Chapter 0005

Aiden stared at the system screen in astonishment for a few seconds. He was bothered by the quest the system just assigned to him. He was also worried that he had to complete within the time limit in order to avoid the penalty.

Therefore, even though he desperately wanted to go home to get some rest, he was now forced to change his destination.

Inside the cab, Aiden couldn't help but wonder if the system was pulling a prank on him. He didn't want to believe that his girlfriend wasn't loyal to him.

Aiden had been dating Jessica for the past four years. They met during their freshman year in college and have been a couple since then.

Leah was a red-haired beauty which made her look elegant. She was also generous, innocent and possessed a timid personality.

Infact, Aiden felt lucky to be her boyfriend and grateful that despite his shortcomings as a boyfriend, Jessica still stuck by him all these years.

Initially, Jessica was the first person Aiden wanted to share the news about his newly acquired fortune with because he thought she deserved to know. However, he wasn't going to mention anything about the system but tell Jessica he had won a lottery instead.

However, the quest changed the whole situation but Aiden was determined to abandon the quest and lose the system if he discovered that this was just a prank the system was playing.

When Aiden arrived at Jessica's apartment, he noticed a luxurious and expensive car parked outside the building. It was evident that a rich individual was in the neighborhood, which was a rare occurrence.

Aiden walked past the car as he approached Jessica's apartment entrance. As expected, the door was locked because nobody was home. It was still working hours and Jessica was supposed to still be at the office.

The door unlocked after Aiden entered the security passcode. He confidently entered the apartment and headed straight to the kitchen to grab a glass of water to drink to quench his thirst.

"Hnnng…"

A sudden moan coming from the direction of the bedroom instantly caught Aiden's attention. He placed the glass cup on the kitchen table and slowly walked in that direction.

The moaning sounds grew louder as Aiden cautiously walked closer to the bedroom. Aiden suddenly felt agitated because he recognized the voice he was hearing and it was none other than Jessica's voice.

He denied the thoughts developing in his head, but when he peeked through the slightly open door of the bedroom to see what was happening, He was completely devastated by the scene before him.

Jessica was lying on the bed with her legs wide open and beneath another man as their naked bodies were entangled together. Aiden was irritated by Jessica's ecstatic expression as the man repeatedly drove his member into her.

Aiden was enraged and unable to withstand the carnal sight he was watching anymore. He abruptly pushed the door open, startling Jessica and the man.

They were both shocked to see Aiden standing at the door. In a hurry, Jessica pushed the man aside and both quickly covered themselves with bedsheets.

"Aiden, what are you doing here?" Jessica asked nervously.

Aiden clenched his fist tightly and tightened his jaw while glaring at Jessica furiously. "Why?" He muttered.

Jessica said while stuttering, "It's not what it looks like. I...I can...just calm down a little and let me explain.""

"I'm not a fool, Jessica. I understand what I just saw." Aiden snapped in anger

"What is going on here, Jessica?....And tell me who this bastard is?" The man asked in a displeased tone.

In a short time, he observed Aiden's shabby clothes and look. The man realized that his standard was much higher than Aiden's, which gave him the confidence to talk down to Aiden.

Aiden unconsciously shifted his gaze to the man and stared angrily at him. At this point, he was trying to hold himself back to from charging towards him.

"He is nobody, just calm down." Jessica replied

Aiden, baffled by Jessica's response, repeated, "Nobody...".

"Then could explain what he is doing here and rudely interrupting our privacy." The man said with satisfying smile on his face.

"I wasn't expecting you, Aiden and you should have called me before coming here."

Jessica complained as she was also perplexed with this situation. She was always careful to avoid such situations but she was completely caught off guard because it didn't occur to her that Aiden would visit her today.

Jessica was aware that he was at the hospital taking care of his father. Although she knew Aiden would resume work the following day, she expected him to go home first or call her before coming to her own apartment.

If things had gone her way, Aiden would have never caught her having sex with another man and she wouldn't be in this mess.

