Myles and the mighty ogre charged at one another. The ogre was fast despite its size. It didn’t throw a punch but just tried to grab with its hand so it could devour the human straight away.Myles imbued ‘vera’ into the bone staff and thrust it sideways at the last second. The staff reacted to his energy and shapeshifted into a sharpened pencil-like tool and skewered through the ogre’s palm. The ogre growled in pain and couldn’t control the momentum and ended up crashing, elblow-first.The staff in Myles’ hand now turned into a sword-like tool. Holding the weapon with his left hand, he swung it sideways vertically from below. A projectile slash of energy cleaved through the ogre’s neck, spraying the blood everywhere. The weapon in Myles’ hand turned back to being the regular, cheap-looking bone staff.“This weapon… I was right about it,” Myles thought. “It absorbs a person’s blood and reacts according to the wielder’s thoughts. It’s already strengthened by someone, but it just grew mor
Myles ran like his life depended on it.The four ogres chased him like dogs in heat. The terrain didn’t bother them anywhere near as much as it did Myles. The tall rocks made it so he couldn’t run straight, and so the ogres caught up with him rather quickly. However, Myles intention was to not escape from them, but to use the boulders to his advantage. He moved around like a snake and avoided getting snatched by them.Still, to Myles’ shock, the ogres grabbed boulders and threw them down at him.Myles was forced to cut the boulders down with his bone sword. And he found himself surrounded by the four ogres from every direction. They were all growling so loudly any common man would easily discolor their pants. Myles still didn’t even have a frown on his face.Myles split the sword into twin swords that were both much thinner. As the ogres came at him from every direction, he spun axially and created a tornado of energy that sliced the ogres into many pieces.Myles himself looked a litt
Myles’ words angered the ogres to no end.“You ant!” one of the ogres on his left leaped at him and swung its giant spiked club.Myles covered his hand with ‘vera’ and stopped the club with his bare hand and bent the spikes and dug his fingers into the club with brute force. The entire club cracked and crumbled into pieces. Myles immediately leaped and grabbed the ogre’s face and did the same thing to his face, turning the ogre’s face into a grotesquerie. Now, Myles’ hand was much smaller compared to the ogre’s face. However, because he covered his hand with red-hot energy, he was able to affect the entire ogre’s face as well as the brain and everything in the head. The ogre crashed on the floor and moved no more. Myles pierced the bone staff in the ogre’s belly through the navel, and the weapon began to suck all the blood as well as the flesh, leaving nothing but skin and some organs. Even the bones of the ogre were broken to bits and were consumed. The ogres were even more shocked b
Ria was swatting flies while walking to and fro in the room. There was dirt everywhere, so she didn’t even want to sit anywhere.“This one seems to be tougher dungeon than the last, but I hope he comes out right now. I don’t like staying in this type of a building.”Just then, Myles walked out of the portal.Ria blinked twice. “Myles. Is that you?”“Yes. It’s me,” Myles replied a bit emotionally. “Have you finally realized that it’s me and not Justin?”Ria shook her head slightly. “No. I’m still not 100% sure. Anyway, what monsters are inside this dungeon? They must have been weak since you came out faster than I expected.”“Ogres. They’re strong, but they’re also foolish, which is why I was able to finish it fast,” Myles said. Having fought the ogre king and obtained his ring that a warping ability, he knew how much more difficult beating the ogre king and his men would have been had the ogre king used that warp ability efficiently in the middle of the fight. Heck, even the ogre king
"Bwahaha,” Sercy was over the moon. She cheered the glasses with Ria and Myles. What was in the glasses wasn’t alcohol but banana juice. “I totally expected you to succeed, but not this fast, to be honest. You two surely exceeded my expectations.”“You are happy even though we didn’t bring out any weapons with us?” Myles asked.“It’s okay,” Sercy sipped on the juice and said. “We’ll still get a share of what the dungeon bureau salvages from the dungeon. The only bad thing is that some share goes to the Greed guild as well since their members had entered the dungeon and died.”“Even dying is seen as contribution?”“It’s more of a compensation than contribution,” Sercy said. “Anyway, we don’t have to worry about our guild being closed, so drink all you want.”“It’s just a banana juice, though,” Ria didn’t like this juice all that much.“Don’t be so shy,” Sercy roughly patted Ria’s shoulder. “You won’t get fat if you drink banana juice just once.” She poured more juice in Ria’s glass, ma
Eric thought Ria's forearm would break, but nothing of the sort happened. With a wave of her arm, Ria pushed him back.Eric appeared visibly surprised. He was a Genteel B-ranker, but this young lady managed to block his punch like it wasn't much. "Who are you?""She's our new recruit," Sercy happily said. She did not expect Ria to be this strong."New recruit?" Eric's brows knitted together. "Don't tell me, you sent her into the D-rank dungeon as well?""I didn't know she was this strong.""Didn't you evaluate them before sending them to the dungeon?""Our evaluating equipment was broken, so…" Sercy tried to speak without looking embarrassed.Eric's jaw hardened. He could see that both Ria and Myles had wristlets on them. “So they were never D-rankers to begin with. No wonder they could finish those dungeons by themselves.” He glared at Sercy. “They should have never entered those dungeons. If a dungeon break happens because of your mistake, it won’t just end up with an impeachment f
Myles couldn’t have been any clearer with his words, but Eric still said, “I can’t give you this city, but by being in the bureau, you can enter the dungeons to inspect them or for other reasons. You will mostly be working inside and around the dungeons, and so you will be able to level up a lot faster than if you were to, let’s say, work in a poor guild.”“Mm, your offer is definitely tempting,” Myles said, making Sercy’s heart skip, “but the thing is I don’t like working in big organizations as they tend to be very corrupt. I try to stay away from corruption, so I can’t join the bureau.”If it was just a random person who said such words, then Eric would have attacked that person straight away, but since he was talking with an Ace D-ranker, he employed his patience to the highest level. “Mr. Myles… The bureau will provide you a house, give you a weekly salary, and you’ll get a lot of fame as well. All these things are certain rewards.”“Oh, c’mon,” Sercy intervened. “You’re been spo
The whistles were both removed from Ria and Myles’ hands after their services in clearing two dungeons. The guildmaster of the Dawn guild came down to the ground floor to personally put the badges sent by the bureau. Rorin, the guildmaster, was an old dwarf with his beard almost touching the floor. He looked so drunk, his body was rocking back and forth as he put the badges on the newcomers and then went back to his room on the top floor. Myles received a D* badge, whereas Ria received a B1 badge. Ria felt happy to receive the badge because she had never received something like this before, which now made her want to treasure the badge. Also, she removed the badge from her chest and used a hairpin to stick the badge to the back of her head. With her hair made into a pool, she looked different and strangely attractive. “Why is the guildmaster like that?” Myles asked Sercy. “He’s been like that ever since his granddaughter died,” Sercy said in a low voice. “She and Judas’ grandson
