Katsuo returned to the daffodil garden in pain.

"Quite curious. I never expected your reunion to go like that"

Aeternitas was right. Katsuo didn't expect it would turn out like this either. He was under the impression that it would be a heart-wrenching parting but his father ended up beating him up.

He shouted obscenities at Katsuo and hit him in anger. His mother and sister managed to keep him down but what he said still hurt Katsuo.

"You are a proud son of the Kazama lineage. I won't allow you to wallow in pain even in my dreams. So what if you died!? Be a man about it and hold your head high!"

That resonated with Katsuo and it left a bad taste in his mouth. He didn't want to hear that from his father during their farewells.

"Neither did I but I guess it was necessary" then Katsuo bowed to the Goddess. She was a divine being worthy of his worship and he was deeply grateful to her for letting him meet with his family for one last time. He didn't know if he could worship her with all his heart but at least he didn't want to treat her with hostility anymore.

"You may rise"

Aeternitas seemed pleased with Katsuo's change in attitude.

"Have you given any thought to what else you desire as your compensation?"

"Before I answer can you tell me more about Hellariath?"

Katsuo had given it some thought but he still wanted to know more about 'Hellariath'. What if he asked for magic powers and the world ended up being a steampunk world? Then his wish would be useless.

"Hmmm, Hellariath is a world of magic. There are 3 continents in the world but most of the population is concentrated on the biggest one which is named Hellariath hence the reason why the world is named as such. Most of the world is populated by humans but the strongest country is named 'Azra', a country of non-humans"

Katsuo was listening carefully, trying to burn every word of Aeternitas to his mind.

"Non-humans? Can you elaborate on that?"

"Elves, orcs, dwarves and halflings"

He was genuinely surprised, from his bootleg fantasy knowledge those races were not supposed to get along. He didn't know about halflings as this was the first time he heard of them but the other three were staple fantasy races and they shouldn't be able to get along. To top it off all four came together to found a country.

"How?"

"It's all because of that annoying Elf Queen, otherwise my children would already be ruling the world."

Aeternitas seemed displeased by this situation. Katsuo then remembered that one of her titles was 'Guardian Deity of Humanity'. She wasn't even trying to hide her favouritism. Was it really okay for a divine being that created the world to show such favouritism? Katsuo wanted to ask more but he didn't want to spoil Aeternitas' mood so he decided to change the subject.

"Then is that world dangerous?"

"In the grand scheme of things? No, it would only be average. Compared to your world? Yes, it would be extremely dangerous"

"What about things like Demon King?"

"There was an invasion from the Demon World about a millennia ago but my children managed to seal the passage. The only demons you might encounter are stragglers from back then"

"Understood, then your holiness, if I might impose on you I would like to ask for 3 abilities going into that world"

"Good, I was starting to get bored of this conversation. Just a reminder that I can't make you immortal or anything of such. Also depending on your requests, I might not grant all three of your wishes. However, if I find them easy I can grant you more than 3 abilities. So let's hear it. What do you want?"

Katsuo felt like Aeternitas became lively all of a sudden, like a kid who got her hands on a new toy. He wasn't sure about this but he felt like Aeternitas found the notion of granting him abilities fun.

"First of all, I would like to ask for a system"

"System? What's that?" Aeternitas looked lost.

Katsuo looked baffled.

"You don't know?"

"Come here"

Aeternitas commanded Katsuo to come next to her.

He was a little confused but he obeyed her will nonetheless.

"Kneel"

Once he arrived next to her Aeternitas commanded Katsuo to kneel. Once he did, she held his cheeks and planted a kiss on his forehead.

"W-what?"

"So this is what a system is?"

As Aeternitas let Katsuo go, he fell backwards. Both of them were focusing on entirely different things.

"It looks similar to the thing demons use but it shouldn't be hard to make?"

"How do you suddenly know what a system is? Is-is it because of the k-kiss?"

"Why are you stuttering all of a sudden?" it was then a mischievous smile settled on Aeternitas' lips. "Oh, how could I forget? You were a virgin, weren't you? I guess it must have stimulated you"

"N-no. A-and you haven't an-answered my qu-question"

Katsuo held his hand over his heart.

*Thump* *Thump* *Thump*

He could feel it beating it furiously. This was the first time in his life he felt like this. Normally, if his heart beat this fast he would already be having a heart attack. It didn't feel bad.

It didn't feel bad at all.

But it was making it hard for him to have a conversation.

"Well, I just accepted you as one of my believers so everything you know, I know it as well. Don't forget, from this moment onward you are my believer so no cheating okay?"

