“What Is going on? Why are there a lot of students at the door?” Damson whispered to his friends, confusion etched on his face.
“I don't know, I think it's best if we open the door before they break it.” Fred said as he opened the door.Damson was surprised to see a number of students at the door. What surprised him more was the fact that they all looked angry and ready to pounce on him.“Where have you been all day?” One of the male students asked, as he faced Damson angrily.“You think you can just promise us dinner and get away with it.” Another voice said“Leave him!” He thinks he can just stay in his room and act like he did nothing? He wants to take us as fools?”“Wait guys, I didn't promise anyone dinner.” Damson said, looking around in confusion.“Oh please, cut the crap. Do we look like we're here to joke with you? You think you can just play us?”“You promised the students in the cafeteria free dinner then you ran away.”“You really think you can escape?” The male student, Max, said as he moved closer to Damson, his fist clenched.Damson was confused. He didn't remember promising anyone dinner and he for sure knew he didn't promise a number of students free food.“I think you should just go with them, Damson.” Fred said, whispering as he was worried they could beat the three of them up in the room.Damson ran his hands over his face. He had a long day and the plan was to have a hot shower and sleep.“Can I at least freshen up before I leave with you guys?” Damson asked“No! They all exclaimed.“We leave this place together, right now!”Damson was frustrated. He hesitated for a while, before agreeing to follow the students back to the cafeteria. When they got to the cafeteria, Damson was surprised to see a large number of students. He didn't understand what was going on.“How did he promise a large number of people dinner without him remembering?”He looked around to see everyone looking at him, smiling smugly.“The loser is here.” A familiar voice said, making Damson roll his eyes.“Not again.” He thought to himself. It was Caleb.“We're glad to have you join us.” he said laughing loudly, making all the students join him.“Wait, did you tell the students to lie to me to get me here?” Damson asked, as it dawned on him that there was nothing like a free dinner.Caleb wanted him to come back to the cafeteria for one of his sick games.“Aw, the loser is catching up.” Caleb said, laughing as he sipped his drink. He looked like he was in a good mood.“I'm done here! I'm tired of your sick games. If you want to play, play with yourself and others.”“Count me out.” Damson said coldly as he tried to leave the cafeteria but was blocked by some students.“Running away?” Caleb teased.“You should fulfill your promise before you leave, I mean, remember you promised us dinner.”“I promised no one dinner.” Damson said, gritting his teeth.“You clearly lied to them that I promised them dinner so you could get them to get me down here. I know what you did.”“Oh, poor Damson. Just say you cannot afford the dinner and we'll understand.”"All you just have to say is that you are poor and you cannot afford to get us dinner"“No need to try to fight it. It's okay to be poor and wretched.” Caleb said, smiling smugly at him.“This isn't why I brought you here though.” Caleb continued, smirking. “Wait for the big surprise.”Damson was so over Caleb's taunt and wanted to leave but the students stood firmly at the door, blocking his path.He knew he had zero chance of escaping.“Attention guys.” Caleb shouted as he hit a spoon on the glass cup he was carrying. You all are here for a reason.“My girlfriend Mia, has been asking me for something for a while, something she couldn't get from her past lover.” He continued making all eyes turn to look at Damson.“What is it!?”“It must be a car?”“No, I think it's a luxury bag!”“What if it's a designer shoe?”Everyone was muttering amongst themselves, eager to know what Caleb must have gotten for Mia.They all stood on their toes, making sure they didn't miss out on seeing what he wanted to give her.Caleb brought out a box, opening it to reveal a sparkling gold ring.“It's not just any ring but a ring made by Aurora's embrace. It has a flawless diamond at the center and the band is pure gold.” He said proudly as he handed the box to Mia“Wow!”“Caleb really outdid himself!”“That ring is so expensive, not anyone can afford it”“I wish my boyfriend was like Caleb, so sweet, loving and rich!”“Caleb is such a dream boyfriend!”“Mia is so lucky!”“I'm jealous!!”Everyone in the cafeteria exclaimed in excitement and envy.“Oh my God.” Mia gushed. “I can't believe you got me the ring I've always wanted. This is a dream come true”She turned to Caleb and planted a soft kiss on his lips. “Thank you so much baby, thank you.” she said, emotionally.Mia's friends rushed up to her as they wanted to see a closer view of the ring.