Art inclined his head respectfully, choosing his words carefully. “It’s an honor to meet you, sir.”

Eron’s gaze lingered on him, sharp and assessing like a predator sizing up its prey. There was no warmth in those eyes, only an unsettling mixture of authority and scrutiny.

He was definitely strong, the pressure around him said it all. But Art had been with stronger people so he wasn't intimidated.

Elora stepped in with a calm smile, her voice smooth and practiced. “This is Eron, my elder brother, and the Crown Prince.”

Art’s thoughts screeched to a halt. The Crown Prince?

‘Great, just great,’ he thought bitterly. ‘How could I not recognize someone this important? Calling him “sir” wasn’t just disrespectful—it was outright dangerous.’

He immediately adjusted his stance, lowering into a proper bow. “Apologies, Your Highness. Please forgive my lapse in etiquette.”

Eron’s lips curled into a thin smile, though it lacked any genuine warmth. “It’s fine,” he said, though his tone was anything

Princess Celestia descended the grand staircase with an elegance that demanded silence. Her golden hair, styled into intricate waves, framed her sharp yet radiant features, and the delicate crown atop her head glinted like a star.As she reached the base of the stairs, her father, the King, stepped forward and extended a hand. She took it gracefully, and together, they stood before the gathered crowd. The room fell utterly silent, save for the rustling of fabric and the faint clinking of glasses. The King’s voice, deep and commanding, filled the hall once more. “My beloved daughter, Princess Celestia, wishes to share a few words with all of you.” He turned to her with a proud smile and stepped aside.Celestia’s gaze swept across the crowd, her poise unwavering. When she spoke, her voice was steady, refined, and filled with warmth that carried to every cor

A servant approached the duo, bowing deeply. “Princess Elora, your presence is requested by Her Majesty the Queen.”Elora straightened, her expression shifting to one of polite composure. “Of course.” She turned to Art. “Stay out of trouble while I’m gone, alright?”Art nodded. That was his plan from the beginning. She gave him a pointed look before walking off, her elegant gown trailing behind her.Now left alone, Art scanned the room. He couldn’t sense any particularly strong auras, but he doubted there were none present. It was more likely that they were concealing their presence to avoid making others uncomfortable. This was a celebration, after all. A servant approached him with a tray of wine, offering a glass. Art accepted it with a polite nod but set it down on a nearby table moments later. The last thing he needed was a slip-up. He had learned from past experiences. The music shifted to a slower, more intimate tune. Couples began pairing off, and the center of the room trans

Having walked for several minutes, Art had covered a good part of the Royal Palace. He even escorted Elora to the sector where her room was located since she wanted to change her clothes. He had to wait outside, though. He hadn’t expected to be dragged around the palace, but he couldn’t complain. This could prove useful later in the future. He briefly considered setting up a teleportation circle somewhere discreet, but it seemed far too risky. The palace had ten times the security of the already heavily guarded Royal Academy. With his current skill level, the likelihood of getting caught was extremely high. Elora emerged in a simpler blue-and-white, knee-length gown that fit her so well it seemed as though it had been made specifically for this occasion. It further accentuated her already abundant beauty. Having spent some time with her, Art realized that she had a playful side that contrasted starkly with the strict demeanor she exhibited at school. That strictness, he assumed, was

The ballroom hummed with the elegance of the evening. Laughter, music, and the soft clinking of glasses filled the air as nobles danced beneath the glittering chandeliers. It was a night meant for celebration, where whispers of politics and alliances were drowned by the orchestra’s melody. Then, without warning, the grand doors burst open, crashing against the walls. A violent gust of wind surged into the room, extinguishing the chandeliers in a single breath and plunging the space into a dim, eerie glow. Gasps and startled cries filled the silence that followed, the orchestra’s music silenced mid-note.The intruder stepped forward, his movements slow and deliberate. He was clad in a ragged black cloak, his face hidden beneath the shadow of his hood. The only sign of life came from the faint glimmer of emerald eyes, flickering like cold fire.A sudden wave of wind erupted from his body, sending tables and chairs tumbling. Nobles stumbled and screamed, some shielding themselves as glas

