Chapter 14: The Heroine (1)

"ARIANNE!"

GASP!

"Are you okay?"

"... Sis... Ter..."

I didn't know that I was crying in my sleep… It's been a week since we run away...

This forest is full of monsters and said that no one has managed to leave here alive. The forest of no return.

They said that if you set off afoot here, you will be good as dead, only fools who want to go here in the forest. That's why some nobles forbade their sons or daughter to go here to play, even my mother and father warn us.

I said as I'm hugging her waist...

She patted my head and smiled at me but I can see that to her eyes filled with sadness and grudge towards the people who captured our parents...

We are just a commoner with nothing but a happy family. Our heirloom that my mom was so proud of; was only a kettle made of metal and a magi soul of a certain monster... We only use it when my father went home with a simple tea that the nobles wouldn't be able to like...

Just why...!

I gripped both of my hands as I began to tear up.

'it's because of me... If I don't have this stupid magic, then this wouldn't be happening to us...!'

I blame myself; I blame that I have all five Elements of magics...

I hate myself; I should've been the one who should die not them...

I began to sober while hiding my face from my older sister’s stomach.

Not knowing what was I'm thinking she began to gently pat my back and started to hum.

I look at my sister she has a gentle smile of a caring person. Her dark brown long hair that almost reach her waist flattered as a strong wind came.

Her amethyst eyes were looking at me gently with care and love.

I see...

It's because of those nobles... They are prideful creatures who think highly of themselves without a care of what they were stomping at.

We were just a commoner who was living peacefully but now was shattered into pieces because they found out about me...

They want to use me, so whether they manage to take me or force me to come with them will only have one conclusion...

Arianne was only a 14-year-old beautiful face that was almost like a picture of an angel, her sharp but short nose was cute, her amethyst eyes were so beautiful that you'd find lovable, her rosy lips were soft and porcelain skin. She has a petite body that looks perfect to her looks.

Andrei looked at her little sister, she can feel the hatred that was hiding in her little sister's mind. Like her older sister, she should lecture Arianne about this but she can't talk, she can't do that to her little sister because they also have the same idea.

She stroked Arianne's beautiful blonde hair, she has the same hair color as their mother, while her hair was to her father.

She doesn't know what to do to this forest, she has been fighting a lot of monsters for a week without rest, they have no choice but to eat a monster to satisfy their stomach.

Andrei knew that she was almost at her limit, even if Arianne heals her for the wounds that she receives, she knew that her mind wouldn't be able to recover that easily.

She wants to get out there.

She wants her sister to get out of this forest.

'... Even if I have to sacrifice myself just for the sake of Ari, then that's fine...'

She thought to herself.

"Ari, you should rest now... It's already night, see?"

"... After you woke me up you would say that to me...?"

"u... U-Uhm..."

She scratches her cheek as Arianne has a point but she has no choice because her little sister was having a nightmare and won't wake up no matter what she does.

"Big sister should sleep too... I know you haven't had enough sleep for 5 days..."

Arianne knew that her older sister was keeping an eye on every night to see if the place that they were staying will stay safe.

The monster here is a lot stronger than normal monsters.

Arianne knew that her older sister is strong because she was a student at the Alberyl kingdom but got expelled for assaulting a noble.

But her family knew that she was frame. She got a scholarship for her outstanding performance that's why many nobles were angered by it.

Arianne gripped her long skirt.

"no... I can take care of it, Arianne, you should go to sleep, Kay?"

"But-!"

"No 'but' instead you should answer yes to your older sister."

Andrei looked at her little sister's dejected face. She sighs and smile lightly.

"You know that your older sister was strong right?"

"... Hm..."

Arianne looked at her older sister's right arm. She was holding a bastard sword. Andrei was considered to be a prodigy sword mage.

A person who wields a sword and put a magic to his/her sword.

That's the main reason why my sister got accepted to the school of Aberyl kingdom.

But as a commoner, nobles would try to destroy her and they succeed just to put their pride and superiority at a line.

Arianne slowly hating nobles and royalties for their foolish mindset.

She has full of hatred and grudge towards nobles, she believes that all nobles weren't good people and just want to abuse of who they are.

What is noble?

What is the purpose of being a noble?

What is their reasoning?

What action they should use?

She wants an answer to those question in her mind.

Why do they need their pride as a noble when they are using dirty means for themselves for such an underhanded method?

Shouldn't nobles protect their citizens and gave them a peaceful life?

We commoners serve a noble because they have a higher position than us, they are the ones who was given a title by our king to serve his country. A position that they were given to serve the king and to give the people inside of the kingdom of a supposed well-being.

