Chapter 9

“Nexumcore has always been the backbone of Maratha Robotics which makes Maratha Industries a top tier investment. But that has changed, people,” Akash revealed with a satisfied smile.

“What do you mean by that?” Mr. Arnold, one of Akash’s friends who also owned tons of business across the building asked.

“The truth is that Nexumcore, the superhuman AI which every Robotic company is affiliated with, is having a glitch and soon enough those robots that are linked with Nexumcore will start having issues, thereby leading to leaving other robots in a bind. That is why I am here to announce to the world that the Maratha Industries are not what they seem to be anymore!”

The revelation sparked murmuring amongst the guests as Akash smiled sheepishly.

“How dare you say nonsense about my company?!” Rohan barged into the hall as everyone turned around to look at him. Rohan’s eyes caught Arjun whom he nodded at as he advanced forward and stood in the middle of the hall where everyone could get a better glimpse of him.

“Isn’t that the chairman of Maratha Industries?”

“How does he have the guts to show himself like this?”

“Isn’t he ashamed or what?”

Loud whispering continued as Rohan pretended he didn’t hear any as he turned his gaze to Akash.

“There is nothing wrong with Nexumcore,” Rohan said with a stoic expression.

“I have proof, Rohan. Don’t be a killjoy and just sell your company to me. I have engineers who are capable of correcting the glitch on Nexumcore,” Akash said confidently as Arjun burst into laughter, everyone turned around to look at him.

“Who is the best person to correct Nexumcore Glitch than its true creator?” He asked as everyone stared at him suspiciously.

“Stop with your madness instantly! How can you claim to be the creator of Nexumcore?!” Akash berated furiously as another murmuring was sparked, now everyone’s attention was glued on Arjun.

Because why not? He was the creator of the legendary Nexumcore!

“And how dare you lie that you can fix Nexumcore glitch when you yourself claims it can only be fixed by its true owner?” Arjun asked as Akash scoffed.

“Is this Maratha Industries' plot to make everyone believe Nexumcore will be fixed? By bringing in a sham creator?” Akash asked but Arjun didn’t reply.

“Everyone! Can you see how shrewd Maratha Industries can be? How can you trust this kind of company with these people as its owner?” He asked, looking from one face to another. He had intentionally invited those whose Robotic company is affiliated with Nexumcore. He was going to use their panic to instill fear in Rohan to sell by all means!

“This is wrong, Mr. Rohan,” the chairman of AJ Robotics came forward. “If it’s true that Nexumcore is having issue and would soon start affecting Robots that are affiliated with it, you should have given us an explanation! Or find an issue!”

“I concur!” Another person from the crowd who is also an owner of a company affiliated with Nexumcore said.

“If this is true, then it looks like a breach of contract! A fraud in business! It seems to me that the owners of Maratha industries, whom the respectable guests in the room respect, are not as trustworthy as they seem to be!” The politician, the minister of finance said as others nodded in support while Akash watched the drama in relish. Everything was going according to plan.

“I will prove that I am truly the creator of Nexumcore but in….”

“Shut the hell up!” Meera blurted in interruption as she approached Arjun.

“This man is a complete fraud! Trying to make a name for himself where he is not needed!” She gritted her teeth in rage as Arjun chuckled softly. “Why the hell do you think I am a fraud, Meera? You of all people know my abilities since you’re my ex-wife.” Arjun intentionally sparked that memory in order to make Meera feel uncomfortable.

“Exactly! You are so shrewd that I had to divorce you, fool! Claiming to be Nexumcore’s creator?” She scoffed. “You dream too big.” She hissed and turned to the crowd. “This man here has been married to me for the past few years and I know better what he is capable of….” She announced as Arjun folded his arms, feeling relaxed more than ever.

He had somehow expected this, but deep down, he knew he was going to have the last laugh.

“In the past, Arjun worked as a robotic engineer in my company. But then….” She narrowed her eyes to look at him disdainfully. “I didn’t know he was just a mere loser who stole the ideas of the junior robotic engineers in the company.” She smirked and continued. “Because of the fact that he was married to me, he would threaten the team and take credit for the work created by the junior engineers.” She pointed at Arjun with so much hate in her eyes. “This man manipulated them until I found out one day.” She dropped her hands down and continued. “To think, I let him be because I loved him. Then I later found out he was incompetent and also cheating on me with my maid! Just one person has so many characters that are irritable! How can you all trust him?!” Her voice reverberated in the hall as everywhere went silent.

“I can’t believe this!” AJ’s group chairman snapped, breaking the seemingly unending silence. “I can’t believe Maratha Industries will repay us like this!”

“If Maratha Industries doesn’t give everyone an explanation, I will make sure the company closes down!” The minister of finance threatened as Akash’s smile broadened. Things were getting more interesting.

His eyes met Meera's as they both winked at each other. Meera's intervention was also their plan.

“We are waiting, Mr. Rohan. Give us an explanation. How do you intend to fix this issue?” Akash asked with raised cocky brow. “You should agree to see quickly. You have made everyone so tense. I mean if you keep insisting that loser can fix Nexumcore….” He briefly gestured at Arjun. “You are going to continue to look like a fool. Is that what you want?” Akash prompted with a mocking tone.

“I said I will fix Nexumcore, you scumbags!” Arjun’s voice broke through again, this time everyone stared at him in wonder, the scorn and disrespect replaced with wonder at the authority his voice carried.
