Aldrin first pulled up his profile window and went through his full profile and smiled, his comprehensive strength had increased by quite a lot, his strength alone was more than enough to overwhelm most warriors and only those at the peak of the rank would beat him in terms of just pure strength but pure strength wasn’t enough to defeat him in a battle.
He noted his changed title and smiled to himself ‘Finally I’m no longer trash’ he thought as he clicked on it to check its effect.
[Spirit Summoner:
Basic Title; Increases the chances of contracting a spirit by 35%]A very simple effect but for a summoner like himself this was one a great deal, if had this title before, contracting the spirits wouldn’t have taken so many times, he made a mental calculation, his previous success rate was around one in every four times which amounted to 25% but with this additional 35% he was certain to be able to contract a spirit at least once in every two trials.
His summoning skill had increased by one grade but its description remained the same, power of stars remained unchanged and finally he now had a passive skill, one that allowed him to sense spirits and spiritual fluctuations, with this skill his success rate for contracting spirits would at least be around 80%.
The price for summoning and maintaining the spirits had also increased by threefold, so if he was to summon all four spirit at once his current spirituality would only allow him to maintain them for around 88seconds before he completely runs out of spirituality and that was something he would never allow to happen so the maximum he can keep them all summoned for would be around a minute.
“Well what’s the big deal, I’ll just increase my spirituality.” He said with a grin before bursting forward with an insane amount of speed, his body moved at a speed his mind wasn’t used to making it hard for him to control.

After coming to a stop several notifications flooded a corner of his vision, he took note of the reduction in spirituality after his evolution but wasn’t surprised by it, it just meant his soul had gotten stronger.
He began running about catching butterflies using this as a medium to train himself and get used to his strength and speed, sometimes he burst out with explosive speed, sometimes he increased his speed gradually, other times he changed direction suddenly, it was better to get accustomed to his strength now than to do it in battle where his life would be in danger.
With every passing second the number of spirit essence in the valley reduced drastically it was like a massive veil of darkness was dousing the shimmering lights that once adorned the valley and soon only five motes of light were left in the valley while his spirituality had increased by about 10,000. He smiled complacently,
“My spirituality had far exceeded that of a grandmaster now, even if it wasn’t at the same level of a supreme master then it wouldn’t be far off” He muttered to himself, little did he know that even if there was a supreme master with the same amount of spirituality as himself their number wouldn’t exceed a single digit in the entire human empire.
The remaining five ‘butterflies’ he didn’t absorb but trapped carefully in a jar meant to store special items, trapping them was harder than it seemed as he had to be careful not to come in contact with them lest he accidentally absorbs them then it also took quite some time to find the appropriate container to store them, while they look like they possessed physical form they were made from pure energy and thus there weren’t many things that could contain them.
The reason he didn’t absorb them was to increase his bargaining chips against the elders of the clan, initially he didn’t really care about the position of clan head as he felt he wasn’t worthy but after the failed assassination orchestrated by his brother or half-brother rather, he felt aggrieved and infuriated which stoked his desire to actually compete for the position, this desire was further consolidated after he realized he could actually get stronger with the help of his system.
The trial comprised of two parts, the first part was the conquest where they all raided outpost and specific targets within the orc empire and their rankings would be based on their performance while the second part would take place in the bloodline shrine where their rankings would be based on how far they could go within the shrine, initially he didn’t have much hope for passing the shrine which was why he chose to raid this fortress. The difficulty in clearing it was higher than all the others his cousin chosen to raid and according to his plan he would have a very minimal loss at the end of the day which would fetch him quite some evaluation, the second reason he chose it was because of the demiplane it contained, a demiplane was a very strategic resource for any clan and having one extra was like having one extra goose to lay golden eggs, with the demiplane he hopped to sway their decision in his favour even if he came last in the bloodline shrine, after all he didn’t just do a meritorious deed for the human empire he even got some benefits for the clan, that enough was more than enough to put him a head and shoulder above his competitors, but now he had something else to add to the mix.
“So what if you feel the demiplane isn’t enough, all of you old geezers would definitely be tempted by the spirit essence, I’d see how the others want to compete by then.” He said with a triumphant grin as he stowed the jar away.
“Now time to go take down that bone general.” Aldrin said as he glanced at the mission which was now displayed before him
[New Mission: Explore the forgotten battlefield and defeat the bone general
Rewards: Spatial Coordinates]
Getting the spatial coordinates of this demiplane would increase its value by several folds so he was determined to get it by all means, he considered retreating and getting the grandmaster to help him defeat the bone general but he had a feeling that it wouldn’t be that simple, so he decided to confront it on his own and only do that if he discovered that he couldn’t win.