But...

She remembers the orc like marquess who suddenly barged in to their house and ordered his knights to knocked off my father.

She knew even if Andrei wouldn't say it that both of their parents were already dead...

The peaceful family that she was used to, a happy family and only a commoner who supposed to last were now gone by the hands of that noble.

Her eyes were filled with a blazing determination, she loathed nobles, not just the marquess all of them.

The marquess was not the only person who came to their house, but lots of nobles who wanted to marry Arianne to their heir.

Arianne was thinking... How did they know about it when her parents hid the fact that she has all of the elements of magic?

That she has the possibility of being a Saint.

She doesn't know how but the fact that the nobles was the reason why her family came to an end was enough for Adrianne to hate them. Loathe them.

"no... Older sister should sleep at the cave... I can be the guard for the night."

"Ari-!"

"Older sister I know your already exhausted... And... I have the possibility to be a Saint and I have all the elements, right? 

Shouldn't be enough to protect the both of us?"

Andrei was surprised by the words that her little sister said. She has a point but Andrei was still worried.

Yes, Arianne has all of the elements except dark but her little sister doesn't have any experience when it comes to fighting, she was worried that she might hurt herself and worst die.

Andrei was about to retort but she saw the determination of her little sister and has no choice but to accept it.

She sighed and nodded hopelessly as she knew her little sister won't break even if she shouted angrily.

Little did she know that Arianne practices her magic secretly when she was 8, yes. Arianne found out her magic when she was 8 years old and act at the age of 12 to her parents by creating an ‘accident’ that they will notice that she has magic. She was still a child who doesn't know about the outside world back then, she didn't know that exposing her power would come to this.

She just wants to see her parents to be proud at her and praise her.

It came, she was praise and her parents and older sister were proud of it but at what cost?

Their parents’ death.

And the situation they're in.

Who would have thought that a simple idea of a child would come to this?

Arianne started to hate nobles and herself.

She believes that everything what happen to them was because of her.

She blames herself for exposing her magic.

Arianne blames herself for how she thinks on her past self.

Her mind right now matured due to the tragic event that she was experiencing.

When she checked her big sister who was already asleep.

She sighed heavy and made a goal for herself.

"I'll become stronger and show to those nobles especially that marquess of who they mess with...!"

She gripped her fist and started to chant.

" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~; come Fort: Light Barrier!"

Arianne created a light barrier to herself and also to her big sister. It will deflect any physical attack and also it will heal even the mental of the patient who was inside of the barrier.

She smiled at Andrei who's sleeping peacefully.

She wanted to be strong to protect her big sister because she is the only one left as her relative in blood and flesh in this world.

She begun to guard the place; she remembers what happen last two days ago. They heard a large sound and lots of monster was running away from the scene.

They don't know what was happening but Andrei and her; felt something ferocious is not far away from them, a lot stronger than the monster that Andrei had killed.

The loud noise was not far away and not that close.

They began to run as sweat on their forehead started to appear.

They had to get away from it.

They need to survive for their parents’ sake.

Arianne still remembers when she almost died when a large horizontal pillar came at her. It was dark and gray color with a black sparkling at it. The wave-pillar is large thrice as the size of a large rock that much bigger to her and older sister.

The large mana wave stopped 10 m away from her.

It's not that far from her but she knew at the large mana wave speed if it continues, that thing will reach her in a matter of seconds without her knowing.

Cold sweat at her back begun to flow as her legs became limp of what happen, her older sister started to lift her as she has no strength left due to what happen.

Her older sister looks composed back then as she didn't notice that Andrei almost give up when she saw that her little sister almost died due to that powerful mana.

Both of them has a cold foot enduring the pain and force their selves, longing to survive.

Arianne shivered remembering what happen 2 days ago.

If they stop running back then she knew she will die.

She embraces herself as she shakes her head.

" Relax... Inhale... Exhale... Deep breathe.... Deep breathe... Everything is fine... Ari... You can do this..."

Arianne said as she encouraging herself.

While she was guarding, she was practicing herself to master each element of her magic.

Fire, water, earth, wind and light.

These five elements where she was specializing with. She keeps changing her magic, fire to earth, earth to wind, wind to light, light to water.

She didn't realize that her mana capacity is slowly increasing as she keeps practicing magic that need to used her mana.

- 5 hours later –

"whoo..."

Arianne heaves a sigh as she finishes practicing magic. It's almost midnight and sun were starting to rise her older sister were still asleep.

