It took him 15 minutes to get back with only 7 minutes left before the welcome announcement.

It was going to be held in the large hall which he stood in front of and after walking in over a thousand seats came into view along with the large stage in front of them.

Many people were already present, some had begun familiarizing themselves with others.

He quietly walked to a seat that had fewer people around before taking it.

‘Two minutes left,' he closed his eyes thinking more about the old woman and the strange white feather. She didn’t give him much to go on with and he was hesitant on collecting the feather, but his curiosity got the better of him and now it ended up in his inventory.

He decided to research more about it later but he would have to do it carefully because there was still a lot of mystery behind it.

When he used his inspect skill on it, the feather was a B-rank artifact which was high and powerful but he doubted that it would cause a lot of people to come after him

I guess things are going to get very…. When he saw this at first he didn't want to jump to conclusions but after reading the book there was no doubt about it. He was one of the two missing Elites during the announcement. He opened his palm just like before and uttered two words. “Display rank.”A magical projection of two numbers hovered above his hand. [ 20 ]This was the work of the bracelet. He stared at it for some time wondering how he got such a position and the most probable conclusion he could come up with, was that the current ranking was based on the Academy’s evaluation before admitting them into the school. This would mean that they were under observation from the Royal Academy before even becoming students. In the contest, even though Beatrix, Sil, and Iris had the potential to perform better, they were not given that opportunity, so at the end of the day, the two top performers were him and Lidia because of their last clash. Most likely, they had the highest rank among the six of them. This was just a spe

The next morning,Art woke up early to prepare for his first day in school. This reminded him of his first day in senior high.Just so you know, it wasn’t the best memory. Not wanting to ruin his vibe for today, he tossed that aside. He just finished putting on his uniform and it looked good on him staring at the mirror.Their uniform consisted of a long-sleeved shirt mostly ash and less white with black trousers and shoes. It came along with aiguillettes and a short cape which was optional. The uniforms of the first and second years were similar with the edges of it along with the aiguillettes having different colours. The colours of the first years were silver while that of the second years were gold.Third years had a similar silver colour as first years but they had long capes instead and more aiguillettes. Final or fourth years had long cloaks with golden edges but they weren’t required to be dressed in uniforms, especially outside the academy premises. The shirt of the third a

They got to a large open door that had above its header [1-B], and after walking in, a lot of people came into sight and more were still arriving. The seats which increased in steps formed a semi-circle around the large platform meant for the teacher. The seats were more than enough and wanting to be alone, he separated himself from Viron who had some explaining to give to Sil.He looked around for familiar faces after taking an empty seat in a less crowded area at the back which was higher. He sighted two Elites as he remembers the faces of most of them and they were drawing some attention but it was inferior to that of a girl. This was the same ice girl he met the previous day.‘So she’s also here.’“Gorgeous right?” He heard a voice from behind as he shifted his gaze to the boy who proceeded to seat beside him.“The name’s Greg,” he said outstretching his hand for a shake.“I’d prefer if you talk less,” Art faced front paying no attention to him.“That’s cold,” he muttered, retra

They looked towards the source of this voice to see a girl a little shorter than average with yellow hair worn in a ponytail and black eyes. The expression on her face wasn’t friendly in the slightest and they recalled seeing her just yesterday. ‘This girl………she’s an Elite. But why is she staring at me? Maybe this is my chance.’ Ryan thought as he chinned up and walked towards her. When he got close enough, a gentle smile appeared on his face. “I happen not to be the one you seek. My name is Ryan, and it is an honour to meet your acquaintance,” he said stretching his hand to take hers, but midway he suddenly fell limply to the ground.Art’s eyebrows furrowed seeing this. ‘What kind of magic was that?’“You don’t have to worry. He’s unharmed,” the yellow-haired girl said glancing towards Sil and then to Art. “I apologize for my mistake. I’m guessing you’re the one.”“Is there a problem?” he asked calmly.“Not at all,” she looked towards the others before continuing. “The Elites are g

