“Now!!”

*Stab*

“Squish”

A sound was made as Scry, a member of Art’s party pulled out his oddly green-coloured spear from a beast.

(E-rank beats killed: +450)

“That makes this our 9th E-rank beast,” Ave, the archer girl voiced out.

“That one was tough and we managed to get rid of it quickly, so the points naturally turned out great,” Sonra spoke after. “It’s quite unfortunate that we haven’t come across any D-rank beast. They might be a little harder to find than I thought.”

‘Not bad,’ Art said internally. They were doing quite well in terms of overall performance. Even those whose combat abilities were lacking were included. This was mostly due to Sonra.

She was both an excellent fighter and an impressive strategist.

Excluding her and him, Ave and Scry were decent in combat. Sonra was able to identify their strengths and weaknesses and implement them as best as she could to their advantage during a fight. With this, they so far haven’t encountered many hardships while handlin

Since the raid began, they’ve only encountered F and E-rank beasts. This would’ve given them some sort of relief, but that would’ve been before Sonra gave her speech.Since then, they’ve been hoping to meet a D-rank, but now that one has delivered itself right in front of them, they were beginning to wonder if they stood a chance. The beast in front of them could best be related to an about four-meter tall fox, completely covered with black furs, while possessing three long furry tails. It had deep yellow slitted eyes which held animosity for the humans in front of it.From its presence, anyone skilled enough could tell that this wasn’t just a regular D-rank beast. It seemed stronger.Excitement grew within Art causing a big smile to creep on his face as he unsheathed his sword and the life steal dagger. Finally, a powerful opponent was before him. After being starved from letting loose for over a month, he could barely control himself. Just after the notification of his HP loss, Art wiped the trickle of blood from his lips while standing up.He watched Sonra and Scry attack the beast and was honestly surprised when it used a direct physical magic attack. After observing from his distance, he realized that truly some sort of paralyzing magic was being used on his other party members, as they’d been in the same position despite the frightened and wary look in their eyes.He also noticed something weird about Caitlyn in particular. Her eyes, hair, and the eyes of her teddy bear were all glowing bright blue.He ignored it at first and was about to go for the beast once more when a notification from his system popped up.[Potential Shingu Identified]He remembered coming across this term several times from the many books he had read.A Shingu is a summoning created when a beast is tamed and transformed into a different kind of creature. Not every tamed beast could go through this process, so finding one of these is rare.

Art stared at the person who just arrived, standing not too far away from Caitlyn who lay unconscious. This was the first time he had seen this person, but he could immediately tell that he was strong and dangerous. It seemed that he had tried to kill the D-rank beast just before it vanished, and if he hadn’t sent that attack, he would have succeeded. The boy who was older than Art by a few years had a constant natural flow of killing intent, and it was in fact scaryIn his current state, it would be best to avoid any kind of confrontation, but that would become inevitable if he tried to hurt the defenseless Caitlyn.Art clasped the hilt his weapons tighter, just in case.“Oh!...That expression…That fighting spirit…That will to protect…WONDERFUL! You are the one I’ve been searching for. Truly…,” his eyes narrowed with a wider grin as his killing intent rose. “I have to unalive you.”“This is bad,” Sonra muttered, wondering how she could handle this situation.“What do you mean? “Why are you losing?”Art didn’t know how he was supposed to answer such a question. It was clear that he was currently the weaker one, so it was only natural to be on the losing side.Although he had a plan that might’ve turned things in his favour just before the dagger hit, it only had a 20 percent chance of working, so he was thankful for the interference.“Rhan? What are you doing here? I had everything under control,” Art casually said while standing up on both feet. It hurt like hell but he had to put up this front. He had fought against the person who just saved him during the deliver the crystal assessment. Their battle wasn’t concluded back then.“It didn’t seem that way to me. But don’t worry I won’t let anyone get you until I do,” he smirked.“Party pooper or not, I’m glad that you could join the party. Now, prepare to die as well,” Vlarth’s expression became even more sinister as the pressure of his killing intent spread around.‘Just how many people has he killed?’ Rhan

