The sound of knocking could be heard from Laura's room door. Someone was knocking from outside.

"Yes, come in!"

As the door opened, a slender woman in her forties entered the room. Two women of the same age followed behind her.

They were all wearing long, grayish-white dresses, the uniforms worn by the Davenmert family's servants.

"Did Miss call for us?" the woman in front asked.
