Richard went to get fresh food supplies for himself after school and decided to use a taxi to get to the shopping mall although it wasn’t quite far from his place. He alighted outside the mall, went to the trolley point and picked one of the trolleys there.

He had ran out of food supplies about three days earlier.

This was because he had been too busy with trying to meet up with the demands of school and the other personal projects he worked on.
