[Demon Forest – A Day Before the Kraken Duels]“You can’t win against her.”Merlin walked in the forest alongside Sylvie. The two of them have just finished looking at the preparations for the upcoming war. With the focus being centered in making sure that the monsters are well equipped and properly disposed for what is to come, as well as making sure that the surprises across the forest are properly set.“What? Why not?” Sylvie asked in reply. The thing they’re talking about is a fight between Samira and the dark elf. With the month that has passed, Sylvie didn’t just sit idly by and waste away her days. No. She did all she could in order to make sure that she’d get stronger. Strong enough to be worthy of being at the side of the demon lord and, though the current state of Merlin proves her even more unworthy, she at least wishes to hear that she’s now enough to defeat the manticore. But her ears are not graced with these words.“Samira is a bonafide warrior who’s also blessed with g
Samira left her ally with a bit of worry lingering in her mind. Though she knows that Sylvie is strong and perfectly capable, this doesn’t erase the fact that the dark elf is facing off against one of the four sovereigns. A monster that can basically fight on equal footing with the manticore. But she doesn’t have time to think of her ally. All she can do is trust in her ally because, she herself has her plate full already. Filled by her opponent. None other than the abomination that is Corpus.“Ha! This is perfect!” Corpus said as it got up from the rubble. Brushing away all of the sand and dirt that’s accumulated on him. “I’ve always wanted to prove that I’m a lot stronger than you!”The monster is large, much larger than what she remembers. That’s right. They already met before but, contrary to what you may think, this happened in the battlefield. Specifically, it happened on the abomination’s first attempt to fight and win against the said sovereign. An attempt that ended badly for
“Well isn’t that interesting.”Just like the first bout, Merlin watched the battle of Samira and Corpus from the comfort of the high ruined walls. Unlike the first fight which had Sylvie at a great disadvantage against her opponent, this one is more evenly matched. Both fighters are sovereigns and, what’s more, they have a similar fighting style as well. Focusing on brute strength and close quarter combats. However, in the lore, Merlin knows for a fact that Samira is stronger. This has been stated. That between the monsters, Corpus is the lesser sovereign. Though that doesn’t make this fight any easier for the manticore. In fact, Merlin has a lingering thought in his head that things won’t play out the way he thinks it would. All because of the ominous aura that surrounds Corpus as much as it surrounds Beatrix. These thoughts occurred to him before the beginning of the fight. Now that it’s actually happening, he can see that his thoughts are right.Just as he expected, something reall
“She’s losing.”These words came straight out of Merlin’s lips as he watched the fight alongside Sylvie’s Of course, both of his allies are placed on the same state. Though he can also tell who’s losing heavier. “She should’ve killed her target right at the start of the battle. There’s more chance for her then rather than now.”The demon lord knows that Samira’s aware of this as well. That she could’ve ended the fight even before it can properly begin. But this is completely contrary to her nature and, as such, isn’t something she would even think of doing. For the manticore named Samira is a warrior driven by the desire to find worthy opponents. That is the only thing that keeps her going.Though her loyalty is now to Merlin, this thirst of hers cannot be quenched. Merlin can’t tell her to stop playing with her food. That’s why she’s placed in the predicament she’s currently in. One where she’s being beaten badly by her foe. Although, this doesn’t raise any concern for Merlin at all
[Ruined City of Genesis – During Merlin’s Hibernation]Right after Samira’s fight against Gerant, she went back to the ruined city with a brooding look on her face. Her loyal servant, Dirth, noticed this right away. This isn’t a look that Samira usually has on her face after all. That’s why this same goblin decided to take care of it right away.“Is something bothering you my queen?” The goblin asked.Their years together has allowed a certain level of closeness to be shared between them. This being to an extent where the goblin shaman can freely talk to Samira without worrying about what she might do to him.“Hey Dirth.” Samira began.“Yes my queen?”“How much stronger do you think Merlin would become after his hibernation?”This is a strange question. Samira has never been one to ask about the power levels of other people after all. She has always been more of a straightforward fighter. Her thoughts only being that of who she will fight and the excitement building up to the said eve
Final Fang. That is the name of the ultimate move that Corpus just unleashed. The name of this skill derives from the fact that it’s supposed to be as sharp as the fangs of a predator that will gnaw down its prey for the last time. A strike that’s made when the opponent is at their weakest – portraying that this attack cannot fail no matter what. A sharp and lethal strike that cannot be stopped by any defensive skill, no matter how strong. A stab which pours out an excessive amount of Corpus’ mana into it. All for the sake of ensuring that it will live up to its name as a “final” attack.Corpus has tested this out on a mountain which he forced to collapse after hitting it ten times. He also tested the move on a dragon that he forced to flee. That is how great this move is. That’s also why he didn’t want to use it one someone like Samira. He knows that it’d kill her that’s why it’s simply going to be a waste, especially since he can only fire this same twice ins a single day. Using on
Both of the sovereigns have been defeated. Each taken out by a single ally of Merlin Warlock who sees the whole ordeal as nothing more than an opportunity to make his allies stronger. Though this did lead to a lot of dangerous moments within the entirety of the bout, the fact still remains that his allies are able to win. That is all that matters.More than anything, this should serve to show that he is not easy to beat. That, even if his enemies lurk in the shadows and wait for an opening when they can attack, he won’t be defeated. He has countermeasures and, if they so much as take a wrong step, he will make sure that they pay for it with their lives.“That should teach them to think before they try and fight me again.” Merlin said as he got back to his feet. The [Kraken’s Heart] is still absorbing his mana at that moment but, Merlin is nevertheless able to recover ten percent of his mana. He’s also regained senses on the entirety of his body. Washing away the feeling of sluggishne
Philein is able to escape the city, but not without suffering some damage. Half of his body has been burnt to the point that his flesh is exposed. His eyes are swelling so badly from their sockets that it almost looks as if these would fall off anytime. Various body parts are missing and, he can barely crawl on the ground. The surge of pain is unlike anything he’s ever experienced in his life. Even back on earth, he has never gone through something like this. He’s always had an average life. Not a good one but, not a bad one as well. He lived normally and, a lifestyle such as this has never known true pain…until that moment.“MERLIN!” His voice echoed through the pitch-black darkness, seething with rage as the exposed flesh of his burnt hands clawed the dirt on the ground. Digging as deep as they could while Philein burned the image of Merlin in his head – swearing to get his revenge for the humiliation that he suffered. Before that, he needs to survive first. That he did by using hi
