Chapter 43
Jane bent low, lowering her head. Her legs were shaking, she kept her head bent low, her voice eager to hear the response of the king. The King turned slowly towards where the sound was coming from. He gave both of them a long, deep stare. He held a glass of wine before now and was sipping from it, slowly he dropped it on the table, shifted his body to face both of them. He still had past grudges against his son in him.

Jane was seriously afraid as she raised her eyes and was observing the movement of his legs. "Raise your face up!" He scolded at her. Mason wanted to reprimand him, though he was his father, Jane knowing what he was capable of doing tapped him on the hand. She raised her face as commanded but tried her best not to meet with his furious glare.

"What are you here for?" He barked.

"Dad, will you calm down and let us deal like father and son?" He retorted, with his cool yet thoughtful voice. "I don't think you should bother on all these past quarrels, you're an old man,
