Chapter 7

The weight of Mr. Harold Johanson's words still presses on me even hours after leaving his office. He is giving me the opportunity to prove that I am more than the derogatory words that others have thrown at me. I close my eyes and remembers how I barely breath in Mr. Harold's room. Now that I'm out of that suffocating atmosphere, the reality of what's been handed hits me harder.

The money sitting in my account should feel like a godsend, right? But right now, I feel like this is a little burden. This is not just about the money alone. It's also about anticipation and expectation.

Mr. Harold wants to see if I have the edge to turn this money into something I can be proud of. If I'm not going to be careful, this 'opportunity' will turn into something that will make me fall flat on my face. There’s no middle ground. It's either I make something of myself or I’m left with nothing and be a loser forever.

I let out a sigh and stare at my phone which shows my account balance.
