Calvin felt a cold chill run down his spine, a palpable sense of dread settling in his bones. Despite this, he kept his expression steady for Lizzie’s sake, maintaining a facade of calm. “We’ll figure this out,” he said firmly, his voice carrying a reassuring weight. “I’ll look into the pendant and see if I can uncover anything. For now, you need to rest and recover. We’ll face whatever comes together, okay?”

Lizzie nodded, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. She wiped one away with the back of her hand, her voice small and trembling. “Okay. Just promise me you’ll be careful.”

“I promise,” Calvin said, his voice softening but remaining resolute. He reached out and gently squeezed her hand, his eyes locked onto hers. “I’ll be careful, and I’ll protect you. Now, rest. I’ll be right here.”