"*Inhale* But aren't divine beings supposed to be omniscient?"

"And we are omniscient and omnipotent but only in the confines of our own dimension. Let me give you an example. In the Norse mythology of your world, there is an event called Ragnarok, in other words, apocalypse. And it was prophesized that it would start with the death of an Aesir called Baldur. So her mother Freya, wife of Odin decided to make everything in existence swear that they would never hurt Baldur. So Baldur became immortal. Now question? How would you kill Baldur?"

Katsuo knew the answer to this. He knew about this myth thanks to a game series.

"I would use a mistletoe. When Freya was making them swear she forgot about mistletoe so it could still hurt Baldur. But what's the point of this question?"

"And that's the wrong answer. You are a human being, how could you kill a god with some measly plant? Now if you were a god as well it might have worked but not for you. The correct answer is much simpler. You would just simply draw your gun and shoot him. After all, when Freya made them swear the guns didn't exist yet, so how could she make them swear to not hurt Baldur? And that's what I mean by omniscient and omnipotent but only in the confines of our own dimension"

"I think I understand"

This was actually a good example. So she was still omniscient but only if it was something that existed in her world. If it didn't exist how could she know about it? So there had never been a system in this world? Should he take this as good news?

"So what is your second wish?"

"I want to have a strong heart. A heart that will never grow weak or sick. I have always been afraid that my heart will give up in my previous life so I don't want to have such a fear anymore"

"Just your heart? I can give you a strong body with an especially strong heart?"

Katsuo just shook his head.

"No, even in my previous life my body had always been excellent, it was only my heart that held me back. My family is a famous lineage of warriors so I think it will serve me well"

"Okay, this shouldn't be hard. What about your last wish?"

"I wish to be able to understand every language in the world. I don't know where I will end up but it would be quite inconvenient if I couldn't communicate with the people I met there."

Aeternitas looked troubled by this request.

Katsuo found this weird. He thought that this would be the easiest one among all his requests. After all, she only needed to teach him some languages. It shouldn't be something that hard right?

"Phew, okay I will grant this one as well. I won't grant any other wishes so if you don't have anything else to say I think it's time for you to leave"

Aeternitas looked bothered like she couldn't wait to send him away from this place but Katsuo wasn't done yet. He had one last question to ask.

"What is a Black Star of the Void?"

Aeternitas was already raising her hand but she flinched when she heard this question. Then she smiled.

"I would normally explain this to you but I am annoyed thanks to someone, so why don't you find out what it means by yourself?"

*Snap*

Before Katsuo could even respond to her Aeternitas had already snapped her fingers.

The world around Katsuo started to distort and when he opened his eyes he found himself in the middle of a forest.

This was it!

This was the start of his brand-new life!

Katsuo looked around him. He was in the middle of a lush forest. The leaves of the trees were wide and he could see wines creeping up on the trees. This didn't feel like one of the forests he would see back home. It felt more like one of those rainforests he would see on TV. After he got up Katsuo made sure there wasn't anything dangerous in the vicinity. Once he confirmed he was safe he uttered the words he only said in his dreams. "Status Panel" --- [Name]: Kazama Katsuo [Age]: 16 [Job]: Civilian [Rank]: 0 [Title]: The Traveler [Background]: None [Strength]: 1 [Agility]: 1 [Willpower]: 5 [Vitality]: 4 [Charisma]: 4 [Mana]: 0 [Active Skills]: Appraisal (Max) [Passive Skills]: Heavenly Body (Max), Polyglot (Max) --- Katsuo looked at his status panel but he didn't know what to make of it. He could see his stats but the problem was he didn't know if they were good or bad. Though there were two that he knew were definitely the worst. His agility and strength were bot

As he looked at the beast Katsuo's head started to work as it had never done before. First of all, why could he talk with the beast? Answer; because of his skill [Polyglot(Max)]. Now that he thought about it, in the description it said he could speak any language in existence. That didn't just apply to humanoids. It meant as long as beasts had language he could speak with them. Normally this would be something joyous but right now the situation was too tense for him to stop and start celebrating. Second of all, why didn't the beast immediately attack him? Answer; because he smelled of 'nature'. Again it was because of his passive skill [Heavenly Body(Max)]. The power of nature pulsed through his heart and this was the reason why the beast smelled nature from him. Good. Wait this wasn't everything. The first question it asked was if Katsuo was related to Druids. It meant this beast had some sort of relationship with druids. He didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing b