He turned in a particular direction and began moving, as he was climbing out of the valley a thought suddenly hit him
‘Sylph was a wind spirit right, let’s see what it can do.’
“Summon Sylph wind spirit.” He said in a loud voice and a circular cyan circuit with glowing runes appeared mid-air before him and an ethereal being with a slender, wispy form, translucent pale blue skin and flowing hair. Her eyes were blue and seemed to sparkle while her delicate wings which were akin to that of a butterfly fluttered slowly, her body was covered in diaphanous robes that kept fluttering even without wind and upon her head was a tiara of flowers sat comfortably.
She faced Aldrin and curtsied while he took in her form, perhaps if she were slightly bigger and not just a foot tall then he might have considered her an unrivalled beauty but she was still stunning despite being small.
[Summoned Creature; Sylph Wind Spirit (Spirit; Level 1)
Abilities:
Wind Blades: Creates a barrage of wind blades to attack in 20*20yards area
Phasing: Becomes intangible and pass through all things
Cyclone Strike: Create localized whirlwinds, lifting and damaging foes.
Special Abilities:
Shared Senses: Shares senses with master
Wind Rider:
Increases master’s agility by 100%
Allows master to ride the wind and fly]
He quickly went through her details and he smiled, while it wasn’t in the same manner he imagined it still worked out either ways, she had an ability that allowed him to fly while increasing his agility by 100%, increasing his agility by 100% meant no matter how strong he got in the future his agility would instantly double the moment he summoned her, this was far beyond any normal increment in stat.
Having no experience with flight he scratched his head lightly,
“System how do I use the wind rider ability?” He couldn’t help but ask
[Just activate it.] The system replied
‘Wind rider, activate.’ Aldrin thought to himself and he suddenly felt himself levitating in the air, the moment his feet left the ground he instantly began to wobble as he struggled to grasp hold of something but there was nothing to hold unto.
He dangled and wobbled for several moments while trying to get used to hanging in the air.
“System is there a tutorial on how to use this thing?” he couldn’t help but yell but there was no reply from the system
“Sylph, help me.” He cried out to the small winged human and with a wave of her tiny palm he felt the wind buffet around him and his body stabilized only then did he let out a sigh.
“Let’s head to the highest peak over there.” He said while pointing in a direction, sylph followed the direction of his hand before flying in that direction leaving him behind, he was stunned for a moment and wanted to call out at her but decided against it. ‘I’ll just take this as training’ he thought to himself.
Chapter 1: Council Meeting…In the beginning there was only you,So you decided to go on to the end,Till there was nothing left of you.In the beginning I was alone,So I went on to the end, Till there was only I left,Who am I? Who are you, We are Zen,The beginning,And the end.…In a hall about fifty meters in length and breadth were two youngsters moving about rapidly, one of them had lightning flickering around his form with each tensing of his muscles lightning cackled and each fist he threw was accompanied by electricity but the other person looked quite ordinary and very unimposing and despite the difference in appearance none of the former’s attack was able to land as the ordinary looking young man seemed to effortlessly evade and parry each attack. After several exchanges both came to a halt with the empowered young man barely out of breath while the ordinary one was dripping with sweat and totally out of breath, he had his hand on his knees with his dark hair matted a
Chapter 2: AssassinationEverybody has a zen core within themselves, it supplies energy for the body to run and keep function, its importance is no less than that of the heart and its location was just beneath the navel which was the centre of the body.Like arteries and veins run from the heart to every part of the body, energy pathways sometimes known as zen pathways run from the core to every part of the body, the pathways passes through organs, muscles and tissues, through veins and arteries constantly supplying the zen that one either absorbs from the surroundings or that one digests from meals.Just like a man cannot survive without his heart one can’t survive without their zen core as its destruction would lead to inevitable death, there are weak cores and strong core but there has never been a recorded case of someone born without a core, Aldrin is the first case or perhaps the first recorded case.Aldrin took in a deep breath and closed the book he was reading, he looked out
Chapter 3: AwakeningAldrin coughed severally, normally his robes were enhanced with a circuit array allowing him to tank a considerable amount of impact without taking damage, but having fought for about five minutes the protection was already wearing out and with a sword piercing through the robes many of the circuits were damaged reducing the protection the robes offered by a large amount allowing the fire dragon deal more than seventy percent it’s total damage.“How?” Aldrin managed to growl as he wiped out the blood dripping from the corner of his lips while trying to stand up, although Fabien wasn’t the best fighter there was it wasn’t to the point of making such blunder, the panicking expressions that was on Fabien’s face throughout the fight was suddenly nowhere to be found instead was a ridiculing and disdainful sneer, an expression which he wouldn’t find surprising if only he saw it on anyone else that wasn’t his brother.“They say geniuses are often so stupid and I must say
