CHAPTER 19

Taron wondered what his mother would want with him. For years, they had not spoken to each other, and now she had the audacity to call him? After all that she did to him?

Who was he to even assume that she was calling from a good place? What if she wanted to call just to berate him mercilessly as usual?

He picked up his phone, looking after the notification that informed him of the missed call. Taron wanted to click on that notification, to call her back, but he could not. As he pondered on whether to call her or not, his mind flashed back to their last conversation...

“What is this, huh?” Taron ducked that day as his mother threw the bag at him.

“That’s all I’ve been able to make this week, mom, you have to be a little patient with me, please.” Taron pleaded.

He was ashamed of himself and well aware of his short comings already. Having his mom constantly remind him that he was a failure was not doing any good to him, or to any of them at home for that matter.
