Chapter 9: New equipment

The next day.

Kaede was currently busy taking notes in front of her computer. She is currently researching better equipment for her character in the game.

The money, she reive was a reward. She plans to use it in buying some new equipment just in case she lost the first sword in the battle. The sword is her primary weapon and her lifeline. Without her sword, she can’t do anything. That’s one of her prime and most obvious weaknesses.

Sword user build is very popular and common. There are thousands of players using different types of swords. Each sword has its attributes and damage level. Because of its numbers, Kaede has it tough to pick one.

“Buying a weapon is an option, but looks like the weapon that required materials are a stronger type. Hunting for materials calls for another adventure… I think it’s going to be fun.”

It’s been three months since Fantasy world online was released. Together with that, there will be a large-scale update tomorrow. A few skills and items will be added. That also made the internet on fire, but that was not the highlight.

The highlight was the players that had defeated the dungeon boss on the north end of the map, will be able to move forward from there toward the new map that is added in the update.

Of course, even if it was challenged solo or by the party, there is no problem. In simple words, the players that cleared the first stage will be able to go to the next stage.

Kaede also was thinking of going there after she gained skills.

“In the new update, a new skill was added for sword users like me. It’s decided, today I will acquire the new skill of Power Attack and Power Defence!”

Kaede eagerly said that, but she found one problem. Her sword skill slots are already filled with two skills.

“With my current high damage. Power attack might not be needed but Power defense is a must because it’s going to increase my health points…”

Kaede then stood up from her seat and walked around her room in circles. She is in deep thought. She then started to have a great idea.

She immediately logs in back into the game to do her bright idea. With that, she went straight to Umi’s store where she was taken by a player named Darkblader65 before.

“Welcome… You surely had become famous huh~… When you came here, you only had beginner equipment though…”

“Thank you very much! Umm… There is something I wanted to talk about today…. Although it’s okay if it’s impossible…”

Saying that as a prelude, Kade started talking about it. And Umi who heard what Kaede was saying until she ended, started reciting it to check.

“You want equipment that with its specs not considered, you want white and detailed. To make that, how much will it take… Hmm… Let me think… If there are some materials that you will have that can be used, I think about a million gold for one set. Depending on the materials you bring, the specs will get through.”

Kaede’s moon piercer sword has its skills slots already used. She needed another sword for her new skills in the future.

While she’s back home while thinking. Instead of her crafting her sword. She better gives the work to an expert smith like Umi.

Now that she gather attention, she wanted to be fashionable. That’s why she wanted to have a complete set of equipment.

Her Black knight armor. Like the name said it’s all back. Her sword is also black. This time she wanted to use something opposite to her usual equipment. She going for white equipment.

“Mufufufu.” Kaede giggles inside her head while she’s imagining her look being clad in this white piece of equipment.

“I understand! I will come one and bring the money and the materials needed!”

With that, Kade jumped out of the store. To find out where to get the materials needed for the equipment that she wanted for herself. Kaede came back to the information bulletin board.

First of all, a pure white material that has a certain hardness is needed.

The first one is a white crystal, but Kaede knew that she couldn’t mine it with her DEX 0.

That’s why she decided on another one. The location is the wide underground lake south of the town. It is being told that this lake has some kind of secret, but suspicious things like that hadn’t been found.

Her target in there is a fish that swims with a group, that has snow-white hard scales. One of them is a blue-colored leader that is almost transparent in water.

“There was that kind of story I was reading when I was a little… I feel nostalgic!”

After buying new fishing tools, Kaede eagerly started walking toward the underground lake.

“Well then… Fishing… Let’s go!”

After that, she should only wait silently until the prey gets caught. And, after 20 minutes of waiting.

“I-It hooked!”

Kaede puts strength on and pulled the fishing rod. The splashing waters echoed through the silent underground lake.

And, finally caught a pure-white fish, and it flopped behind Kaede. After leaving it like that for a while, leaving about a 5 cm scale, it became light and disappeared.

The original scale was smaller, but it’s she thought about it as the game’s setting and put it in her inventory. She still needs to fish a lot, but Kaede has school tomorrow.

“To think, that it would take this much time… After fishing the last two. I’ll just have to go back for today…”

Fishing was set to be relevant to the DEX and AGI status, so Kaede’s efficiency is the lowest. If it was a non-combat player status, they can fish one every minute.

She couldn’t neglect real life just for the sake of a game.

She logged out from the game and put her hardware back on her table. It may be already late but Kaede whose living alone in her home. Have some things to do.

She got so hooked on the game she forgets to eat. She goes to the kitchen and cooks her dinner. After eating dinner she opened her computer and get her notebooks. She started doing some homework.

She stuffed her bag according to tomorrow's schedule.

She stretched her arms up and let her body fall to her soft bed.

“Well then… Good night.”

After laying in bed for a few minutes. “Zzz… Zzz… Zzz…” Kaede started to sound asleep.

With her smile, she surely had a good dream.