Chapter 4: Quest of AcknowledgementAldrin’s eyes opened slowly and light flooded into them causing him to close them rapidly with a light wince.“The young master has awakened, relay this to the lord.” A female voice suddenly called out and a figure dashed out of the room closing the door behind as she left, Aldrin slowly sat up and surveyed the room he was in and quickly recognized it to be his room. Not far from the bed was a table that was tidy and yet messy at the same time as a plethora of reading and writing materials were displayed across, aside from that table there wasn’t anything noteworthy of in the room, everything else was exquisite and yet simple.“How is your health sir?” A small lady approached Aldrin and tried taking his hand to feel his pulse but suddenly Aldrin stretched his hand and gripped her throat tightly threatening to strangle her.The lady trashed wildly while sobbing and begging for mercy but no matter what she did Aldrin didn’t release his grip on her nec
Chapter 5: The SystemAldrin read through as he listened to the voice read into his head, basically it was just a summary of what he had read in the scroll his father gave him.“What are you exactly?” Aldrin asked feeling quite stupid as he didn’t know if there was someone controlling what he saw and heard or if they would even reply him.[I am the spirit system bound to you.] The voice replied him as the string of words before his eyes changed“Are you an ally?” he pressed further trying to glean as much information as he could and the most important of which he needed to know was to confirm if it was a symbiote or a parasite.[It is the job of the system to ensure its host grows stronger and more powerful so the system could be considered an ally to its host.] The mechanical voice replied in its monotone.Aldrin thought for a few moments, he didn’t know much yet but for some reason he felt that the so called system was akin to an artefact or a tool whose sole purpose was to empower
Chapter 6: Visit to the ancient gryphon clanThe carriage soon arrived in front of a pair of majestic gates of the Gryphon Clan. Two imposing stone pillars, adorned with intricate carvings of gryphons in various poses - soaring, battling, and guarding treasure - support a grand arch topped with a proud gryphon with its wings spread wide. The warm, golden stone, weathered by centuries, exudes the aura of great strength and deep heritage. Gryphon-shaped door knockers gaze out from either side, several glyphs adorn the pillars, and torch holders shaped like gryphon talons hold unlit torches. Flanking the gates, two imposing stone gryphon statues stand guard, complemented by armed, armored clan guards bearing the Gryphon Clan's insignia, standing before them Aldrin couldn’t help but feel as though the Gryphons would come alive the very moment there was a slight sign of danger which made the guards seem more like a decoration instead. As soon as the carriage reached the gates the formerly
Chapter 7: Competition beginsAldrin returned to his clan compound and began preparations, the entire clan was in a state of activeness as discussion about the upcoming contest was on everyone’s lips.In a few minutes they were all gathered in a large colosseum, where each of the contestants and their forces were displayed as a show of might and intimidation. There were five including Aldrin, they were Akibrus Draca, Damian Draca, Orion Draca who was a step brother to Akibrus and lastly Azura Draca who was the only female in the mix.Amongst all five Aldrin had the smallest amount of forces with only three hundred and one warriors with the extra one being part of the resources he got from his bargain with the ancient gryphon clan,Following him was Azura who had a warrior count of a little over seven hundred following her was Akibrus who had a warrior count of a thousand men, Orion had one thousand two hundred men and Damian possessed one thousand five hundred men. This display also s
Chapter 8: Preparing to RaidHe spread out his spirituality seeking a creature or spirit he could contract.[Searching for contracts]The system notification resounded in his ears as his spirituality depleted rapidly, he could only maintain this form for so long.Just as he was about to give up when his spirituality was reaching critical levels he heard a notification and for the first time he couldn’t help but feel that the system had a very lovable voice.[A Fire Spirit is seeking to make a contract.][Do you agree to contract Fire Spirit? Y/N]Without hesitation Aldrin clicked on yes before he could see whatever notification was coming next he felt his astral body being dragged downwards at the speed of light and in no time he opened his eyes back in his tent, beads of sweat coating his forehead as a pounding headache attacked him violently, in exhaustion he collapsed on his back.He looked as though he had just survived a deadly battle but the light in his eyes was totally in cont
