Later in the day, Diana got to William's apartment and pushed the door wide open before she stomped in.

"William! William!! Where are you?" she yelled at the top of her voice.

Diana was agitated because what she was hearing in response was just her voice. Her mind was filled with worries, and then she muttered, "Does he want to pretend not to hear me?"

Then she yelled again, "William, I need to talk with you. Come over right now; I know you can hear me."

Why didn't Diana check around the house to find him or go straight to his room instead of straining her voice in the sitting room?

But hadn't Diana sworn never to visit William's house forever in her life? What was she doing here now?
