*Flicker*

The blue eyes of a girl slowly opened with, at first, a blurry vision, which gradually got clearer.

She stared at the ceiling for several seconds, sorting out her memories.

After turning her head to look around the place she was, she concluded that she had been brought back to camp.

‘What happened? The last thing I remember was the group getting attacked by a D-rank beast. I blacked out during the attack, I guess.’

The image of a person flashed in her thoughts. “Art!” She sat up despite the exhaustion she was feeling.

“I hope he’s alright, as well as the others.”

She was currently alone in the room but could hear voices coming from outside.

She was glad to see her teddy bear unharmed beside her.

Grabbing it, she came down from the bed before walking out of the room.

The rays from the sun were very bright today with clear blue skies.

She shielded her eyes with her hand as they adapted to the brightness.

Taking it off, her gaze fell on the people making the noise, who were n

“Sonra, Caitlyn, and Art are no longer with us, so we should take on lesser amounts of E-rank beasts,” Rhea said as the group of five used the exposed roots of trees to cross the swamp below them. They hopped from root to root, having been at this for the past 20 minutes. “How the hell did we even get here,” Scry spat in annoyance after landing before leaping again.“Yeah! The way I see it, getting out of this swamp if you fall in would be very difficult. It works like quicksand,” Rhea frowned slightly. “Not just that, the bones hovering above seemed to have had their flesh absorbed. Try not to fall in.”Ave's eyes drifted shortly to Rhea.“The roots don’t seem to be harmed, tho,” Joe pointed out.“It’s either they have adapted to becoming strong enough to withstand the environment, or it's harmless to plants, only consuming animals, beasts, and, of course, humans.” Rhea accessed all this, having displayed good leadership qualities so far. “This is dangerous. We don’t know how long

During the tracking, the group noticed a few battles along the way. What they observed was quite shocking.Art had fought multiple beasts more than once. All in the middle of the night.Looking around, this was the biggest scale of damage that they had encountered, so the fight here was definitely extreme. The bodies of E-rank beasts were littered around; some were whole, while others weren’t.‘I can see how he was able to rack up so many points. Just who is this guy? I could learn a thing or two from him,’ Scry looked around in thought.Rhea observed the corpses of the beasts as well as the environment, and from the time she spent watching him, she already knew his fighting style to an extent. “It’s definitely him. We’re on the right track,” she looked at Ramond with a smile.A smile also appeared on his face as he felt more confident of himself than before. “This way,” he said, dashing away as the group followed after. It wasn’t before long that they found themselves at a stream.

“Caitlyn! Get down!” a voice was heard, followed by flesh being torn apart. A beast fell to the ground, completely ripped in half.“Are you alright?” Sonra, who was responsible for this, hurried towards Caitlyn, who had fallen with a pained expression on her face.“It’s only a scratch,” she replied, trying to stand up while staring at the cut on her elbow, where blood was beginning to escape from.‘To think that we would encounter this type of beast.’ Sonra looked around. Surrounding them were five plant-type beasts shaped like a mushroom. Two were already dead, tho. They were camouflaged as normal plants since this place had several actual mushroom plants, all about seven feet tall. She and Caitlyn were attacked all of a sudden while they were passing. If anything, these types of beasts had very limited mobility but possessed body extensions, which helped to cover for this.If you’re able to get out of the range of these body extensions, then there is no need to worry. Sonra instinctively pushed Caitlyn back to protect her, just in case of anything, while glaring warily at the rest. “What’s going on here?”She was most definitely ready to defend both of them.Normally, she would most likely not have attempted this for someone she didn’t know well, especially if someone strong like the professor were to get involved, as this could turn out badly for her.But here she was.Maybe it was the weird feeling of admiration she got when Art stood up for the unconscious Caitlyn against Vlarth.A smile formed on the face of Professor Verone. “I like the way you reacted, but there’s no need for that. Be at ease…”Sonra’s eyes widened slightly as Verone moved from her seat, placing a hand on her shoulder. During this time, Sonra was only able to raise her hand halfway.“Come closer,” she said as Sonra and Caitlyn walked towards her, standing just a meter away from the other group.“You see,” Professor Verone started to explain the situation. “This party over he

*Sigh*“How did I get separated from my party? I guess I’m lost,” muttered a boy with blue hair and eyes. He was currently walking alone in a plateau region, which was the nature of the terrain where group Aldra was brought. This place was mostly made up of high and low rocks and plains, so it was more of a desert. But there was some vegetation here and there. He was with his party members not too long ago but decided to take a detour. He tried regrouping after, but they were nowhere to be seen.“Wait! They couldn’t have ditched me, right?”After checking the map with his relis, he let out another sigh. “I’m far away from camp. This is a good thing, I guess, since most of the beasts around there have already been hunted.”His expression suddenly turned sour as he clenched his fist. “That twerp!”In the early hours of today, he was about to engage in a fight against three E-rank beasts when he heard a piercing sound coming from behind. He was barely able to get away as a mana-coate

