Chapter nine

Moments later, JEFF and his roommates sat to eat their breakfast. They were eating on the ground in circles.

"Can't remember when last we sat down like this to eat," Mike said, chewing his food.

Joe responded to his statement. "That was last night. Don't tell me the food is making you loose your memory," Joe teased Mike.

The others laughed at Mike. "Whatever dude. I'm just feeling excited that's all," Mike expressed, eating.

"Of course you will feel that way. You're Mike after all," JEFF said.

Mike lifted his left hand up and gave them the peace sign. They immediately laughed at him. "The one and only," Mike boasted.

Just as they were having fun eating and talking, Phill reminded them about their graduation party coming up soon.

"That's right. It's coming up next week Saturday. We still have like ten days to spend with each other," Joe said, pointing out.

"Yeah, ten more days to go. So this gathering is going to be our last as roommates huh?" Mike stated, glancing at his friends.

They all seemed unhappy about it. JEFF too felt sad. He knew how much he's going to miss his roommates after everything they've been through.

Joe scoffed out and said, "This won't be our last gathering. We still have ten more days to go. We can use those days to have fun before we go our way."

Mike, JEFF and Phill were enlightened by Joe's words. Phill added, "And we can still meet after departing to our separate ways."

"That's true. We're roomies and friends. So we'll still meet each other and go out to parties and do other fun activities," Mike added to Phill's statement.

JEFF chuckled and said, "We're inseparable guys. School has brought us so close together already."

The roommates felt better after giving themselves assurance on their relationship after graduation.

Almost done eating, Phill asked his roommates, "What will you guys do after graduation?"

Joe, who just drank out of his drink, answered, "My father wants me to join his business after graduation." He drank his drink again.

"I'm going to resume with my work as a full-time worker now. I had to go per-time due to school," Phill shared, crossing his legs.

"Oh, that's good. What about you Mike?" JEFF asked, facing Mike.

Mike shrugged and said, "I'll go in search for work. My father also wants me to come work with him at his office, but I feel like getting a different job than working under him."

JEFF heard his friends plans for the future after the graduation. His mind went to his own future.

"So what will you do Jeff ?" Joe asked him, eating out of his food.

"I also have plans of my own. I'll still continue with my search for work. When I finally find the right work I'll get myself a nice apartment and move my things along with my mom's," JEFF shared.

"You'll get it dude. We believe in you," Phill encouraged Jeff . The others also supported.

JEFF thanked them and continued to eat his meal. He thought about his plans for the future.

"Yes, I'll get myself a house and take my mother out of that rented apartment. She has been struggling to pay the bills all these while," He reasoned.

JEFF decided to get a new place for his mother. A house of hers. No more paying of rent and working hard to feed.

Done eating, the four friends cleaned up their mess and decided to go out for a stroll around the college.

They got out of their room and headed for their hostel, talking about some interesting things.

JEFF also shared with them about the hall in the college. "I overheard some students saying that the hall would be decorated soon for the graduation party," He said.

"That's true. I think the decorations have been brought in already. Let's go and see if they've started," Joe suggested.

The guys agreed and made their way to the college hall.

On their way going, JEFF noticed the eyes of some students falling on him. He saw two girls laughing while stealing a glance at him.

Again, he saw another girl gazing at him before walking pass them. He looked back to see the girl and found her looking at him.

He suspected that they were mocking him for what happened yesterday at the square. His suspicion was then confirmed.

Two guys walking pass them said, "Morning Sleeping beauty." They laughed and walked away.

JEFF didn't say anything, but his friends did. "Get a job assholes!" Mike insulted the guys.

The two guys kept walking away, laughing. "Damn those guys," Phill said angrily.

"Don't listen to them Jeff . They're nothing but jackass," Joe said, pacifying Jeff .

JEFF smiled and said, placing his hands in his pocket, "I'm not listening to them. I don't care about what they say."

Joe, Mike and Phill were glad to hear this. They kept on walking along with JEFF to the hall.

JEFF on the other hand, was touching his golden card in his pocket. He smiled while walking with his friends.

Just as they were approaching the hall, JEFF noticed Ashley and her friends coming their way.

They were laughing while she bragged about Trent's wealth. Showing them her ring. "He has promised to get me a car before we graduate," She bragged.

Her friends cheered for her, calling her Mrs Trent and all that. JEFF saw how she laughed happily.

His friends too saw her, but they pretended not to. JEFF and his friends walked right pass Ashley.

Ashley spotted when JEFF and his friends passed. She gave a devilish grin and said out to her friends.

"I love Trent so much. He has been the man of my dreams. He has a business and lots of money," She bragged intentionally.

She wanted to JEFF to hear her. JEFF did, but he didn't look back at her. He kept walking away.

Ashley had glanced back to see him. She laughed mockingly and continued to follow her friend.