  • The Successor System    Under Attack 2

The courtyard was vast, its cobblestone floor glistening under the pale moonlight. A dozen guards stood in a loose formation, their weapons glowing faintly with elemental magic. In the center stood a lone cloaked figure, shrouded in black, his head slightly lowered. The air around him was heavy with tension, the faint sound of running water echoing unnaturally in the otherwise silent courtyard. “Surround him!” barked the captain of the guard, his tone sharp. His gauntlet burned with fire magic as he gestured toward the figure. “He’s not leaving here alive.” The guards spread out, their footsteps careful but firm. Fire crackled, earth rumbled, and the soft hum of wind magic buzzed through the air. Yet, the cloaked figure did not move. A gloved hand slowly rose, and the air shifted as tiny droplets began to form around him, glimmering faintly in the moonlight. “Attack!” the captain roared. Two guards launched the first strike, one sending a stream of flames hurtling toward the

The battle raged on around the palace, yet those in the ballroom remained in grave danger. Most of the guests had already fled. The intruder seemed unbothered by their retreat. His focus remained fixed on the Crown Prince and his guards. The room had fallen into complete silence; no one was making the first move. "Just who is this? Why do they have to come now of all times?" Eron gritted his teeth in frustration. This was one of the rare occasions when the palace’s defenses were comparatively weak.A series of unforeseen crises across the kingdom had drawn the Swords—those who acted as the Royal Family's pillars and handled threats of this level—far away. The nearest Sword would still need several minutes to arrive.Even beyond the Swords, many of the palace’s finest fighters were absent, spread thin by the kingdom’s growing issues.‘If only those great families would step in, we wouldn’t have to dispatch so many of our own forces. But this seems too deliberate. The timing is too per

Within a large, heavily guarded room, a man sat seething with rage. The King, Eadric, had been moments away from retiring for the night when the sound of an explosion tore through the palace grounds. Before he could fully comprehend the situation, Royal Guards surrounded him, relaying the unthinkable—an attack on the Royal Palace. This was the first time something like this had happened since his reign. ‘They dare to insult me like this,’ he thought, his fists clenching so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His fury simmered beneath the surface, threatening to boil over. Sensing her husband’s turmoil, Queen Cecile reached for his hand, wrapping her delicate fingers around his. She offered no words, but the silent gesture spoke volumes, grounding him amidst the storm of emotions. After waiting a little for Elora and her guest, the attack on the main hall happened less than a minute after she left with Celestia. The room fell quiet as a young man dressed in armor addressed the

In a city not far from the palace, a lone silhouette perched on the edge of a towering building. The figure had two massive swords strapped to his back, their weight seemingly inconsequential. “The palace is under attack?” he muttered, his voice laced with faint surprise. A smirk curled his lips. “Give me five minutes.” A crackling energy began to surge around him, and his demeanor shifted dangerously. “It must be those guys. Perfect timing,” he said, his tone alive with menace. “I was just getting bored.” *** Back at the palace, in front of Prince Erwin’s chamber, a tense standoff unfolded in the large dim hallway. Seven royal guards stood at attention, their eyes fixed on a figure cloaked in black and white. Despite his unassuming posture, the air around him felt heavy with danger. This was definitely one of the intruders. ‘I couldn’t even sense him until she came this close. This is bad,’ the head guard thought, his gaze narrowing. ‘He’s no ordinary enemy. He might be beyon

They were good people, and he wasn’t about to reject their kindness. But he wasn’t a freeloader either. The next day, he found a merchant willing to buy some of his items. The merchant couldn’t determine the exact value of the feathers Art had collected, so he offered a low price. • A way in

Art walked through the streets behind the girl, his arms folded across his chest. He tried to stay composed despite his inner turmoil. --- Moments ago "What did you say?" "I want to thank you properly, and you seem hungry. I can't be sure of anything except that we make lovely dishes at my home," the girl said. Art took a few seconds to reply. He might have been hungry, but he still had his pride. "Ehk-hem! I actually have somewhere to eat. But if you insist, I'll take you up on your offer," he said with a straight face. His reply seemed to please her as she smiled. "My name is Yuh. Please follow me." --- And that was how he ended up like this. He hadn’t paid much attention to her earlier, but now he gauged her physical appearance. She looked slightly older than him, with several injuries and bruises—probably from when she confronted those men. They walked for several minutes, passing many people and buildings along the way. This was the first time he was freely walki

  • An Angry Man is still a Hungry Man

Art never thought of himself as some kind of hero who saved every person he didn't know in distress without expecting anything in return. In fact, he considered that kind of mindset foolish—a pointless waste of time, energy, and effort. A simple thank you wasn't enough to justify the trouble. People might call him self-centered for thinking this way, but he didn’t care. That was just how he saw the world. But there were some things even he couldn't ignore. Some acts so vile they crossed a line, and this was one of them. For someone with a 25-year-old mentality—perhaps even older, considering the memories of the life he had replaced—certain things struck a nerve. Especially when he had two younger sisters, though from different worlds. Hearing what these men had done… It triggered something in him. His golden eyes glowed as mana gathered around him, the air shifting with his rising energy. Both men instinctively took a few steps back. 'Wait… he's a mage too? But he looked so

