After undoing the hug, Bartolomeo leans back at the head of the king-size bed. Reginaldo feels refreshed to see his father. No one needs to ask ‘forgive me’; this was already implied in the look and smile of both.

Anestor smiles and retreats to leave father and son alone.

"Dad, I’m very happy to be able to see you again."

"And I’m very happy to save you." Bartolomeo remarks.

Reginaldo sits on the mattress, "I think I deserve to hear 'I told you so'..."

Bartolomeo denies with a wave of his hand, "No use crying over spilled milk. Especially when I know it wasn’t you who spilled it."

Reginaldo frowns, "As seen, Anestor told you everything."

"Son, this Ferreira family needs to pay for what they did to you for three years. Let me get this straight: Did they force you into a loveless marriage to their daughter by threatening to send you to jail for raping her?"

"Exactly, but I didn’t force myself on her. We both got excited about alcohol, and she was the one who found me." Reginaldo crosses