“Please, take me as your student,” Viron humbly bowed his head. He had not expected to meet someone like this here. “Now that’s the spirit,” Zenchi nodded with a smile. “You should have just said so earlier.” “My apologies,” Viron bowed even lower. ‘I hope he’s not offended. I’m ashamed that I didn’t recognize him earlier.’ “Come on now, there’s no need for this much formality. You can stand upright.” Viron did just that as Zenchi went back to sit on the rock. “If I may ask, what is someone like you doing here?” “I was bored. That’s all.” He waved nonchalantly, drinking another gulp. “By the way, how is Viden doing?” His eyes didn’t fail to notice the slight change in Viron’s expression before he replied. “I’m not sure. It’s been some time since I last met him. But if something bad happened, I would’ve been notified.” “I see.” He was in thought briefly. “Back to business. We’re going to start right here and now, but since you’re participating in a raid, I will work more with w

“What do you mean by 'nothing'?” Zenchi asked, disbelief etched across his face. “You’re just being unserious. You should be able to do this. It isn’t that hard.” “But weren’t you the one who said that only a few people can use this because of its difficulty?” Viron shot back. “Yes, I did, but you’re among those few,” Zenchi insisted. “How can you be so sure?” “I just feel that way. My intuition is rarely wrong.” “That’s what a lot of people say, and most of them end up being wrong.” The two continued their debate until Zenchi let out a defeated sigh. “Isn’t there a better and faster way?” asked Viron, frustration creeping into his tone. Zenchi stared at him for a few seconds, his expression unreadable. “Fine. Let’s make this more practical. I said there wouldn’t be any physical contact or direct help, but I’ll make an exception this time.” He approached Viron, a bottle of beer in his left hand, and placed his right hand firmly against Viron’s back. “If this doesn’t work, then

“Good. You see it too, right?” Zenchi called out. Viron’s only response was to dash off in that direction. “Hot-blooded youths,” Zenchi muttered, shaking his head with a sigh. Viron materialized at a spot on the ground, eyes fixed on it. His speed had increased dramatically since learning the new technique, and he felt a surge in his overall magical control. Every bit of his magic attribute was now more accessible to him. He demonstrated this by activating his magic skin, a blend of mana skin and his magic attribute. Unlike before, it stretched further, enveloping his entire arm and extending into his chest and back. He punched the ground, creating a loud bang that cracked the earth beneath him, sending out streaks of lightning strong enough to char the surface. “It's dead,” he muttered, deactivating the magic skin as it began to drain his mana. He referred to a beast similar to one he had slain earlier. Previously, he had to get very close to detect it, but with his new ability,

Art sidestepped effortlessly, and in one swift motion, his leg shot out to trip the guy, sending him crashing to the floor.“Whoa!” the guy in the ripped armchair yelled, jumping to his feet. “Didn’t even see him move!”“Shut it!” The guy with the toothpick barked. He charged next, aiming a low kick at Art’s shin. Art, however, was already behind him, having casually spun around. His hand shot out, grabbing the boy by the wrist and twisting it behind his back. After leaving the courtyard, Art returned to his original plan. There were a few people he needed to pay a visit to.He had worked hard up to this point—gaining strength, overcoming the Academy's barriers, and learning runic teleportation, especially since he lacked the attribute required for it.But there was still one last problem, his presence at the Academy. If he didn’t make contact with others within a week, they would surely come looking for him. This had happened several times over the past month during his period of solitude. The staff would visit his room, ask a few questions, and check on his well-being. While it was nice on their part, it had become a nuisance. And then there was the issue of the Relis. If he left the Academy’s premises while still carrying the Relis, it would give away his location if he stayed too close. If he went too far, the Academy would notice the signal loss. To resolve this, he needed two specific attributes to copy using his new skill. But the re

“Art?” Elora’s voice broke the tranquility of the courtyard, her green eyes widening as she took in his appearance. Her heart-shaped lips parted in surprise, and for a moment, she seemed lost for words. She hadn’t expected him to show up, much less looking so… different. Art inclined his head slightly in a gesture of courtesy. The movement was restrained and formal, but it unsettled Elora. She didn't want him acting this way. “You’re here,” Art said, shifting his gaze to the person he was most familiar with. “Yes,” Asura replied, her bright purple eyes locking onto his. Her keen gaze swept over him, noting the changes not just in his stature but his overall demeanor. This was the first time they’d seen each other since the raid, and Asura could sense that Art had grown. Finally, Art’s attention shifted to the third figure present, the most imposing of the group. A woman in her late twenties stood with her arms lightly crossed. Her long, straight white hair flowed elegantly in the

