Reginaldo and Laura look at each other indignantly. They suspect Henry of having done something to Paula to make her run away, but now, Henry is taking advantage of a detail to play the victim.

Reginaldo decides to be transparent, “OK, but don't think we want to hear you! My father came here to see this ridiculous engagement up close. He talked to you and called me, but he didn’t say he was going to talk to Paula.”

“Of course, the old man was very cunning and mean!” Henry yells.

“He only told me before dinner.” Laura states, “He also asked Paula to reconsider the engagement.”

Henry shakes his head dissatisfiedly, “No, he must have said something else. Paula wouldn't be too upset just because of that. There are a lot of people telling her not to marry me. One more comment from Uncle Bart wasn't going to change her mind.”

Reginaldo takes a deep breath, “Well, there is a possibility that this robbery has nothing to do with what we’re thinking. The fact is that the police believe that Pau
