CHAPTER 04

“I don’t think so,” the guard pulled the trigger without a second thought.

Justin slapped the guard’s wrist, and the spiraling air bullet went scraping past Myles’ ear while he stood unfazed, without even blinking. The air bullet struck the sand and left a hole in the ground, lifting up a lot of sand particles in the process. Myles slightly scratched his chin.

“What the hell, Justin?” the guard furiously glared at Justin. “Why did you touch me before you got the clearance certificate? Do you want to die?”

“I’m sorry,” Justin lowered his head and quickly apologized. He was no longer a border guard but someone with authority lower than a citizen until he was given clearance of being free from the blacklisted diseases.

“You think your half-assed apology would cut it? You also interfered in a guard’s actions!” He pointed his gun at Justin. “If you want to die so badly, I’ll grant your wish for not knowing your place.”

He pulled the trigger, but the air bullet blasted inside the gun and destroyed the guard’s hand in the process. Fingers fell in all directions. “AHH!” the guard kept screaming and howling in pain as blood poured out of his hand.

“Shit,” the second guard was also shocked. “You idiot. You should have waited until the gun cooled down.”

The first guard was crying in pain, not just from the wound but also from the fact that he would need to spend months of his salary to get his hand healed by one of the healing mages, assuming the healing process went well.

Justin pitied the bleeding guard. He looked at Myles. “Can you heal him?”

Myles looked into the eyes of the bleeding man, and his life was full of arrogance. He bullied his friends when he was young, and he was bullying his wife now. “He doesn’t deserve it, but since you stepped in to save me, I’ll do it for your sake.”

Myles squatted down to the first guard’s level who was on his knees and crying. He raised his hand and gently touched the remaining ten percent of the hand. “Let his flesh and blood be the price for his restoration.”

The guard’s hand started regenerating at a fast pace, bringing joy, shock, and happiness in the guard’s eyes. The second guard was utterly baffled to see the type of healing he had never seen before.

In a matter of seconds, the lost hand was completely restored. However, the first guard fell unconscious, as though he had lost a lot of energy at once.

“W-What happened to him?” the second guard worriedly asked.

“I used his body mass to heal his wounds,” stated Myles. “It will take some healthy eating and ample rest for him to fully recover.”

“T-That means he’s going to be okay, right?”

“Can we enter your city now,” Myles asked in an icy voice, “or do we still need to wait?”

The second guard felt a chill, whether it be because of Myles’ tone or for some other reason. “O-Of course, you can enter, sir. We’ve already identified you. Our Cobra city doesn’t have any enmity with Liger city, so you can happily enter.”

He opened the smaller gate and let Myles and Justin inside with a flowery smile on his face. Afterward, he closed the gate and sucked in a deep breath. “He healed such a serious wound like it was nothing. If he settles in this city, he’s going to give a tough competition to the alphas.”
