Chapter 24: A Bet

Raymond had just finished the task Mayor had assigned to him when a messenger walked in.

She looked from Raymond to Mayor before focusing her gaze on Mayor who was fast asleep on his chair.

Ever since Raymond joined him, he no longer functioned.

He was always sleeping or, every so often, he was out of the office.

He didn't mind staying out for the whole day because he felt Raymond was around, and he was going to handle things perfectly.

Raymond didn't complain, even for once.

The messenger was lost on what to do, so after staring at the sleeping beauty for a while, she cleared her throat loudly.

Mayor jerked from his sleep.

Thinking it was Stella because of her intimidating stance, he began to fumble with his spec that was determined to hit the ground.

When he stabled himself and discovered it wasn't Stella, he frowned and with a scowl asked,

“What do you want?”

“I was asked to hand this to you,” she said and after a curt bow, she took her leave.
