129: Scared

Rex exhaled in a sign of dissatisfaction. He wondered what could make Caroline fix an appointment with him and still fail to turn up, or was she not demanding a favor from him anymore?

Of course, Rex would not benefit much from her working for him; after all, he has enough workers in his company and his grandfather's company as well.

"Does it mean she was harmed on her way trying to come here?" he wondered, gazing up to the ceiling in confusion.

After a few seconds passed, another thought ran through his mind: "Or did she intentionally decide not to come despite knowing today was the day for her interview? Wasn't she the one that called me, disturbing my rest all in the name of a reminder, then she chose to ghost me at last?" He clenched his jaws, gently hitting his fingertips on the desk out of annoyance.

"Well, one who bedwets her mattress will surely sleep on the bare floor," he concluded, and he stood up to leave.
