CHAPTER 91: The Negotiation

Lawton continued to stare at the screen with Smithson when his phone suddenly rang.

Lawton picked up his phone as he saw it was his boss who was calling him.

"Good afternoon," Lawton said as he answered.

"Where are you?" Lawton's boss yelled.

"You are supposed to be at work, we need you here," he added.

He then ordered Lawton to come to work immediately or he would have to face his wrath the next day.

Lawton started to apologize to his boss over the phone as he could tell from his voice that he was really upset.

"I had an urgent family issue to attend to," Lawton said, trying to give an excuse.

"I'm sorry," Lawton added.

Lawton's boss was adamant as he insisted Lawton had to come to work that minute.

"You have thirty minutes to get to work," Lawton's boss said.

"You will be fired if I don't see you in the next thirty minutes," He added before he hung up the phone.

Smithson was looking at Lawton as he talked on the phone and wondered who Lawton was apologizing that much too.
