I Didn’t Do It

Calvin returned to Miranda Dew's house, the events of the past few hours weighing heavily on his mind. The living room was dimly lit, the warm glow from the table lamp casting shadows on the walls. Lizzie, Miranda, and James were hunched over a large wooden table, ancient records and manuscripts spread out before them. Their faces were etched with fatigue, eyes straining to make sense of the faded texts and cryptic symbols.

"Hey, everyone," Calvin greeted, trying to muster a smile despite his recent frustrations. His voice broke the heavy silence, drawing their attention. "Any progress?"

Lizzie looked up, her eyes tired but determined. "Calvin, these records are not detailed, some parts missing, and confusing. We haven't been able to figure out the right method to help me control my powers without exhausting myself or facing danger," she explained, her voice tinged with frustration.
