I could feel my blood boil from the power that was appearing inside my body, this was something that I had never felt before, regardless of all of the hard training that I had done under Mikutsuhi.
It was very strange. Could that amount of blood I ingested from the youngster in front of me be the reason this happened?
There was no other trigger, so this was the most logical conclusion.
I could feel my vision swim as my head started hurting. The body in front of me was still warm, so I needed to get rid of it as quickly as possible. There was no time to faint now!
I could feel images appear in my head as some sort of seal inside of my body was broken, and my guesses were proven right.
My power had slowly increased, and my injury sealed itself due to the blood I unconsciously drank.
This was something that everyone could do, the innate ability of devouring!
Everyone would awaken these memories the first time they drank/ate someone with special abilities.
It was more of a curse, to say the least, and the reaction from my brain was even more intense since I drank the blood of someone from my own race!
Cannibalism was something that never crossed my mind, but I wasn't disgusted by it. I killed and pillaged, and the number of bodies that bloodied my hands was in the triple digits. Would it change anything if I added cannibalism to my sins?
From what I understood, cannibalism/devouring was one of the ways to advance in strength, I wasn't sure about my talent, but eating was simple and quick, there was no reason to suffer for long times like I had when I trained under Mikutsuhi, it was very convenient.
Strength was something that I needed if I wanted to survive in this world, and I was already wanted by the kingdom where I lived. Increasing my strength as soon as possible was the best way to close the chapter of my old life and open up the new one!
I just wanted to see what happened to my mother, and then I could leave this wretched country behind and live another life.
The body below me was getting cold quickly, and now I had a good way to get rid of it.
My strength increased slightly after I ingested the youngster's blood and I was looking forward to seeing the next increase after I ate his body!
I slowly ripped off a piece of meat from his body, but I turned my nose away, eating human meat consciously was still somewhat hard to do, but I endured and put the piece of meat in my mouth, chewing and swallowing.
The meat was tender and bloody, of course, as it was uncooked, but there was no time for that.
The body in front of me lost its legs, arms, torso, and lastly head, eating the whole body took me a while, but it almost felt like I had an endless hole in my stomach that wanted to be filled, I was never satiated as I ate the youngster body, the only things left were his armor and sword, somehow my teeth started to sharpen during my eating frenzy, and I even ate the bones.
They elongated a little bit, and when I poked them on my tongue, I could feel their sharpness as I drew a little bit of blood from my tongue.
The pain from before hit me like ten thousand cattle on my chest, it looked like devouring a person didn't come without side effects, but I withstood the pain as I trashed on the forest floor, making sure to avoid the pool of blood, I didn't need the sharp smell of blood on my body, I already smelled bad enough, adding the smell of blood ontop would make me too conspicuous for experts.
Unfortunately, no more memories awakened from me eating the youngster's whole body, but I could feel some new things in my body.
It almost feel as if two hearts were now beating in my body instead of one, but the new heart was beating very slowly and weakly. It was almost as if a new person was being born in my body.
A very strange sensation, but I could feel my strength increasing every second after the pain had receded.
I was almost ten to twenty times stronger than what I was initially, and I think that if I from this moment fought the youngster once again, I would be able to easily decimate him!
I clenched my fist as I looked down at the armor and sword before deciding to bury them away from the pool of blood just to give any possible pursuers two leads and confuse them. But before I did so, I retrieved my sword and put it on my waist, I was no swordsman, but it was better to have a weapon, both for intimidation and increased attack range/power.
Living as a bandit taught me quite a lot of ways to escape and confuse pursuers as I learned well from all of my ex-comrades.
After making sure I buried the weapons a good distance away from the pool of blood, I went to find a nearby river where I could fully cleanse my body and get rid of all of the smells that gathered upon it, making the task of tracking me harder to do.
After I found the river, I took off my shabby clothes
I jumped into the river, letting my sword and clothes rest on the land a little farther away from the river so they wouldn't be swept in.
As I took a bath in the river, I looked down at my reflection, I could see some physical changes appearing, my former blue pupils were slowly turning dark, and some tufts of hair were already growing out of my bald head, which was very quickly considering I only shaved my head a few days ago.
My teeth sharpened, I was slowly growing another hand, and now all of these physical changes slowly made me different from the person in the wanted poster, this was quite a good thing.

Unknowingly to Minato, a strong man with long braided blonde hair who wore heavy armor with a cross and shield symbol on the chest piece was relaxing three hundred meters away from the river. Not far away from him leaned a mighty war hammer, resting on a sturdy tree and leaving a dent both in the ground below, and the sturdy tree.
He was seemingly napping, but his voice was rather loud as he said in his sleep:
"Where did that useless kid go? I swear if he dies pursuing that bandit group, I need to find another piece of trash to take as my apprentice. What a hassle!"
