Art was running through the forest with two weapons at hand. One was the life-steal dagger, while the other was a sword.

The light from the half moon wasn’t enough to significantly illuminate the forest, so anyone hunting now is taking a very big risk.

The most cunning and dangerous beasts operate by this time, using the darkness to their advantage.

So it’s just a game of who would be the hunter and prey.

The beasts around this time had special organs, or maybe magic that helped them perform better at night, but unfortunately for them, Art wasn’t just running around blindly.

He had a few pieces of equipment with him that ensured that the barrier brought by the night wouldn’t be an obstacle.

The first was the mask that he had gotten from the store back then which made seeing people’s natural aura along with night vision possible.

After the last time he used it which almost led to his blindness, he hasn’t worn it again until now.

From a third person's perspective, Art’s face was black,

'They blend in so well. But it’s futile against me,' Art thought, staring in front of him at the many beasts attached to different trees. Their physiology wasn’t something he could compare with any creature he knew from his former world. They were pitch black in color, and the thing that would’ve given them away being eyes that would most likely glow at night were absent. It seemed that they relied completely on her senses to hunt down their prey. It would be impossible for nearly anyone at the students' level to spot them in the darkness by normal sight alone. Their abdominal region was slender, but they had very broad chests and two arm-like structures that were serrated and moved like whips. Their heads were about the same size as a human's without eyes and nose, and they lacked legs, having a tail just like a certain half-human, half-snake myth. From the way they moved, it was clear that they had very flexible bones or none at all. Their movement failed to pr

“Aura release.”With a slash from his life-steal dagger, a golden arc of aura was released, which traveled at incredible speed toward its target. An explosion was created as contact was made, destroying the vegetation around that area, and with that, Art had successfully single-handedly killed 17 E-rank beasts, which was about half of the total that his party had killed. It was truly a blessing to meet a group of E-rank beasts. He wondered if other parties had shared such a blessing. But then a realization hit him. ‘A group of E-ranks.’Beasts don’t usually group up together apart from two reasons.T

Art narrowly dodged the horns of a beast that charged at him.He had been hunting continuously without rest for the past four hours, so the time now was around midnight. During this period, he had successfully killed 5 D-rank, 72 E-rank, and hundreds of F-rank beasts, as well as harvested their cores. Adding D-rank cores to his collection was truly satisfying. He was currently fighting against a D-rank beast, which was a six-foot-tall deer with multiple sharp horns. He could be considered the bad guy here since the deer was sleeping peacefully when he picked up a fight, and honestly, he was regretting it as the exhaustion from all the continuous fighting was taking its toll. His movements were getting sloppier, and he had narrowly escaped getting stabbed several times. Since he had no sort of protective gear on, he couldn’t risk that happening. At a point, he tried making a run for it, but the furious beast relentlessly chased him, so there were no two ways about this. One of them

“Aura release!”The glowing mark on his eyes grew brighter as a powerful wave of aura burst from his body, destroying all the ice around him.“I’m under attack. Can’t I just have my peace?” Art muttered.Whatever was attacking him was strong as he had to put a lot of effort into destroying the ice.His dagger and sword appeared from his storage device into his hands. The particles of ice that were suspended mid-air due to the explosion morphed into very thin spikes, numbering several hundred, all aimed at him.Using both weapons in that split second, he sent out aura slashes, which destroyed nearly all the spikes, but the rest were strong enough to pass through his aura skin and pierce into his true skin. They were thinner than needles, so the pain was not more than what he could handle, but actual damage wasn’t done. Well, that’s what he thought at first, but he began feeling cold from within. He immediately realized that these thin ice needles were being used by the enemy to freeze

Asura was about to get serious as the mana she was exuding increased several times over.Even after thinking hard, he couldn’t remember anything that would make her want to kill him.He thought of the chance of her not seeing clearly, but that would make her coming here seem stupid.“Look, I don’t know what I did to make you harbor ill intents, but I’m sure I didn’t mean it.” It felt weird saying this, but he needed to be clear of her reason. The intimidating mana she was giving off nearly disappeared as she stared at him in shock and confusion. ‘Wait, that voice…, could it be him, or is the beast playing mind games?’ She was hesitant for some time as Art patiently waited for her response.“Art? Is that really you, because if not…” From the change in atmosphere, it was obvious that she hated being manipulated. The unnerving feeling made even him shortly doubt if he was the real Art.‘What’s wrong with her? I mean, can’t she see…’It was then that he came to a realization, which mad

*Flicker*The blue eyes of a girl slowly opened with, at first, a blurry vision, which gradually got clearer. She stared at the ceiling for several seconds, sorting out her memories. After turning her head to look around the place she was, she concluded that she had been brought back to camp.‘What happened? The last thing I remember was the group getting attacked by a D-rank beast. I blacked out during the attack, I guess.’The image of a person flashed in her thoughts. “Art!” She sat up despite the exhaustion she was feeling. “I hope he’s alright, as well as the others.”She was currently alone in the room but could hear voices coming from outside. She was glad to see her teddy bear unharmed beside her.Grabbing it, she came down from the bed before walking out of the room. The rays from the sun were very bright today with clear blue skies. She shielded her eyes with her hand as they adapted to the brightness. Taking it off, her gaze fell on the people making the noise, who were n