But why?’ the party leader thought easily recognizing the person moving towards them.Uramia had adoration in her eyes while approaching Asura, popularly known as the lilac ice queen. She was the only female ranked above her, that Uramia could stare at with such expression in her eyes.“What was that about,” Asura asked with a neutral expression. If she had miscalculated the amount of mana needed to be put into the spell she cast, her party members would’ve been in a dire situation.“A-Are they people over there?” their party leader asked, not very confident.Uramia didn’t like being casually spoken to by people she considered weak, but since they were party members of Asura, they ultimately had her respect.“Yes,” she nodded. “They are at the other end of the attack. Two elite members are there, as well as a former elite.” ‘That’s quite the gathering,' thei

Art was running through the forest with two weapons at hand. One was the life-steal dagger, while the other was a sword. The light from the half moon wasn’t enough to significantly illuminate the forest, so anyone hunting now is taking a very big risk. The most cunning and dangerous beasts operate by this time, using the darkness to their advantage. So it’s just a game of who would be the hunter and prey. The beasts around this time had special organs, or maybe magic that helped them perform better at night, but unfortunately for them, Art wasn’t just running around blindly. He had a few pieces of equipment with him that ensured that the barrier brought by the night wouldn’t be an obstacle. The first was the mask that he had gotten from the store back then which made seeing people’s natural aura along with night vision possible. After the last time he used it which almost led to his blindness, he hasn’t worn it again until now. From a third person's perspective, Art’s face was black,

'They blend in so well. But it’s futile against me,' Art thought, staring in front of him at the many beasts attached to different trees. Their physiology wasn’t something he could compare with any creature he knew from his former world. They were pitch black in color, and the thing that would’ve given them away being eyes that would most likely glow at night were absent. It seemed that they relied completely on her senses to hunt down their prey. It would be impossible for nearly anyone at the students' level to spot them in the darkness by normal sight alone. Their abdominal region was slender, but they had very broad chests and two arm-like structures that were serrated and moved like whips. Their heads were about the same size as a human's without eyes and nose, and they lacked legs, having a tail just like a certain half-human, half-snake myth. From the way they moved, it was clear that they had very flexible bones or none at all. Their movement failed to pr

“Aura release.”With a slash from his life-steal dagger, a golden arc of aura was released, which traveled at incredible speed toward its target. An explosion was created as contact was made, destroying the vegetation around that area, and with that, Art had successfully single-handedly killed 17 E-rank beasts, which was about half of the total that his party had killed. He charged next, aiming a low kick at Art’s shin. Art, however, was already behind him, having casually spun around. His hand shot out, grabbing the boy by the wrist and twisting it behind his back. After leaving the courtyard, Art returned to his original plan. There were a few people he needed to pay a visit to.He had worked hard up to this point—gaining strength, overcoming the Academy's barriers, and learning runic teleportation, especially since he lacked the attribute required for it.But there was still one last problem, his presence at the Academy. If he didn’t make contact with others within a week, they would surely come looking for him. This had happened several times over the past month during his period of solitude. The staff would visit his room, ask a few questions, and check on his well-being. While it was nice on their part, it had become a nuisance. And then there was the issue of the Relis. If he left the Academy’s premises while still carrying the Relis, it would give away his location if he stayed too close. If he went too far, the Academy would notice the signal loss. To resolve this, he needed two specific attributes to copy using his new skill. But the re

“Art?” Elora’s voice broke the tranquility of the courtyard, her green eyes widening as she took in his appearance. Her heart-shaped lips parted in surprise, and for a moment, she seemed lost for words. She hadn’t expected him to show up, much less looking so… different. Art inclined his head slightly in a gesture of courtesy. The movement was restrained and formal, but it unsettled Elora. She didn't want him acting this way. “You’re here,” Art said, shifting his gaze to the person he was most familiar with. “Yes,” Asura replied, her bright purple eyes locking onto his. Her keen gaze swept over him, noting the changes not just in his stature but his overall demeanor. This was the first time they’d seen each other since the raid, and Asura could sense that Art had grown. Finally, Art’s attention shifted to the third figure present, the most imposing of the group. A woman in her late twenties stood with her arms lightly crossed. Her long, straight white hair flowed elegantly in the