"Hey, Granny Scarlet! How are you today?" Katsuo said as he dropped the basket of fruits he had just gathered. "It's... okay..." Granny Scarlet answered Katsuo slowly as she usually did. It had been more than three months since Katsuo set foot in this jungle and started his life in the wilderness. At first, it was hard, there was that grey blur that kept stealing his food, and then his arms kept getting scratched whenever he tried to climb a tree. Every night he would pray to Aeternitas, to help him, to guide him out of this jungle and show him the way towards civilization. She never answered his prayers. However, it was okay. He knew that she was a goddess and she couldn't return every prayer. He didn't blame her. He wanted to blame her but he couldn't as she had already granted him a second chance at life, how could he be hostile to her? But in gaming terms, he still felt salty about being thrown in here. His first week was the worst, he was constantly hungry and didn't know

"Happy birthday to me!" Katsuo snuffed the makeshift candle on top of the big mango-like fruit he found. Today was his birthday. He was finally 17 years old. It had been five months since he had been thrown off into this world. He looked at himself. His hands were rough, covered in calluses. He was wearing clothes made off of fur from the animals he had hunted. His original clothes were in tatters and they had already been purposed into something else. His hair was rough and covered in dry leaves. He hadn't been able to bathe in a long time. The air was cold due to the weather. He didn't know if this world followed the same season cycle but it had been snowing for the last two months so there was only a month left till spring. His body was the one that went through the most transformation. He had lean but tough muscles, a characteristic of his lineage. His mother was the same. Even though she looked chubby, her strength was equal to his father's. If someone saw the current him,

*Splash* Katsuo was standing under a waterfall with weights tied to his appendages in a horse stance. He didn't know if this training method had an effect but he had seen it on Samurai Jack so it should definitely work... it will probably work... it had a possibility of working? He hated the cold water in this season, but today he decided to take on this challenge because it was a special day. Today was the day Granny Scarlet's friend was coming to visit her so he needed to look presentable. The snow around the forest was already melting so they were about to enter spring. Such an apt season for the beginning of his new life! "Done!" As soon as his training was done Katsuo escaped from the waterfall. *Brrrt* It was really cold despite the air getting warmer, the water was still cold. Katsuo threw down his makeshift weights and put on his fur clothes. He didn't really like them but this was the best he could craft with his given skills. His fur shirt looked more like a fur po

Unlike his expectations, Katsuo didn't hear from the elf that day. He had to go back to his campsite and sleep for the night. He hoped that she would make up his mind by tomorrow. The wait felt like a torture. Most importantly though, he was happy that he finally had a proper conversation with another human... I mean humanoid being after so long. The only things he could usually talk with were sentient trees. He wanted to get an animal companion at first but he felt weird speaking to his food. It was like having a conversation with your egg before breaking it for a sunny side up so he had given up that idea. Could he have made friends with animals that he wasn't going to eat? No. Because there wasn't a single animal that Katsuo didn't eat in this jungle. He had eaten everything from snakes to squirrels. He had even eaten wolf meat on one rare occasion before. This was important because there weren't a lot of animals that he could hunt in this forest. That was why his diet mostl

"Okay"After some thinking, Katsuo decided to accept her proposal. He had to because this was the arrangement of the goddess. He didn't know what her plans were but at least he knew that she didn't hold any ill will against him, but most importantly he wanted to have a family again. So what if his family in this world were not humans? He didn't mind."Then from now on your name is Kazama Um'rael"Aranel said as if it was a matter of course."No no no, you have a misunderstanding. In my world, we say the last name first so it should be Katsuo Um'rael""Is that so? Anyway, now that this matter is settled, let's get along well from now on son""Ugh, can't you just call me by my name?""No, you have to get used to it S-O-N"Seeing him bothered by her address Aranel teased him even further by emphasizing it."When do we start training in mana?""Look at this kid, trying to run before he could even walk. "...congratulations. You passed"Katsuo wanted to jump and scream in joy but he held himself back. Finally! After 7 months of gruelling, he had finally passed all the exams sensei had prepared for him. This meant that he should be able to start his mana training soon.During these 7 months, Aranel Sensei had taught him the common knowledge of this world, starting from the major countries to what happened in the past. Katsuo didn't think he had even studied this much for his high school exam."So sensei, we can finally start mana training, right?""Why are you asking the obvious? Of course not! Think of yourself as a baby, you only learnt how to speak. You can only be considered a toddler now. So what do you teach to a baby after how to speak?""How to walk?"Katsuo was finally used to Aranel Sensei's weird pace."Correct, then what do you think walking would be for you?""I guess it would be moving my body?"Katsuo took a second to ponder before answering the question."You are right,