“This is so pretty.” Betty, one of Mia's friends, said as she held the ring.“Do you see why I told you to leave that good for nothing Damson?”“He would have never been able to get you this, not in his lifetime.” she continued.“I know right!” Mia exclaimed. “I'm so glad I left him.”“I dated him out of pity and I couldn't do that anymore. He's so poor that all he could ever buy for me was just 1 dollar sandwiches. Can you imagine?” She retorted.Students in the cafeteria laughed out loud, pointing at Damson who just watched.“I'm sure he's wishing he was the one that got her the ring.” Max said, laughing loudly.“A poor man can only dream. He would have to work all his life to be able to afford that ring. Funny thing is, he might still not be able to afford it.” Another voice said, making everyone burst into a fit of laughter.“I'm so glad I chose you Caleb. So glad I left the poorest student in the school for you.” Mia said smiling to Caleb who was satisfied with the reaction he got from Mia.“I would always treat you as the queen that you are, I promiseto give you the world. A beauty like you doesn't deserve to be with someone like Damson.”“He can't give you the life that you want.” Caleb said loudly, making sure Damson could hear him.Damson was angry and pained as he watched the scene before him.He was angry that Caleb brought him out of his room on purpose so he could watch him give Mia a gift and he was pained Mia never loved him as he loved her.Out of anger, he grabbed a glass of water, walked towards Mia, making sure no one suspected his move and spilled water on the ring.“What the hell!” Mia screamed out, as she vigorously tried to clean the water that spilled on her ring. The water Damson spilled on the ring came as a shock as she didn't see it coming.“Are you blind? Can't you see? Do you want to ruin my ring?” she continued as her face flushed with anger.“You probably hate the fact that Caleb bought me the ring you couldn't even get for me and you're trying so badly to ruin it.”"You're just jealous and angry I left you for a better option. I'll pick Caleb over you anytime. You're just a servant boy and will always be a servant boy"“Am I to be blamed for your miserable life? You're a good-for-nothing human being.” she screamed at him.Mia's words pierced Damson's heart. His cheeks burnt with anger and he tried to fight back the tears that had built up in his eyes. “What is wrong with you!?”Caleb yelled angrily as he grabbed Damson by the collar of his shirt.“Did you just do that on purpose? Do you know how much I got the ring? Do you know how
“What were you thinking? Bringing up a card that doesn't exist so you could save your face?” Betty sneered.“How bold of you to think you can afford the most expensive food on the menu. You could have just agreed to not being able to afford it than making a fool outta yourself.”“Young man, don't waste my time, you need to make your payment or you will not like the consequences of your actions.” The waitress said. “How about you collect the card from me and check if it's real or not? At least you'll find out if it is ancient-”Before he could complete the sentence, Mia walked forward and snatched the card out of his hands, taking a close look at it. “Are you sure you didn't go and dig the ground in one of your dirty places for this card?” she asked.“I don't think I've seen this card before. So black, bare and ugly like you.” she continued, making everyone burst out in laughter. “He probably had planned to try and deceive the waitress, thinking he could fool everyone, but only made
“Well, well, well. Looks like the card was not fake after all. It's real.” Officer Ryder said, holding up his hand, silencing everyone. Damson let out a sigh of relief, a smile spreading across his face. “I told you, officer Ryder, I wasn't trying to scam anyone.”“Now that everything has been sorted out. Let me make this clear. I do not want to hear any noise from you guys again. You all need to focus on your studies and stop spreading rumors and causing trouble.” Officer Ryder said, clearing his throat. “I'm keeping an eye on you.” Officer Ryder said, pointing at Caleb. “Any more trouble from you or your friends, and there will be consequences. Do you understand!?” Caleb nodded silently as he was still in shock. He was still trying to process how Damson was able to afford 20,000 dollars. “I'll be on my way now.” Officer Ryder said as he turned and left the cafeteria. As soon as officer Ryder left the cafeteria, the students swarmed around Damson asking him questions. “How did