Art left, leaving some thoughts going through their heads but before any comments could be made, a beeping sound came from their bracelets which indicated that it was time for their next class.“We’ll continue this some other time,” the busty girl said as they all departed.Karon’s gaze drifted toward the two figures who had the potential of becoming his queen. He didn’t know who to give his attention to.They both had the princess title in different ways but the princess of the kingdom was in the same class as him. One by one in lines, they placed their hands on the orbs, and with something similar to a pen and paper, Professor Prisca wrote very quickly not even pausing for a second, which was very impressive.Art’s turn was already drawing closer and at this point, he decided to do nothing. This was mandatory and he wasn’t able to come up with a plausible excuse not to do this.He could only hope for a surprise from the system. The crimson-haired boy placed his hand on the orb with the colour changing to also crimson and the glow was very bright, without a doubt this was a 4th realm talent. This generated some murmuring with some people staring at him in awe.It wasn’t too surprising given he was from a great family. This went on and several people made the orb glow as much or even more than him.Viron and Sil were among them.Viron’s glow was electric blue while Sil’s was silver-ash.Silvers don’t nor

Garron walked into a smaller door within the room.Art assumed it must be where he kept his most valuable items, as strong waves of mana surged out the moment the door opened—only to weaken once Garron stepped inside. Some kind of safety mechanism, most likely.Garron returned about a minute later, a box in hand.Art's gaze locked onto it.This time, the box was pitch black. Strangely, he couldn’t sense anything from it—but he waited patiently.Garron placed it on a smaller table near the edge of the room."Here. Open it."This was his first high-end project since the death of Rena, the former Third Sword.During its creation, he’d realized just how rusty he’d become over the five years without practice. He’d needed to pause at a crucial point in the crafting process and hone his skills on lesser works before returning to the mask. The knowledge he’d begun to grasp from the book Art had given him made a noticeable difference.Much of the ancient information on craftsmanship and alchem

  • Formed Pact

"How did he find out?" Art mumbled while chewing on a fruit. Garron had seen right through him before leaving—clearly, a man who'd dealt with plenty of children and teenagers in his life.Night had fallen, and the synchronized chorus of insects performed a gentle orchestral hum across the forest.Art was currently lying on the thick branch of a large tree, his gaze fixed on the dark sky overhead. This tree would serve as his home for the night, as he had decided not to return to Yuh’s family house. At this point, there wasn’t much reason to go back.Maybe they were expecting him tonight, which, disappointing them on his part, wasn’t great—but sometimes, plans got ruined by circumstance. After everything he had learned, wandering around—especially at night—wouldn’t be the safest move for him anymore. He stared down at the fruit in his hand, his expression shifting into a frown. Not long ago, he was indulging in mouth-watering meals and warm beds. Now, he was stuck with fruit.Sure, he

  • A ticket to revenge

"I'm sorry for your loss. But I think you're making a mistake," Art said firmly. "You decided to throw your talent away because she was killed? Isn't that the same as letting her killer go free?"Garron's face dropped. "You never justified her death. Her killer must be out there, living quite the life.""You think I'm okay with that? There’s nothing I can do!" Garron burst out in a mix of sadness and frustration. "Trying to get revenge would only lead to more death.""And why is that?" Art pressed.Garron let out a sigh. "That armor I made for her, along with the artifacts, were the best I could produce. If her opponent destroyed even those... then anything else I make would be useless.""So, let me get this straight. You stopped crafting because you feel guilty for causing Jira's mother’s death, and you think your skills aren’t good enough to help bring her killer to justice?"Seeing no response, Art shook his head in disappointment. "So if there was a chance to help get rid of the

Art navigated more carefully as he searched for the blacksmith. He couldn’t afford to reveal his identity. He paid close attention to his surroundings, making sure he wasn’t being followed. So far, nothing seemed out of place. But he knew his abilities in the outside world still weren’t sharp enough to trust completely. It took longer than if he had just asked openly, but he finally found the building the boy described. A massive, bleached dragon skull hung above the door, suspended by chains that glowed faintly with runic symbols. Its eye sockets flickered with soft blue light, as if watching everyone nearby. He glanced around cautiously."That must be it," he muttered, eyeing another building nearby before walking over.Art stopped in front of the building, now confident he’d found the right place. The building was tucked between two larger structures, yet it had a more special presence.Made from polished blackstone and silverwood, the shop had faintly glowing etchings across its s

