The following morning arrived with an ominous stillness.

Carlos Wilson stirred from the couch he had crashed on after his date with Abby the night before. The events of the evening were still fresh in his mind— the sweet laughter, the way her eyes had sparkled in the candlelight, and how, despite the pressure and tension surrounding his job and life, she'd made him forget all about it.