“Sonra, Caitlyn, and Art are no longer with us, so we should take on lesser amounts of E-rank beasts,” Rhea said as the group of five used the exposed roots of trees to cross the swamp below them. They hopped from root to root, having been at this for the past 20 minutes. “How the hell did we even get here,” Scry spat in annoyance after landing before leaping again.“Yeah! The way I see it, getting out of this swamp if you fall in would be very difficult. It works like quicksand,” Rhea frowned slightly. “Not just that, the bones hovering above seemed to have had their flesh absorbed. Try not to fall in.”Ave's eyes drifted shortly to Rhea.“The roots don’t seem to be harmed, tho,” Joe pointed out.“It’s either they have adapted to becoming strong enough to withstand the environment, or it's harmless to plants, only consuming animals, beasts, and, of course, humans.” Rhea accessed all this, having displayed good leadership qualities so far. “This is dangerous. During the tracking, the group noticed a few battles along the way. What they observed was quite shocking.Art had fought multiple beasts more than once. All in the middle of the night.Looking around, this was the biggest scale of damage that they had encountered, so the fight here was definitely extreme. The bodies of E-rank beasts were littered around; some were whole, while others weren’t.‘I can see how he was able to rack up so many points. Just who is this guy? I could learn a thing or two from him,’ Scry looked around in thought.Rhea observed the corpses of the beasts as well as the environment, and from the time she spent watching him, she already knew his fighting style to an extent. “It’s definitely him. We’re on the right track,” she looked at Ramond with a smile.A smile also appeared on his face as he felt more confident of himself than before. “This way,” he said, dashing away as the group followed after. It wasn’t before long that they found themselves at a stream.

A frown crept onto Art’s face after the hot feeling in his hands left. [Energy Drain Completed] [+10 stat points]It was less than he had expected.Well, since we used little to no effort taking down the beast, expecting more would just be greedy. He held his head as a brief wave of dizziness washed over him before quickly fading. It was the usual side effect, though noticeably weaker than the first time. Probably because he hadn’t absorbed much this time. The beast lay still on the ground, even after Art removed his hand from its head. It was alive—but paralyzed. Completely unable to move. That was the effect of the Energy Drain skill. Victims became husks—empty vessels. And even now, Art didn’t know how long the paralysis would last… or if it would ever fade at all. With one swift motion, he ended the beast’s life and secured the EXP.The number on his shoulder—his rank—rose slightly, and new digits began to appear. A tally of his total points earned. Since he had only one D-rank

Lowering his mana aura, Art walked through the forest, which was indeed less dense than the one used during the raid.He didn’t want to scare off any beasts by giving off too much presence, which was why he suppressed it. Deep down, he also hoped some contestants would underestimate him enough to attack first. He didn’t want to go around starting fights as he had to build and mold his reputation as an adventurer, and it all began here.So far, he hadn’t encountered any beasts or contestants, nor had he found another ribbon. It was safe to assume the arena was large enough to accommodate all participants without forced conflict. A smart design choice. His vision was currently amplified by the third ability of his mask. Although it was draining his mana, he wasn’t bothered—thanks to the mask, he had a lot more mana than usual. With his current mana points, he could use the enhanced vision for three straight days before running out—assuming he didn’t recover any along the way. The contestants have all been teleported to the new test arena. This is the first main test, structured to assess their performance as individuals..." He proceeded to give a brief explanation of their objectives, which only heightened the crowd’s anticipation. --- Somewhere within the city... A group of four men dressed in black and grey cloaks, their faces mostly concealed, stood silently. In front of them was a display showing the test. "We went through a lot of trouble creating a fake guild just to participate in the recruitment for this test. What if we don't find anyone suitable, or none of them have what we're looking for?" one of them asked. "Worry not, I believe one of them will possess the spark we need," another replied calmly. "They might be criticized by the world for their nature, but we

  • Not just a race

"What? Did he just say a race?""I think so." Murmurs filled the room as some participants tried to wrap their heads around what they’d just heard.A lean boy with spiky black hair and sharp blue eyes looked down at his legs, which were covered with a hard yet flexible black material—engineered specifically to enhance and protect them during sudden bursts of speed caused by his attribute.A smirk formed on his face.'This is it. My time has come.'Meanwhile, another boy stared down at his large, protruding belly. “I’m cooked,” he muttered.Art frowned beneath the black-silver mask. Those closest to him subtly shifted away, sensing the slight but menacing aura that radiated from him.He hadn’t realized that his mana aura was slowly being affected by the mask. Others were very wary of him.Their goal here was simple: perform well enough to get noticed and chosen by a good guild. This wasn’t a deathmatch, so the best course was to avoid serious threats—unless forced.Well, that was how

Two of the four seated individuals turned their heads as Tera proceeded to the last empty chair in the room. This was Zyn, leader of the Seven Blades Guild. The other was a woman with long, spiky black hair and crimson eyes. The three top guild leaders were the only Rowans in this city, so the remaining two Rowans present were from other places. The chairs were crafted from top-grade materials—durable enough to withstand any unexpected outbursts from powerful figures like them, while maintaining comfort and a pristine appearance.Tera’s chair was the only white one among them; the rest were grey. She hadn’t requested this, but it had been arranged regardless to ensure her utmost comfort—especially since Fedinar knew she had some... particular preferences."Tera, so you actually came.