By the time Katsuo had returned it was already evening. Sven and Gail still had not arrived so he decided to wait. He was not a detective, the play he put on in front of the Fatty was already the limit of his abilities. So his only job now was just to wait and learn where the girl was being held and then beat up some kidnappers. Speaking of which Fatty truly surprised Katsuo. He had already thrown out the idea that he was the kidnapper because of his demeanour and actions. In fact, he didn't even think he was a bad guy at all. Why though? He was not an easily trusting person... at least he thought so. Did that mean Fatty messed up with his brain in some way? That was impossible. If there was even a hint of magic involved he would have sensed it. Maybe there was something in the whiskey? No way, he had cast [Detoxcification] on it so that was not possible either. Maybe he used some psychological tricks on him, after all, he was a politician. That last one was a little probable but at

When asked what he meant by that Sven said just leave it to him and brushed him off. He had never questioned before maybe Sven also had some connections with gangs here but that was impossible as he was from Horwaard. However, when Katsuo thought about where to ask about the mayor he noticed a crucial problem in his plans. He didn't know anyone in Dawn. His sister and Kalrune had already returned to their countries. He wasn't some gruff noir detective who could understand how everything went down by piecing together some rumour either. So Katsuo thought about his own advantages. For one, he was a transmigrator with a lot of popular culture knowledge when it came to isekai genre. So he as

After his party members returned Katsuo started to talk with the boy to learn about his situation."So you said your sister was kidnapped?" He asked the boy cautiously. From his get up he looked like a beggar but his face was well defined despite the bruises so there was a high chance that his sister was a beauty as well. That would explain why his sister was kidnapped but Katsuo had no intention of getting ahead of himself. It was better to hear the situation first-hand from the concerned party."Yes, today she was kidnapped by a bunch of ruffians. I don't even know who they are and why they targeted us. Please help! I am begging you. If the money is not enough I can find more."The boy started to speak in haste. He was really panicked but what he said was of no help at all."I wanted to ask about that. We just had something important going on so we couldn't come to pick you up. Right, Sven?" Katsuo lied as naturally as he breathed. Aria peeked under Katsuo's shirt and wrinkled her nose. "Ugh, stinky. Playmate who is this? She smells awful" Aria said as she covered her nose with her tiny little paws. Hearing that Gail got self-conscious and smelled her armpits but she couldn't smell anything. She as a budding young lady was very disturbed by such accusations. "But just like that fatty said isn't the Greywulf estate your ancestral home?" This was the part that eluded Katsuo. He was from a lineage of martial artists and their family held onto their traditions for centuries. So selling their ancestral home was something he couldn't imagine. That was why he wanted to ask Kalrune how he did it. "Home is where you make it. Also, I wasn't joking when I said Greywulf estate is its people and not the land. My father would also agree with me. After all, he was the one who taught me this. Being a noble means 'being responsible for your subjects'." As Kalrune spoke about his father his face brightened up. Katsuo could see that Kalrune treasured him greatly so this made him curious about the strongest man on the continent Brevok Greywulf. Just what kind of person was he? A cold Duke of the

After all, if it were not for the 'current' Greywulf house the land would already have been ravaged by the monsters long ago. So it is only right that you guys pay us."The glasses guy from Denstria frowned while pondering. This was out of his considerations for how the meeting would go. Kalrune was pacing around in his room thinking about how to stop this impending war. This time Denstria was coming at them for real without any intention of stopping with measly threats. In other words, this plan was something in the making for a long time.At first, Kalrune had thought this was going to be another small skirmish to cull the forces of Greywulf Duchy as after Archmage Karrion's death his father became the undisputed strongest man in the world so of course this reputation had its pros but that was about it.Now Denstria was aiming for swelling Greywulf whole... but why?Even as a person who was born and raised in Greywulf estate Kalrune couldn't see any point to this.Sure it was acting as a shield against Denstria but even if they took down the Greywulf estate they would ju

Katsuo nervously walked behind the elven strider. He tried to read his status window but as usual, the damn thing didn't work when he needed it to work. As they walked forward Katsuo remembered what he had learnt about striders. They were a subclass of warrior profession but they had extremely harsh requirements so usually only elves could become one, which made sense considering elves were the ones who created the profession. The speciality of striders was their endless regeneration. He wasn't sure about its authenticity but he had heard once heard from Aranel that even if you decapitate them master rank striders could grab their heads and reattach them and keep fighting like nothing happened.Of course, their fighting style also was one that favoured mutual destruction. They didn't care if their arms were chopped as long as they could leave one wound in their enemy. In this way, they sounded like berserkers but unlike those glass cannons, these guys were anti-aircraft cannons.
