Chapter 40. I Need To Go

"You are now level 3 Merchant," a sudden notification appeared out of thin air, startling Liam so much that he nearly choked on his coffee.

Shanann, sitting nearby, looked at Liam with concern. "Be careful," she said, helping Liam with his choking fit.

"Thank you," Liam said to Shanann, gratitude in his voice.

Shanann continued to gaze at Liam with concern before turning her attention back to the front of the bus.

They were on their way home, the bus steadily making its way through the city streets. Shanann, now out of the hospital and on the path to recovery, sat by the window, gazing outside. Her expression carried a hint of longing, as if her thoughts were drifting to something or someone dear to her heart.

It had been years since she had visited his house, and now, as they approached it, all the cherished memories came flooding back.
