The party ended at midnight. Several servants cleaned the backyard, collecting dirty plates and glasses.

Davis entered the house, stretching a few times. “I have a lot of work tomorrow.”

Davis stopped when he saw Drake, Louise, and Ivan. “Are you guys going home? You can stay at my house. You can choose any room you like. You certainly won't be able to sleep well in a cramped room, right?”

Drake, Louise, and Ivan shared a glance. Davis was being sarcastic.

Drake snorted in annoyance. “We came to pick Dad up, Davis. But he still wants to stay at your house.”

“You don't have to worry about Grandpa while he's here. I'll provide for all his needs and necessities. He taught me how to treat someone well.”

“Stop picking on us, Davis. The past is the past. You can't stay stuck in the past,” Drake snapped.

Davis laughed. “You're right. Even though I can't be stuck in the past, the past is still a lesson, isn't it?”

Drake let out a long breath as Louise and Ivan nodded, looking the other way.