She was about to stand up, when suddenly a rattling sound came from a nearby bush, Arianne just stared at the bush until a big silhouette came to her sight.

She choked up when she saw the appearance of the monster.

Large fatty arms and legs, pig face with 2 horns, large body thrice to human size, it's height is around 6'9

Large belly and orange-is skin. And foul smell around it...

"O-orc...!?"

The orc notices her appearance then smirks; saliva starts to drool at the orc as it sees Arianne standing there in front of it.

She paled at the appearance of the monster in front of her.

She knows what is orc is. It was a monster strong enough to kill 4-5 knights alone. Orcs are famous for 'Harassing' a woman.

Arianne is not an exception.

She isn't aware of what kind of Harassment it was.

She began to chant her magic.

Two magic circles appeared at the top of her sides. It produced a fire that had a shape of a large ball. The other is multiple forms of needles. However, these needles are transparent and made of wind.

She cast both spells with wind and fire.

Out of panic, she shot the magic fireball and wind, that formed into the smallest particles like a needle.

"[ Fire ball], [ Air needles!]."

The fireball and air needle started to fly towards the orc with a

 the speed that of a that would be hard to dodge.

When the magic manages to hit the orc in the face, Arianne sighed a relief as she put her left hand on her chest.

However

Arianne's eyes widened when she saw the orc had no damage.

The orc looked angry as it moved towards Arianne.

In Arianne's eyes, the orc suddenly disappeared into the thin air. In a matter of seconds, the orc was in front of her.

Her legs betrayed her as she fell to the ground shaking.

Arianne choked up when she sees the orcs getting close to her, as they continued.

Hiccup

She saw the large thing in front of her as the orc was only wearing a tattered cloth at its lower part.

She started to pale and paler as she realizes what kind of harassing it was.

She started to cry as she doesn't know what to do, she wants to call her older sister for help but her voice betrayed her as she won't make a single noise.

"Grrr... oink..."

The orc stretches its large fatty arm towards Adrianne, she doesn't know what to do, she was scared.

She was not in her right mind.

She just keeps looking at the large hand that slowly coming to her.

The orc smirked then rashly stretched its arm towards the human in front of him.

Swoosh!

Spurt!

Something flew to the sky as its flowing blood.

It was the large arm of the orc that flew at the sky.

The orc cried loudly enough to call the other orc.

5 orcs came in and saw the situation of their kind. The orc in front of them crying at its lost arm and a human that was covered in the yellow-ish barrier.

Arianne was surprised at the barrier that she had created, she was surprise of how powerful it is enough to cut the large arm of an orc.

She soon has met with another 5 orcs that are wearing armor and holding a cub and mace.

She knew that no matter how powerful her barrier is, it doesn't mean that it will not reach its limit.

The five orcs angrily attacked her simultaneously.

Banh!

Baganh!

KLING!

Stahkk!

Each of their weapons got deflected by the barrier.

Adrianne was scared, sweat started to pour on her hands and forehead. She saw that the barrier that she creates was slowly reaching its limit as she saw the small cracks on the barrier.

She doesn't know what to do, her older sister was still asleep, maybe because she hadn't slept for 5 days.

'If this continues...!'

She became pale again... Her body trembled as she imagines her outcome.

She hugged herself and unconsciously started to create each kind of spells

That spell that contains the fire, water, wind earth, keeps hitting the orcs.

But as she was now, those attacks were nothing but a pebble to these orcs.

She's still weak because no one was able to teach her. Her mother was only a wind user, her father was a warrior her older sister is a sword mage because she knows how to use sword and wind magic.

That wasn't enough for a person who excels at everything.

She started to cry as she slowly lost hope.

Then

BANG!

She looked up at the 6 orcs cornering her. Both their lower parts started to rise.

She cried more and started to speak desperately.

"SISTER! MAMA, PAPA HELP ME!

UWAAHH... HELP ME! SISTER!

SOMEONE, ANYONE!"

The six orcs stretch their arms to the human and grab her legs.

"NO! NO! NO! SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME! MAMA! PAPA! SISTER!!!"

That's the moment Andrei woke up because of the loud crying noise coming to her little sister.

"Arianne!"

She saw it, six orcs were about to assault her little sister, she started to pale and anger blinded her.

She run as she could, unfortunately, she was still exhausted and slowly lost her strength.

"No!!!"

"UWAAH!! OLDER SISTER HELP ME!!!"

SWOOSH!!!!

A sharp gust of wind passed by at the orcs. The human that they were about to assault suddenly disappear at their hands.

They didn't know what happen.

Andrei was surprised as she saw someone caring her little sister into princess style...

