Chapter 1 The night before the raid (1)

Lying down in a beautiful garden, staring up at the sky, looking at countless bright shining stars, I was curious, will I ever be able reach and explore all of them.

It feels like a dream of a naïve kid yet there is nothing impossible in this realm in which we mighty Dragon lives. We have power to turn cities into dust just by breathing , trample any castle under our feet's and with our abilities we can lay waste to a planet given enough time, but that is not my goal.

Our race has encountered and conquered many planets with their strength, subdued even demons in the past and held themselves as gods.

Because of that thinking we committed countless atrocities on other intelligent species and the result of which is now we are all sealed in the distant edge of the universe sharing only one third of the known universe.

But everything will be resolved after tomorrow's raid. The tyrannical rule of Dragon king will end tomorrow and there will be birth of a new King/Empress which will lead dragon realm to new heights, about which I don't give a damn.

I am happy as long as I can kill the king and get to venture the unknown which resides on the other side of our dragon realm. Thinking about the limitless possibility I clenched my fist in excitement and the area few feet around me which was filled with beautiful flowers and grass turned into small crater.

"Shit, Eva wouldn't like it." I cursed out loud waking up from my thoughts.

"I should find some servant and better clean up this mess" I thought. Just then I heard the rhythmic sound of footsteps approaching from behind and just by hearing them, I knew that it was too late.

I thought of just disappearing from this place using [Void Step] but realizing that the mana signature left behind will give me away I stayed rooted in place.

Considering I was the one who called Eva to meet me here… uggghh there were so many evidence and too little time, thinking in my mind I decided to just tell a different truth.

"Have you called me here to show me, the work of art you have made out of my beautiful garden, is it Alex?" Eva questioned me in angry tone.

"Because if that is what you are thinking, then you should better be prepared to face the consequences."

"Well, to tell you the truth, I was just too excited to meet you today that I lost control of my powers for a moment, you know how my power works don't you?" I told the different truth of course, if I told her that I was too excited to kill her father tomorrow god knows how our meeting will be like.

As per my deduction in the little time I had, I could only think of half assed idea of blaming my power, well i had total control over my power but sometimes a simple gesture of walking made space around me tremble that is why i made my power a escapegoat.

It has saved my life countless times and this is one of those instances.

I could see Eva's cheeks turning little red but before she could reply me I continued.

"You have whole night to scold me, but before that let me clean some uninvited bugs." I said annoyingly.

[Dragon Tongue: Show Yourself]

It was a very convenient ability to deal with much weaker opponent then us but required quite a bit of mana. But for a Primordial Dragon like me it was a teaspoon of mana from an infinite ocean.

A shadow bubble stretched out from Eva's shadow and a female dragon at the rank of Dragon King stepped out from shadow holding her breath with a terrified look on her face, understanding that I have overdid it, I released the restrain of dragon tongue.

Eva turned her attention from me toward the female dragon, "Didn't I tell you to not follow me?"

"I am sorry master, but king Azmath has specifically ordered me to stay with you and guard you all the time." She spoke while avoiding my gaze.

"let me give you some advice because you are new, if you want to survive as a caretaker of Eva, Keep two things in mind."

"First don't mess with her garden and second don't interfere when she is with me." I said in a mocking tone behind which a clear threat was hidden certainly Eva won't kill someone for messing with her garden but I will definitely kill her if these low level kings thugs interfere in out meeting.

"Just go and have some rest, don't worry about me Jennie." Eva said in an irritated tone because she knew that this peoples where more of a spy of king then caretaker while thinking this, she turned toward me.

"So what brings the mighty Primordial Void dragon Alex to this humble abode?" She said every word containing huge chunk of sarcasm.

"Come on Eva, There is no need to be this angry just because i destroyed few flowers." I said.

"You know I am not angry because of some flowers you have destroyed and you know it." She said her voice containing lots of worries; she paused and finally said what was on her mind." I don't want you to go on tomorrow's Raid."

I had an idea why she doesn't want me to go and it has been always like that since we have become close.

That is why I always used to avoid her whenever I have to go on a Raid, so that my determination doesn't waver, but I understood her worries and that is why some part of me wanted to meet her before I leave.

"Your worries are in vain, just like any other time dear, do you think there is anything that can harm me in that tower." I said with a wide smile on my face hoping to convince her but I knew that the real threat she was worried about was not tower but someone else.
