Shallow breaths escaped along with gasps as the darkness around a girl twisted into a white landscape.

She stood at the center of the brightly lit scenery, a thick white mist curling around her ankles. It felt both cold and hot at the same time.

Faint echoes of whispers drifted from the distance beyond.

Suddenly, a deep growl rumbled through the air.

Her body tensed as she slowly turned.

And there it stood before her—a towering nine-tailed fox with gleaming white fur. Its crimson eyes burned like embers, and each of its nine tails swayed along with the wind.

She tried to step back, but she found herself unable to move.

The fox advanced, its massive paws making no sound as it circled her.

"Why are you scared?" A soft, layered feminine voice slithered through her mind.

Her eyes widened, her breathing becoming faster and more labored.

"W-Who are you?" she barely managed to whisper.

"I am the one you freed and saved. I am sincerely grateful for that, so I shall dedicate myself to serving

It took Caitlyn even longer than expected to find Valor.Back in the dream, the fox had told her to find him. She was pretty sure it had been referring to Valor—after all, he was the only male soul summoner in the entire school.Ultimately, she found him seated alone in a secluded building, his posture slumped, a defeated expression clouding his face.Well, considering he had actually been defeated two days ago, it wasn’t all that surprising. He was so lost in thought that he only noticed her when she got very close. His gaze shifted toward her, his brows furrowing. "Who are you?" he asked, frowning."Uh—sorry to bother you. My name is Caitlyn Slerh. I'm a summoner, also in the first year." She figured he wouldn’t recognize her since he rarely attended classes. "I’d like you to help me with summoning magic.""You’ve really got some nerve," he scoffed. "Leave before I get any angrier.""I'm sorry, but I can't do that. I need to tackle my problem if I want to keep up with him. Please he

Caitlyn took Valor back to the field where she had met the professor earlier. She was hoping to see him, but he was no longer there. "This looks like a good enough place," Valor muttered, glancing around. He then turned toward her. "Let's begin by seeing how much you can summon." She stretched out her hands, and after a brief distortion in space, a teddy bear appeared in her grasp. Valor’s lips twitched slightly at the sight. "Don't tell me this is it?" "It is," Caitlyn replied truthfully, causing him to facepalm. "But I think you're jumping to conclusions. Tera here is very strong. Let me show you." Caitlyn poured some of her mana into the teddy bear. Almost immediately, it began growing in size, its form shifting as it developed a faint level of consciousness. Its growth stopped at ten feet, making it tower over Valor. "I guess it's not that bad after all," he muttered. "Is there anything else you can summon?" "No," she admitted. "It's only Tera." Valor let out a sigh. "At

"To take care of a problem?" Asura asked. "What do you mean by that?""It's simple. Someone is growing stronger—too fast. He might become a threat to our position. I feel the need to handle him before that happens. I believe we can take care of it, but in case of any miscalculations in the future, we might need your help," Uramia explained, taking a seat at the edge beside Asura.Asura already had an idea who she was talking about, but just to be sure, she asked, "And who is this person?"Uramia's gaze sharpened as she replied. "I'm sure you're acquainted with him. You were both victims of the raid accident. His name is Art Von Silver."After the battle between the Elites and the Silvers, Uramia had overheard a younger girl recounting the details of the fight to Asura. She had been nearby, watching closely, and was surprised at how attentively Asura listened. It was the first time she had ever seen the lilac princess show such interest in someone’s story. Even more intriguing, Asura h

"Don't you think you're pushing yourself too far?"A man with a bottle of alcohol in hand spoke to the blue-haired boy floating before him. His body was surrounded by a crackling aura of energy, his hair glowing bright blue with occasional sparks of lightning flickering around him. Even with his eyes closed, he was fully aware of everything happening around him—down to the smallest shift in the air.He had maintained this state for nearly 48 hours.Even Professor Zenchi, a man who rarely worried about such things, was beginning to feel uneasy. At first, it had been normal training. Ever since they had returned from the raid, Viron had been diligently refining his skills. But a few days ago, something changed. After returning from an unknown place, he had thrown himself into relentless training, pus