No, she thought it was someone due to its silhouette appearance.

When she looks closely, the silhouette wasn’t a human but a black figure. It was faceless but has a body of a male.

'A monster...?'

"OOOOIIIINNNKKK!!!"

Andrei looked at the orcs, she saw that blood splattering in their private part and their arms were cut in flesh.  They began to cry disgustingly as the black silhouette put down her little sister to her gently.

"Arianne!"

Arianne opens her eyes and saw her big sister.

"Sister.... anndrei... Hic... Hic uuwwaaahh!!!"

She hugged Arianne as she knew if the silhouetted person weren't able to save her little sister, Arianne would suffer a greater loss.

She looks at the 'monster' that has a human body.

She widen her eyes as she realize that it was made of mana.

" Dark magic...?"

She realized that the silhouette wasn’t a monster but mana that was made by a person, it's called shadow magic.

That's why...

She was surprised... How can shadow magic severe huge damage to those orcs? What's more, it cut their private part and arms without her noticing nor realizing it.

" Kill those monsters, cut them to pieces enough to be our food... Kay?"

Arianne and Andrei looked up at the voice and saw a girl whose age was around 12-14, she was wearing a short sleeves and brown pants for men.

She has light platinum blonde hair and Purple-blue eyes, a slight plump cheek, and beautiful pinkish lips. She has a nice body; she looks like a beautiful art that can mesmerize each man.

Suddenly, in her shadows, something slowly rose. It was the same appearance of the black person that save Arianne.

Andrei was surprised as she realized that the girl was the one who save her little sister.

Not long after 10 shadowy figures started to appear and attacked the orcs simultaneously.

The other shadowy figure their arms form of a sharp weapon as they slice the orcs. The other shadow figures their legs form into the blade and slash the orcs horizontally.

Andrei and Arianne watch the orcs getting cut into mincemeat. Andrei covers Arianne's eyes as the organs of the orcs come off.

"ah please throw their organs later and feed it to those dire wolves. Thank you max."

The silhouette figure who save Arianne nodded at the girl.

"now then..."

She looked at us, she gave a gentle smile, she looks like an angel that descended from heaven.

"I'm sorry and thankful"

"eh?"

The girl bowed at us with a form of respect and noble etiquette.

"We steal your meals and kill those orcs that are supposed to be yours..."

"n-no actually-"

Before I could finish my words, she interrupts me.

'Why does it feel like she didn't know what happen?'

" No, it's my brother's fault when his magic came here, he said that these orcs were supposed to be yours originally but he has no choice but to help when he heard a crying scream. And saw 6 orcs Cornering the both of you. That's why I deeply apologize and am thankful that we manage to save both of you..."

" n-no it’s fine... It's actually-"

" Ahh, miss excuse for my rudeness but can we talk somewhere else? "

Suddenly, a man’s voice came at their back which startled her and Arianne who's still at her arm.

" w-who...!? "

" Eh? Brother, why are you here? Shouldn't you suppose to hunt a boar? "

"Well yes and I place it to the cave we were in, so Ana please help her umm...? Excused me can you introduce your names?"

"y-yesh!"

Andrei looked at her little sister who was blushing cutely.

'Ah... No way...'

"no... Way... There's no way right...?"

Andrei looked at the girl or the one who called Ana who's looking at her little sister as she spoke those words in disbelief...

'Did she notice it too?'

"I-I'm a-Arianne! And my I-older sister name is A-a-Andrei!!!"

Andrei looked at her little sister who has a puppy love. Her lips twitch as she saw her little sister blushing even her ears were red.

"hehe he... How cute... Ehem.. Now Ana can you take care of miss Arianne for now and I have something to talk to her older sister... Wait... Why are you looking at me like that?" said by the man.

"seriously stop that look it's scaring me... A.. M-miss Andrei please follow me, please... Just. Please!"

" Rael... Let's talk later... Let me fill that brain of yours and that tongue some lesson m'kay?"

"Crap... Did I do something...?"

Rael mumbled as not to hear them but Andrei heard it enough.

'Yeah... Playboy...'

Andrei entrust Arianne to Ana.

She then followed Rael with confusion.

When they are far away to tee two girls, Rael quickly put both of his hands closely as he bowed to Andrei.

"Please don't tell to my little sister what really happen! She didn't know that your little sister was about to experience something! I don’t want my lovable little sister to know about it!"

"e-e~H...."

Andrei found out...

That Rael was a siscon

It was this encounter that change everything. without Rael knowing... Even if he realized it he will only think and say.
