Rob had just finished with all he had to do and decided to leave. He hated office work anyway. After he picked up his bag, he pulled on the door, whistling a catchy tune. The door did not open, it was jammed somehow, and the keys were even with him. Rob wondered how that worked, but it did not sit well for him as his claustrophobia started closing in on him, and all he could do was fumble around his person for his phone. Perfect time for the emergency line to not be working, which it was not. That seemed strange to Rob, he knew that the line always worked because a bunch of people had called and asked someone at the help centre to get him some food from the restaurant right across the street. Rob tried calling their number one more time, just to be sure. The call did not go across, and Rob decided to take calming breaths, and then sit down to think about how he was going to be able to get out of his office. And, if someone noticed his absence, then they would surely go and look for h
"Fuck!" Rob exclaimed as he was able to kick the door down. Looking back at the fallen door as he went outside, he contemplated if it fell as a result of his brute strength, or maybe it had weakened already. Not that he mattered. He was rich now, thanks to Taron. He could easily buy a better door. All he had to do was get out of the building. Staying there for so long had creeped him out that he did not think he would be back inside any day soon. "Sir, I thought you had gone home since." Rob did not know the name of this worker, but he was dressed as a cleaner. Rob shrugged. "Had a few mishaps on the way, it's fine." "What?" The cleaner asked. Rob shook his head. Even he didn't understand what he had just said. "Never mind, forget that I said anything to you." Rob said and walked out of the office. The image of the bloodied knife appeared in his head, causing him to sink mentally. Rob hoped that that was the last of such threats he would ever see. He did not mind online thre
“Where is my mother? Where are her guards?” Taron burst out in anger. It seemed like Eloise McCarthy had wanted to make Taron having almost heart attacks a regular thing. “Sir,” Jonas said. “her guards went with her, she. Said that she would not be too long.” Taron nodded and looked around at the rest of the guards. “If she doesn’t come back in two hours, contact her guards to make sure that she is okay. Taron went back in to his study. He had a lot of things to do, and since he was already assured of his mother’s safety, he felt that he could go back to doing other things. After just a quick text, that is. ‘Why did you leave the house without telling me?’ He typed out and sent to his mother. She had a habit of not replying texts, so Taron did not check his phone after that. An incoming call came in, it was his transport company that was supposed to be in charge of him moving to his new house. “Yes?” Taron answered the call. “We’re sorry about the delay, sir, the truck had
Selena had thrown up twice today. And no, it was not because she was pregnant, it on her period or anything like that. It was because she had received the most sickening news she had heard all day. Selena had made her way to Taron’s office as fast as she could and wondered if Taron had heard. She had been crying all day. “Go up, go up, go up.” She muttered as she the elevator went up in the slowest way ever and wiped the tears from her eyes.- “So, you’d be moving far away now and I’d only have to see you online?” Rebecca asked Taron and he shrugged. “I don’t know, we’d have to see about all that.” Taron replied. “I have something to confess.” Rebecca said and hesitated. Taron noticed the unease on her face. “If you can’t say it now, it’s alright.” “It’s about Selena, she— she—” Taron stood up beside her, causing her to look up from where she stood. The manner in which Taron towered over Rebecca made her feel tingles in her body. The good kind. Taron patted her head. “Ge
Taron looked disheveled. After hearing of the death of his friend, things took a wild turn for him. It was just like when his father had died all over again, and Taron could not stand it. Eloise had tried her best to help Taron overcome his sorrows, but she could not do much. She did not even know Taron well enough to be there for him during his sad moments. “Taron dear, I’m sorry, I know he was your friend and it hurts you too much, but you’re hurting us with the way you’re acting, please, come back for our sake.” She would say each time she passed his study. Taron was always awake and alert and silent, but Rob’s death took Taron’s silence to a whole other level. His voice had not been heard by most of the people in his household for days, and Selena and his secretary, Rebecca kept on calling him and sending him texts to know if he was fine. And Taron was fine. No, really, he was. He was just trying to process things. How that idiot who had been full of life just had the life an
Taron let out a satisfied sigh as he looked himself over in the mirror. It had been a week since he sent out that mail, and it was finally time for them to have the meeting. “Sir, are you ready to go?” Jonas stood behind him, also in a very nice suit. “Almost.” Taron said, his eyes still on the mirror, but his mind wandering as he thought of all the things that he could talk about in the meeting. Taron already had two points down, but he wondered if there was a way he could make another point and have everything perfect for him to say. Alliance, codependency and business. Although alliance and codependency could easily become sisters in the whole thing going on in his head. “You look great, as usual, sir,” Jonas assured him. “the car is ready to go.” Taron nodded. “Alright then, let us leave.”- At the meeting, men in suits and ties were seated. They were not usually like this, but Taron had asked that they be dressed like they were going to a very important meeting. “Well, I
“Well, well, well, I’ve caught you here today,” Anthony chuckled as he got in. “you’ve got a very good looking secretary.” “Thank you, have a seat,” Taron adjusted himself in his chair. “when you said you were coming, I did not expect you to be here in less than hour.” “I wanted to see you for about two weeks, and then I found myself here and I said, ‘Hey! Why don’t I go see this guy?’,” Anthony grinned. “and here I am.” “And here you are,” Taron said wearily. He had so much on his plate to do, and talking to this man for hours was not even part of it. “so, what brings you here, Tony?” Taron could already sense the passive hostility Anthony radiated. “Tony? Well, that’s new.” Anthony leaned back and looked at the art on the wall. “I assumed that we were friends, and like all friends do, I decided to lovingly shorten your name.” Taron said easily. Taron did not regard Anthony as his friend, or anyone else in the King Pin for that matter. For all Taron cared, the guy was trying to get to
“Mr McCarthy, you have a guest, says that she is Selena Goldbridge.” The nurse in attendance said as she opened the door and popped her head in. “Let her in, thanks.” Taron said. Seconds later, Selena came in with a most worried expression on her face. “Taron, what happened to you?” Selena gasped as she rushed towards his bed. She saw Rebecca sitting in front and gave her a glare before quickly turning back to Taron and holding his head in her hands. “Are you okay? No, that’s a stupid question, I brought your favourite cake.” Selena gave a grin and went to take the basket that she dropped “Thanks Selena, you can take a seat next to Rebecca.” Taron said and Selena went to sit down. “What happened to you?” Selena asked. “I phoned, but Rebecca picked up and said that you were unavailable, and then I saw the news and I was so scared!” “News?” Taron’s eyes widened and he looked at Rebecca. “I did my best to not allow anyone to cover the event, but it’s possible that peop
