Chapter Seven

Elas was a little bit scared about Robert's look as they continued with their conservation.

"Yeah! Where are you from?" Elias asks and Robert's eyes become dark all of a sudden. He doesn't know if he should tell Elias the truth about himself. He remains quiet for a while not knowing what to say.

"It's okay if you don't want to say anything. Just stay here and recover for a while then you can leave after you recover" Elias said when he noticed the hesitation on Robert's face. He is not the type that probes into people's private lives. He is just doing the best he can by helping him to heal his wound. After all, his father told him to always be good to people even if he doesn't know them and that is the principle he is living by.

They sat outside for a while without saying much, then Elias helped Robert into his hut where he spent the night peacefully.

Very early the next day, Elias woke up and took his Spear where he kept it. Robert is still fast asleep so he just left quietly to the borders without saying any words or making any sound.

" Where have you been?" One of the warriors at the borders asked immediately saw Elias approaching them with his Spear.

"I had a running stomach so I couldn't return to the borders" Elias replied and stood beside the warrior with blonde hair by name Darus.

" That is what you get from eating too much of wild fruits" Darus replies with a chuckle and Elias just shrugs his shoulders. He had to admit everything Darus said about him. He doesn't want them to know he took a stranger from the borders to his house. He knows I stop like someone who had been struck with talking charms.

"The others thought you were dead so they went to look for your corpse so that they could deliver it to the head ruler," Darus said with all seriousness after a brief silence.

"What! That is not possible, you know! How can they wish me dead, I mean how can they say I'm dead? I only have a running stomach. I'm not dead" Elias talks non stop like someone who has been struck with talking charms. He really can't believe they actually believe he is dead just because he didn't show up yesterday.

"They waited for your return but you didn't show up so they became restless and thought maybe something might have happened to you. So they set out this morning to look for your corpse" Darus said calmly after Elias stopped talking.

"But I'm alive , I only had a running stomach and nothing else" Elias spread his hand wide as he talked. The word dead and corpse are not friendly to him at all and he is not even planning to die anytime soon. He hasn't found the love of his life and hasn't enjoyed the beauty of this world so why would they be thinking he is dead.

" Then you should stop eating too much of wild fruits to avoid stories that touch next time," Darus said as he picked a guava fruit from his pocket and threw it inside his mouth. Elias' mouth became watery when he saw how fresh the guava is and how Darus chew on it in his mouth.

Well Elias is a wild fruit lover. He don't mind feeding on them all day as he was well known for that among the warriors. He would have fed the wild fruits to Robert last night but the two squirrels he caught when looking for herbs saved Robert from eating wild fruits to bed.

"Where did you get that mouth watery guava from?" Elias asks as he feels his intestines intertwine in his belly.

"From the forest" Darus replies as he swallows the chewed guava and Elias gulp along with him as if he is the one eating the guava.

" Then I will go get some for myself" Elias' eyes light up but suddenly become dark when Darus asks him to watch the borders that it's his turn to watch since he didn't return yesterday.

"What are you waiting for? Do like a warrior and start watching over the borders. I will go rest under that tree" Darus said and walk towards a huge tree and relax there.

Half an hour later, the other warriors return from the hunt of Elias' corpse with thief Spears in their hands.

"Here he is" one of the warriors pointing towards Elias is standing and they all walk to where he is.

"We thought you were dead" one of them said and Elias just shrugged his shoulders.

"I'm alive I'm not dead" Elias replied and the warriors didn't say any other word and walk back to their duty post.

"Don't sneak away like that next time" one of the warriors whispered close to Elias' ear.

"Who told you I sneaked away?" Elias asks and the warrior just ignores him and walks away.

Robert woke up to the ray of sun splashing in through the window of the hurt. He was aware Elias left very early so he didn't bother looking for him. You may think he is fast asleep but he wouldn't lose his guard on his first night in a strange place.

He lifts his leg and a sigh escapes his lips. He is healing but the pain is still there but not that much like it was yesterday. He saw baskets of wild fruits and picked three apples from it and started eating. At least here it is more lively and reliable than Jingle nation. He looked outside the hut window and saw children running around and women carrying baskets of grains and other stuff. It's been a long time since he see something like this. Jingle nation is a deserted place, he is the only living soul in it so he wouldn't see a view like this but now he is no longer there, the nation will be silent as a graveyard but will be lovely if only he succeeds in setting the people of jingle nation free from the hands of Harold.

He watched them for a while and sat down on the mat he slept on.