"What did you say you did?!!""Calm down. It's just a simple spar. Why get worked up? So you don’t understand how seriously the family takes things like this."Viron stared at Zenchi in confusion. Truthfully, he wasn’t aware of how duels in his family worked. Since childhood, he had always felt something was wrong—or rather, missing. There was an emptiness inside him, and with no direct family members to ask—since they were all dead—he was left in the dark. The only exception was his grandfather, the Patriarch of the family. But even he never paid attention to him.As a result, Viron spent most of his time in seclusion, alone. Garron walked into a smaller door within the room.Art assumed it must be where he kept his most valuable items, as strong waves of mana surged out the moment the door opened—only to weaken once Garron stepped inside. Some kind of safety mechanism, most likely.Garron returned about a minute later, a box in hand.Art's gaze locked onto it.This time, the box was pitch black. Strangely, he couldn’t sense anything from it—but he waited patiently.Garron placed it on a smaller table near the edge of the room."Here. Open it."This was his first high-end project since the death of Rena, the former Third Sword.During its creation, he’d realized just how rusty he’d become over the five years without practice. He’d needed to pause at a crucial point in the crafting process and hone his skills on lesser works before returning to the mask. "How did he find out?" Art mumbled while chewing on a fruit. Garron had seen right through him before leaving—clearly, a man who'd dealt with plenty of children and teenagers in his life.Night had fallen, and the synchronized chorus of insects performed a gentle orchestral hum across the forest.Art was currently lying on the thick branch of a large tree, his gaze fixed on the dark sky overhead. This tree would serve as his home for the night, as he had decided not to return to Yuh’s family house. At this point, there wasn’t much reason to go back.Maybe they were expecting him tonight, which, disappointing them on his part, wasn’t great—but sometimes, plans got ruined by circumstance. After everything he had learned, wandering around—especially at night—wouldn’t be the safest move for him anymore. He stared down at the fruit in his hand, his expression shifting into a frown. "I'm sorry for your loss. But I think you're making a mistake," Art said firmly. "You decided to throw your talent away because she was killed? Isn't that the same as letting her killer go free?"Garron's face dropped. "You never justified her death. Her killer must be out there, living quite the life.""You think I'm okay with that? There’s nothing I can do!" Garron burst out in a mix of sadness and frustration. "Trying to get revenge would only lead to more death.""And why is that?" Art pressed.Garron let out a sigh. "That armor I made for her, along with the artifacts, were the best I could produce. If her opponent destroyed even those... then anything else I make would be useless.""So, let me get this straight. You stopped crafting because you feel guilty for causing Jira's mother’s death, and you think your skills aren’t good enough to help bring her killer to justice?"Seeing no response, Art shook his head in disappointment. "Are you alright?" he asked. She simply nodded, and they both left the area together.Art's next destination was to find an artifact blacksmith.Unlike weapon blacksmiths, who worked on creating or recreating weapons and armor, artifact blacksmiths handled other magical items—like the masks he had. Some blacksmiths were skilled enough to excel in both areas. But there was no way he’d find a good blacksmith in this place. He needed to go deeper into the city, to the mage districts—and taking Kira with him wouldn’t be ideal."Umm... Kira. I have to go to the main city. The moment it was revealed, an ominous wave of mana surged outward."You might need to protect yourself with mana. It's dangerous," the man warned, raising his gaze to Art.Art wasn’t a newbie in dealings like this. In his former life, he had been exposed to similar situations since childhood. He had learned how to read people—their intentions, their unspoken words. The shop owner was conducting one final test to see if Art was truly worthy of the mask.If Art followed his advice and shielded himself with mana, it would signal that he wasn’t strong enough to naturally endure its aura. That would shatter the illusion of overwhelming strength he had carefully crafted. Someone at A or S-rank wouldn’t even flinch at something of this level, no matter how impressive it was. That said, Art could tell the mask's aura was genuinely dangerous. But he wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip away."Yo
