“That’s dangerous.” Merlin said as he continued observing the fight between Sylvie and Beatrix.

He’s proud of her because of what she’s able to do. Although the dark elf is caught unawares in the middle of a large magic circle due to her focus being tunneled on countering the fireballs, she is nevertheless able to remedy this. The dark elf made use of the items provided by Merlin for her in that moment. Creating a living armor made of her own mana that sucked up more than eighty percent of the damage done by the barrage of Beatrix.

As the witch mentioned, the magic circle cancels out any spell from being fired. But that doesn’t include item activated effects. Something which Merlin also thought of when he began preparing for the war and, even before this. He personally led the creation of all the equipments, items, and weaponry of his allies. That’s why it isn’t an exaggeration to say that Sylvie is twice as strong as she would normally be.
