After Bianca discovered the third night that Mason always went back with Jane instead of going to the palace or one of his estates, she placed a call on a friend of the king and negotiated with him to go meet the king over the account that his son always slept with an older woman who is a supposed Mistress.

Bennett was a witty man in his fifties, quite knowledgeable as well but he didn't get the real purpose of the task he was sending him to do at the palace. Since he often visited the king, it would be easier to be granted passage to talk with him.

Bianca had been hospitable to him while she was still queen, probably the reason because he's witty or she thought she might need his help one day.
