28 | So the office chemistry doesn't count?

The sound of a car roaring back to life echoed in the air as it sped up, far away from Rita’s apartment.

Silently, Rita watched from the window as Thomas’s car sped off. The tears on her cheek dried up. She reached for her phone and dialed a phone number.

The person on the other end did not seem to answer the call, and just then, an automated voice replied, its cheerful tone contrasting with Rita’s somber mood.

“I’m sorry, I’m not available to take your call right now. Please leave a message after the tone, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you!”

Rita simply ended the call. Scoffing in frustration, she walked towards the dining table to throw the uneaten food on the plate into the garbage can as her mind pondered about the argument she had with Thomas.