Aiden scoffed. " Are you serious?!..Is that really what you should be saying to me right now after I caught you cheating on me?" He shouted in frustration

"Darling, I don't understand why you have any connection with lowlifes like this loser. He is obviously below your standards." The man said mockingly.

"This bastard…"

Aiden threw caution to the wind and rushed towards the man. As he dragged him down from the bed, he punched his face several times before Jessica separated them.

"Are you crazy, Aiden?....What the hell do you think you're doing?" Jessica screamed.

"I should be asking you the same question, Jess. You cheated on me with that bastard and you are still taking his side."

"Do you even know who you just laid your filthy hands on?"

"I don't care…" Aiden shouted.

"You should care because he is Mr. Liam Wilson and he is the general manager of Wilson Enterprise," Jessica revealed.

"Is that why you decided to cheat on me?" Aiden's tone became furious.

"So what if I cheated on you, huh? Did you think I was planning to spend the rest of my life with a big screw up?" Jessica retorted angrily.

Aiden was taken aback for a moment. He didn't expect Jessica to make such disdainful remarks at him. He thought they were in love and planned to get married in the future.

"I don't believe you and it's that bastard that is confusing you." Aiden was in disbelief as he argued.

"No, you are the only person confused here because I never loved you, Aiden." Jessica revealed and she was now being forced to confess her true intentions towards Aiden.

"What…What are you talking about?" Aiden asked.

"Aiden, you and I both know that we aren't a suitable match and our relationship was going to come to an end someday. Therefore, stop being so melodramatic about this whole situation." Jessica responded with a deep sigh.

"I never intended to break up with you Jessica, infact I wish to get married to you." Aiden said.

Jessica bursted into a fit of laughter when she heard Aiden's statement. "I am disappointed, Aiden. Did you honestly think I wanted to date someone as lowly as you in the first place? I only approached you in college because I needed your knowledge to assist me with my projects and other assignments in order to get high grades. I only dated you because it's the best way to completely have you wrapped around my fingers but I never reciprocated any feelings back to."

Aiden's confusion increased the more Jessica spoke, but he still didn't understand her point. "Then tell me why you didn't break up with me after we graduated?" He asked hoping there was slim chance Jessica still had feelings for him.

"Tsk…… You're not as smart as I thought you were, Aiden. I should have definitely broken up with you. However, it occurred to me that since we obviously worked in the same company I could utilize you to quickly elevate my status but it seems like you are no longer useful to me anymore."

"You…it's not possible, how could you do this to me?" Aiden spat as he slowly stepped back unconsciously after realizing that he had been completely played by Jessica.

"Although you were bound to find out about this sooner I really didn't want it to be like this. Besides, you were never a fit for a boyfriend material. Why did you think I never allowed you to have sex with me?"

"I know that I might not have been a capable boyfriend to you but I promise that it will change and I will treat you better in the future." Aiden pleaded.

Jessica picked up a small case on the table next to her and opened it to reveal a set of sparkling earrings. " This earring costs 20 thousand dollars which is more than your annual income, so you should stop being delusional because you can't even afford my least expensive outfit." She said.

"It doesn't matter because I love you." Aiden replied.

"You're a nice guy but I need someone to elevate my status and afford everything I need. Unfortunately, you fit into neither category but Liam is the perfect fit."

"I can't believe I thought you were innocent." Aiden said in disappointment.

"It was all a facade and I advise you to apologize to Mr. Wilson." Jessica suggested.

"Alright, if this is really what you want then I guess we should break up." Aiden declared as he no longer felt any lingering attachment to Jessica.

"Exactly, that's what I've been waiting for." Jessica happily agreed.

"I won't ever forget this and you'll regret this soon." Aiden said before he turned around and walked out of the room.

"Hey you bastards, what about my apology?" Liam yelled but Aiden ignored him.

"I'm going to make you regret this." Liam shouted.

Aiden received a system notification immediately after leaving Jessica's apartment. "I guess this system always has a reasonable explanation behind every quest." He muttered to himself vowing to never doubt the system ever again in his future endeavors.