  • Mistaken Identity

Art walked back to where he’d left Kira. She immediately ran toward him the moment he came into view.Art could tell that staying alone was still very uncomfortable triggering for her after everything she’d gone through. "Are you alright?" he asked. She simply nodded, and they both left the area together.Art's next destination was to find an artifact blacksmith.Unlike weapon blacksmiths, who worked on creating or recreating weapons and armor, artifact blacksmiths handled other magical items—like the masks he had. Some blacksmiths were skilled enough to excel in both areas. But there was no way he’d find a good blacksmith in this place. He needed to go deeper into the city, to the mage districts—and taking Kira with him wouldn’t be ideal."Umm... Kira. I have to go to the main city. Do you know which teleportation station leads there?"She described the directions for him. "I'm guessing I can't go with you?""Yeah. It won't be very safe for you," he replied. "Would you be okay going

  • Beneficial Exchange

Under Art's watch, the shop owner loosened the fabric covering the box, exposing its design. The moment it was revealed, an ominous wave of mana surged outward."You might need to protect yourself with mana. It's dangerous," the man warned, raising his gaze to Art.Art wasn’t a newbie in dealings like this. In his former life, he had been exposed to similar situations since childhood. He had learned how to read people—their intentions, their unspoken words. The shop owner was conducting one final test to see if Art was truly worthy of the mask.If Art followed his advice and shielded himself with mana, it would signal that he wasn’t strong enough to naturally endure its aura. That would shatter the illusion of overwhelming strength he had carefully crafted. Someone at A or S-rank wouldn’t even flinch at something of this level, no matter how impressive it was. That said, Art could tell the mask's aura was genuinely dangerous. But he wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip away."Yo

  • Disguise Hunting

Art freshened up and changed his clothes. Most of the clothes he had become tight so he had to buy new ones.Art's plan on becoming an adventurer would pose a lot of risks if he left his face exposed. He needed to keep his identity hidden. Especially as he was sure that he would make a lot of enemies with his character. So he needed to buy a new mask since he had already used the ones he had back in the academy, and they could be linked back to him.He also decided not to use his Silver abilities. So he had to stick to his earth magic and the others he copied.Art wore a black hood to hide most of his face.Just when he stepped out of the house, he heard Kira's voice."Wait!" She said, walking towards him. "Can I come with you?"He wouldn't have agreed to it, but this was the first time that she wanted to leave the house after her traumatic encounter. So he was forced to accept."You'll have to cover your face with something."She nodded before walking in. Coming out shortly after, w

  • Fat Art

Art spent the next ten days staying with them.Just like Yuh's father had said, the registration for the Grand Magus test began three days after Art's arrival. He had already registered a few days ago.Initially, he had planned to leave the day after he arrived, but Yuh’s parents insisted he stay at least until the test began. After all, he was still young and pretty much homeless. Yuh wasn’t sure if her parents would have let him stay had they known what he was capable of.Still, they offered him a roof over his head and plenty of food. With no other alternatives, he accepted. They were good people, and he wasn’t about to reject their kindness. But he wasn’t a freeloader either. The next day, he found a merchant willing to buy some of his items. The merchant couldn’t determine the exact value of the feathers Art had collected, so he offered a low price. Art was convinced they were worth much more, so he held onto them. Instead, he sold some low-grade mana cores—as absorbing them at

  • A way in

Art walked through the streets behind the girl, his arms folded across his chest. He tried to stay composed despite his inner turmoil. --- Moments ago "What did you say?" "I want to thank you properly, and you seem hungry. I can't be sure of anything except that we make lovely dishes at my home," the girl said. Art took a few seconds to reply. He might have been hungry, but he still had his pride. "Ehk-hem! I actually have somewhere to eat. But if you insist, I'll take you up on your offer," he said with a straight face. His reply seemed to please her as she smiled. "My name is Yuh. Please follow me." --- And that was how he ended up like this. He hadn’t paid much attention to her earlier, but now he gauged her physical appearance. She looked slightly older than him, with several injuries and bruises—probably from when she confronted those men. They walked for several minutes, passing many people and buildings along the way. This was the first time he was freely walki