Art walked through an open pathway, hands in his pockets. He was looking better after finally getting some sleep.Neither Viron nor Sil was in the room. He hadn’t seen them for over two weeks, only occasionally sensing their presence when they returned. The same went for Daste, his third roommate. For some reason, he hadn’t heard anything from his guide during this time. This wasn’t like other instances—it felt different. He couldn’t sense her at all. He believed it had something to do with the body she had told him to hold back in the room back then.Several people were walking and talking around him. From the crowd, he suddenly heard his name.“Art!!!”He turned toward the voice to see Caitlyn running toward him. That’s right, he hadn’t seen her during all this time either. Hmph!A soft grunt escaped as a boy slumped back into the chair he was seated on.His usual spiky black hair now drooped, and his golden eyes—once vibrant—were dimmed by exhaustion, with dark bags beneath them. His complexion was pale, a clear sign of poor health.Anyone who had known him before would immediately notice the stark changes in his appearance. Yet, despite his unhealthy look, there was no mistaking that he had grown stronger. His muscle mass had significantly increased, and the calluses and bruises on his hands told a story of relentless physical training. But perhaps the most striking difference was the aura of magic surrounding him. Even when suppressed, it was intimidating. His roommates, had they been less powerful themselves, might have felt uneasy simply being near him. This was also a result of intense mana cultivating to improve his magic core. All this was the result of one month of grueling training since his return from the Ancient City. Today marked exactly

Within a certain place, A vast, hollowed-out cavern was concealed behind a cascading waterfall deep within the mountains. The roar of the water outside echoed faintly through the chamber, mixing with the low hum of tension that filled the space. The air was damp, and the stone walls were rough and unrefined, scarred with cracks that seemed to form a web around the room. Seven figures stood at different points in the chamber, each occupying their own corner of the expansive space. The dim, flickering light from a series of braziers scattered throughout the room cast long shadows, distorting their forms on the uneven walls. One stood near the entrance, leaning casually against the stone, his arms crossed and his face hidden by the shadow of his hood. Another lingered by a jagged outcrop at the far side, their fingers idly tracing a scar etched into the rock, as if lost in thought. A third crouched low on a raised ledge, their sharp eyes scanning the others like a predator assessing p

“Are you feeling better now?” Sonra asked Rhea, her voice soft with concern. Rhea, like the others, had several bandages wrapped around her body. The rest of their party was in a similar state, their injuries a testament to the ordeal they had just survived. Though they had been congratulated by their superiors for their bravery and promised additional points, the weight of what they had faced left no room for celebration. The atmosphere among them was heavy. Each member was lost in thought, reflecting on the experience of barely escaping death. For most of them, this was their first brush with mortality, and it had left an indelible mark. Rhea’s gaze was distant, her thoughts trapped in a memory she wished she could forget. She kept recalling the tragedy of her childhood, where no help had come in time. If only things had been different, maybe those other children wouldn’t have died. The pain of that day was etched into her expression, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Ramond

The eerie sensation of being watched thickened the air around them. Art and Asura exchanged wary glances, their breaths quickening as the oppressive feeling pressed down on them. It wasn’t long before their worst fears were confirmed. From the shadows, five ash-like humanoid figures emerged, their forms identical to the entity they had barely managed to defeat moments ago.The duo sat frozen on the ground, unable to rise, not because of exhaustion alone but because the sheer magnitude of the threat was paralyzing. The figures moved with unnerving synchronicity, their glowing blue runes pulsing rhythmically like malevolent heartbeats.Four of the creatures stopped at an equidistant perimeter, forming an ominous circle around their prey. But the fifth, larger and more menacing, stepped forward, breaking the symmetry. Its towering frame cast a long shadow over the duo, and its glowing blue eyes locked onto them with an intensity that felt almost sentient.Art and Asura didn’t move. They

“Do you have anything in mind?” She asked, preparing herself. “Yes,” a grin appeared on Art’s face. “I’ve been preparing something during our fight. It’s a good thing we didn’t end up dead before I could use it. I believe that it has weaknesses at some points of its body, which happen to be its magic energy source. It seems that it was made by a mage from long ago, but I’m surprised that it’s still functional and this strong.”"I think delivering powerful hits to these points could destroy it. But I doubt that we'll be able to do that without at least one of us getting killed."He was able to learn all this after he researched rune magic. When they arrived here, he tried creating a teleportation circle that would link to the one he left back in the forest, but it failed. Something seemed to be obstructing it. This showed that he still had much to learn. But if things go well, they might just succeed in defeating it.“Here’s what we’ll do…”***The Ash humanoid, which had been looking