  • Alone in the city

Fiona paced so restlessly in the main hall, arms crossed quite tightly over her chest. As soon as the weighty doors swung, her dad walked in, and she turned quickly toward him."Father! You're back!" Lord Varian, a graying, tall man who had a well-maintained beard, took off his coat, handing it to an attendant. He slightly arched an eyebrow at his daughter's tense posture. "I exist. Though, from the look on your face, something tells me you're not here to welcome me peacefully."Fiona huffed. "You won’t possibly believe the thing that happened."Lord Varian chuckled softly, moving onward toward a plush chair near the fireplace. "I think that I shall, actually." He sat down, gesturing for her to continue.Fiona wasted no time. "That very boy we saved—he tried to steal right from us! I caught him right in my own room!"Lord Varian's brow furrowed quite slightly. However, he remained completely silent, allowing her to vent."And after I then confronted him, he tried to begin making excu

"What are you doing here?" Art stared blankly at the girl standing just inside the room's entrance. She looked about his age, with shoulder-length auburn hair and a round, fair face that grew redder with fury with each passing second. He quickly put two and two together—she was most likely the owner of the room.He immediately tried to clear the misunderstanding."It’s not what you think," he said, instinctively raising his hands."I hoped you would be a good and sincere person, but you're just like the rest. How could you try to steal from us? You even came into my room!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with irritation and disappointment."Wait! What? Steal? No, you have this all wrong!" Art defended himself."Guards! Frier!!" she screamed loudly."I just woke up! I was checking if there was anyone around. I was really just trying to thank you guys!" Art further tried to explain.Seconds after her loud call, four people arrived.Three were men, while the fourth was a woman. The woman

Viron groaned as he regained consciousness.'What happened?' he muttered, sitting up.His last memories of talking with Zenchi resurfaced.'Wait! I actually tried to attack him?' His eyes widened in disbelief. 'What got into me? I haven’t been that angry before. Was it the stress from all the training?'He looked down at his body and noticed some bandages.'He completely rendered me useless with one casual attack? No, he only released his aura with a little mix of lightning. That was barely an attack. What a monster. How does someone even defeat someone like that?'Viron could feel most of his strength returning, so he had no trouble moving. He walked over to the window and gazed outside. The sun was slowly being replaced by the moon, casting long shadows over the academy grounds. Despite the growing darkness, people were still outside—talking, laughing, loitering. Here, as in most academies, it wasn’t compulsory to learn magic solely for battle. Especially in this era, which had mos

"Ughhh! That boy just keeps making things difficult for me. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken him as a student in the first place. No! What am I even doing here in the first place? I should be on a mountain somewhere, drinking away while staring at the horizon. Now that’s life," Zenchi muttered as he walked. After the incident with Viron, he was summoned by the academy’s principal. The damage he caused was more than he expected. 'All this lack of fighting is making me lose gauge of my strength,' he grumbled. Before long, he arrived at a tall building where the principal’s office was located. The last time he was here was when he first arrived at the academy. He could sense the presence of people surrounding the building, even though they weren’t visible."Thirty-two, huh? That’s fewer than last time," he muttered as he stepped inside.Immediately, a tall woman in her thirties, dressed formally, approached him. "The principal is waiting for you," she said before leading the way.In less

  • Viron's Questions

"What did you say you did?!!""Calm down. It's just a simple spar. Why get worked up? It's not like we're trying to kill each other."Viron’s casual response made Zenchi facepalm."Have you ever seen any official public spar between family members of your age range before?"After a quick thought, Viron replied, "No.""Of course not. So you don’t understand how seriously the family takes things like this."Viron stared at Zenchi in confusion. Truthfully, he wasn’t aware of how duels in his family worked. Since childhood, he had always felt something was wrong—or rather, missing. There was an emptiness inside him, and with no direct family members to ask—since they were all dead—he was left in the dark. The only exception was his grandfather, the Patriarch of the family. But even he never paid attention to him.As a result, Viron spent most of his time in seclusion, alone. The other young Thunders then weren’t even allowed to be around him. That was why, when he got into the academy, he