Art walked through an open pathway, hands in his pockets. He was looking better after finally getting some sleep.Neither Viron nor Sil was in the room. He hadn’t seen them for over two weeks, only occasionally sensing their presence when they returned. The same went for Daste, his third roommate. For some reason, he hadn’t heard anything from his guide during this time. This wasn’t like other instances—it felt different. He couldn’t sense her at all. He believed it had something to do with the body she had told him to hold back in the room back then.Several people were walking and talking around him. From the crowd, he suddenly heard his name.“Art!!!”He turned toward the voice to see Caitlyn running toward him. That’s right, he hadn’t seen her during all this time either. Hmph!A soft grunt escaped as a boy slumped back into the chair he was seated on.His usual spiky black hair now drooped, and his golden eyes—once vibrant—were dimmed by exhaustion, with dark bags beneath them. His complexion was pale, a clear sign of poor health.Anyone who had known him before would immediately notice the stark changes in his appearance. Yet, despite his unhealthy look, there was no mistaking that he had grown stronger. His muscle mass had significantly increased, and the calluses and bruises on his hands told a story of relentless physical training. But perhaps the most striking difference was the aura of magic surrounding him. Even when suppressed, it was intimidating. His roommates, had they been less powerful themselves, might have felt uneasy simply being near him. This was also a result of intense mana cultivating to improve his magic core. All this was the result of one month of grueling training since his return from the Ancient City. Today marked exactly

Within a certain place, A vast, hollowed-out cavern was concealed behind a cascading waterfall deep within the mountains. The roar of the water outside echoed faintly through the chamber, mixing with the low hum of tension that filled the space. The air was damp, and the stone walls were rough and unrefined, scarred with cracks that seemed to form a web around the room. Seven figures stood at different points in the chamber, each occupying their own corner of the expansive space. The dim, flickering light from a series of braziers scattered throughout the room cast long shadows, distorting their forms on the uneven walls. One stood near the entrance, leaning casually against the stone, his arms crossed and his face hidden by the shadow of his hood. Another lingered by a jagged outcrop at the far side, their fingers idly tracing a scar etched into the rock, as if lost in thought. A third crouched low on a raised ledge, their sharp eyes scanning the others like a predator assessing p

“Are you feeling better now?” Sonra asked Rhea, her voice soft with concern. Rhea, like the others, had several bandages wrapped around her body. The rest of their party was in a similar state, their injuries a testament to the ordeal they had just survived. Though they had been congratulated by their superiors for their bravery and promised additional points, the weight of what they had faced left no room for celebration. The atmosphere among them was heavy. Each member was lost in thought, reflecting on the experience of barely escaping death. For most of them, this was their first brush with mortality, and it had left an indelible mark. Rhea’s gaze was distant, her thoughts trapped in a memory she wished she could forget. She kept recalling the tragedy of her childhood, where no help had come in time. If only things had been different, maybe those other children wouldn’t have died. The pain of that day was etched into her expression, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Ramond

The eerie sensation of being watched thickened the air around them. Art and Asura exchanged wary glances, their breaths quickening as the oppressive feeling pressed down on them. It wasn’t long before their worst fears were confirmed. From the shadows, five ash-like humanoid figures emerged, their forms identical to the entity they had barely managed to defeat moments ago.The duo sat frozen on the ground, unable to rise, not because of exhaustion alone but because the sheer magnitude of the threat was paralyzing. The figures moved with unnerving synchronicity, their glowing blue runes pulsing rhythmically like malevolent heartbeats.Four of the creatures stopped at an equidistant perimeter, forming an ominous circle around their prey. But the fifth, larger and more menacing, stepped forward, breaking the symmetry. Its towering frame cast a long shadow over the duo, and its glowing blue eyes locked onto them with an intensity that felt almost sentient.Art and Asura didn’t move. They

“Do you have anything in mind?” She asked, preparing herself. “Yes,” a grin appeared on Art’s face. “I’ve been preparing something during our fight. It’s a good thing we didn’t end up dead before I could use it. I believe that it has weaknesses at some points of its body, which happen to be its magic energy source. It seems that it was made by a mage from long ago, but I’m surprised that it’s still functional and this strong.”"I think delivering powerful hits to these points could destroy it. But I doubt that we'll be able to do that without at least one of us getting killed."He was able to learn all this after he researched rune magic. When they arrived here, he tried creating a teleportation circle that would link to the one he left back in the forest, but it failed. Something seemed to be obstructing it. This showed that he still had much to learn. But if things go well, they might just succeed in defeating it.“Here’s what we’ll do…”***The Ash humanoid, which had been looking