After making sure I scrubbed every inch of the pungent smells that covered my body, It was time to clean my clothes. Not much blood had splashed on them when I ripped that youngster's jugular out, but it was better to be more precautions.I took all my clothes from the river bank. I unceremoniously started to cleanse them inside the water, leaving behind only my satchel with the goods that I took from the bandit camp, and my sword that didn't need any cleaning considering I didn't use it to deal the fatal blow. After making sure they were clean, I left them to dry on a nearby tree while I started thinking about my next move. Now that I was clean and quite far from the murder location, I thought I wouldn't have any trouble with any pursuers for the time being. As I rested my head near a tree, I could feel my head swimming as the changes in my body weren't fully finished. It looked like eating that youngster was the right decision. As I sat there, I could see that some bushes from the o
As I followed Aratas from behind, I could fully see his wide-armored back. This type of back was supposed to give out feelings of protection and reliability, but to me, it was a rather cold feeling that was stuck in my chest.I didn't fully understand, but maybe it was because Aratas only took me in to replace his dead squire, even though he was a paladin, and also a religious man due to his profession, he didn't seem to be caring at all.The bandits always talked about religion as if it was their salvation. They always said that if they were ever going to give up their bandit ways, they would priests or monks. But I knew they were only saying those words jokingly.Once you go down a dark path, you can't stray away from it.I already did some things that normal people would never think of doing, and I knew this was one of my best opportunities to get some type of backing. It was risky to join a church as a cannibal, but it was also a good defensive front as no one would think a cannib
Mirato was serious as she suddenly leaped towards me at a speed I couldn't react to. Before I realized she had disappeared from where she previously was. Aratas had already grabbed her by the wrist and pushed her away from me.Both of my hearts were beating extremely fast as I clutched my chest and realized blood was seeping out of the location where one of my hearts was.Aratas snorted and pointed towards my wound, healing it instantly using his holy fire.Aratas pinned Mirato to the wall as he glared at her and said:"You think that keeping up our noses and not nurturing our own set of cannibals would give us an advantage during this bloody war?!"He gave her a tight slap on the face, making her red eyes start trembling even more as crystal clear tears started to drop from her eyes down to her cheeks, wetting her face and clothes as they continued to slide down.Mirato knew there was nothing she could do against Aratas. The Paladin was the peak physical and magical profession of the
The further we went into the prison, the weaker the pressure from the inmates was.Of course, they were all still stronger than me, but since they were chained and jailed, they couldn't unleash their whole aura.Aratas stopped in front of a particular jail before he knocked on the bars, making the person sitting in the darkness come up.He was an emaciated old man with a deep scar running over his nose and left eye. He had an aura around him that felt like he had seen quite some things in his life, and his eyes were empty of all emotions. It looked like he was on the verge of death, but his emaciated body was full of vitality, I could sense that through my newly stabilized power which I awakened from eating Aratas's previous squire. It wasn't anything special, it was just the start of reaching 'superhuman' strength, speed, and senses.Aratas looked at the old man before saying:"It's your time, Old man Skartion. You finally get to pay for your betrayal of the church with your life."S
After I regained my vision, I could see that we were standing in front of another jail.Inside it sat two middle-aged men with impressive physiques and scars running all over their faces, making them unrecognizable.Even though their physiques were impressive, it was obvious they were both starving and dehydrated from the color of their skin and the way their bones protruded from some places on their exposed skin.Aratas opened the jail bars and made both of them walk slowly forward as they glanced at each other before they tried to attack Aratas in a combination of moves, but Aratas easily grabbed both of their heads and smashed them together, but not strong enough to knock them out. They were disoriented, but after they quickly regained their wits, their eyes moved towards me, and then they decided to switch targets after they understood they weren't Aratas's match. My eyes narrowed as I saw a vision before I took a sidestep, unsheathed my sword, and decapitated one of the men in on
Aratas helped me up and said:"You have overexerted yourself after this stunt. It's better to get you someplace to rest before we continue."I followed Aratas out of the catacombs as we got back into the Church, then we exited and left towards the back of the Church, where multiple small houses sat there quietly, quite a lot of young men and women could be seen either praying, training with their swords, or meditating. They were all squires in training for the other paladins of the Church, who were now out on combat missions.Aratas waved his hand towards one of the male squires and said:"Make sure this young man gets an appropriate accommodation, he had been training very hard, and he needs a good rest."The young man nodded, but it was obvious from his gaze that he had ill will towards me.If I guess correctly, Mirato must have told them about my peculiarity, which in turn made them hostile towards me.Being a cannibal meant that I was going to be ostracized even though Aratas appr
I could feel my body restoring itself slowly as I sat down on the floor of the dilapidated house. It could heal faster than before, but I still vividly remembered when I had almost become mush, making me shudder for a few seconds as I understood the mortality of the human body. This wasn't something that could be avoided, but I knew that as I devoured more and more, my body should evolve accordingly, just like it made my teeth sharper and changed the color of my eyes and hair. The surroundings were eerily quiet as I was resting, the previous hustle and bustle from all of the training squire seemingly disappeared into the void as they were most likely avoiding me. Their fear was evident from their actions, they most likely thought that I was going to attack them. I sighed and shook my head, I felt deep inside that my body wasn't ready for any more devouring sessions, so I had to wait, even if I wanted to eat them, I couldn't, and I wasn't sure what type of reaction the Chuch would
A day and a good night's rest was almost enough for me to get back to full power, my regenerative capabilities had increased immensely after that near-death experience, and even though my body was unable to absorb all of the energy that I got from eating the last two people, I still improved in all areas.I clenched my fists as I got up from the floor of the broken house that I was in before I stretched my body and got out to be greeted by the first ray of sunlight that slowly came down from the morning sky.It was a beautiful sunrise that I didn't get to enjoy when I lived as a bandit. It was always killing pillaging, and doing things that made me uncomfortable until I became numb to them. Of course, now they brought a rush to me that I had no idea how to explain besides the fact that I most likely got addicted to doing those things.I sighed and shook my head as Shira slowly made her way toward my house. She still seemed a little bit unsure about me since she was walking very slowly
