From what I could see, Lisar and Malaria must have adapted the way they fought to the laws they mastered, making their combat flexibility disappear.

They were trying too hard to improve their laws, which was counterproductive to both their combat abilities and their law mastery.

I guessed Fufflesnake didn't list out these problems because he wanted them to learn on their own.

Exponential growth wouldn't happen if they had their hand held during the whole process of learning.

While learning by themselves was a good thing for their future growth, I didn't particularly care too much about that as they would be useful as underlings, not equals, and in the future, they could fix whatever problems that would pop up later by simply fighting it out on the real missions outside of the academy.