As Damson walked home from the cafeteria, a satisfied smile spread across his face. He was happy about the turn of events at the cafeteria and he was proud of himself for having the last say. The look on Mia and Caleb's face was priceless. He replayed the moment in his head, chuckling to himself. He had never felt so confident and in control. For once, he wasn't belittled. He came on top by surprising them with the card and him paying 20,000 dollars and he felt amazing. As he walked on, he heard a rustling sound, which made him look back, but all he saw was pitch black as it was late already. Most of the students were in their dorm, while some were scattered around but far away from him. He shrugged the noise off and continued walking. He figured it might just be his imagination. He continued walking but stopped again after hearing footsteps and rustling sounds. He knew he wasn't alone. “Luke! Fred!” Damson called out. His voice echoed, but there was no response. He knew Fred an
Damson laid on the floor, groaning in pain, his body trembling as he took in hard breaths. He was bleeding heavily, his vision blurring as his eyes struggled to stay open. He tried to shout for help, but he couldn't, the pain was unbearable. He placed his hands on the wound, applying pressure. As he laid on the floor, he couldn't help but think that this was the end. This was how he was going to die. No one knew he came here, he was far away from the school and didn't tell anyone he was leaving. He tried to move his body, to crawl towards the door, but his body wouldn't respond. "Help…Somebody help me.." He used his last energy to cry out. He could feel himself slipping away, his vision fading to black and his words slurring when he heard the door opening and a shrill scream filled the air. Damson struggled to stay focused, his eyes blurry, and saw the hotel cleaner standing in the doorway, her eyes wide with panic.. She was dressed in a bright yellow uniform, her tag reading Mar
The room fell silent as they listened to the doctor speak. Maria's face widened in shock and Luis's face held the same reaction. "What? What are you talking about? Luis asked, shock evident on his face. How can young master be in critical condition? Impossible!""A liver transplant?" Maria repeated, her voice low and barely above a whisper. How soon does he need one?""We're already searching for a matching donor, but time is running out. Every minute counts. We need to act fast if we want to save his life.""His family members need to be here. We need to test and check if they are a match with the patient." The doctor said, excusing himself. As soon as he left, Luis immediately called Damson's parents. "Sir!" He said as soon as Damson's dad picked up the phone. "Damson was attacked and he's in the hospital right now. He's in a critical condition and needs a liver transplant as soon as possible."Few minutes later, Damson's parents rushed into the hospital, their faces filled with
It's been weeks since the death of Damson's father. He couldn't shake off the guilt and responsibility of his father's death. His mother became a shadow of herself. The loss of her husband came as a shock as she didn't see it coming. Damson stayed in the mansion after he was discharged. He didn't return back to school or stay in the dorm. His friends reached out to him but he didn't respond to their calls and messages. "Young master, can I come in?" Luis asked as he knocked on the door of Damson's father's study. He has been there since his father's death."Come in Luis." Damson responded, his eyes fixed on a framed picture of his father. Luis came in with someone following him closely. He had a huge frame, a rugged face and a scar above his left eyebrow. "Your father was a great man." Luis said, as he watched Damson's gaze fixated on his father's picture. It's a shame he had to die so soon but he made the right decision by picking you over him. "He left a great void in our heart
"Look who we have here." Caleb said, clapping his hands, smiling as he moved around Damson. "You've decided to come out of hiding. I thought you were arrested, or dead somewhere and that would have been better. A thief shouldn't be left lurking the streets."Damson clenched his fist as he moved towards Caleb, about to land a blow on his face, but Fred held him back. "It's not worth it Damson. Let it go." Fred said to him as he held his fist. "Did I hit a spot?" Caleb said as his smile grew wider. "Oh, come on Damson. Don't play dumb. I know all about your little extra curricular activities.""I don't have time for your little game Caleb, you're not worth exchanging words with." Damson said with a firm voice as he pushed past Caleb. "I'm out of here." "Do you remember Aria?" Caleb asked quickly, stopping Damson in his tracks. "The girl who took pity on you and gave you food when you starved, not once or twice, but frequently."She pitied you because you were so poor and miserable. To
