The Unexpected Heir

Chapter 2: Break up.

I got even more confused as I needed an explanation as to what was going on here.

"Laura I don't understand what's going on here, can we talk?'' I asked as I noticed that she frowned upon seeing me.

"Do you know him?" Philip asked Laura who shook her head and sighed audibly.

"He's my ex, please close the door." Laura said grumpily as she rolled her eyes and turned her back at me.

"Ex?"I asked, disbelievingly trying to process what she was saying but my mind was blank.

"Dude,I think you should leave."Philip said as tried to close the door but I held onto it , stopping him from closing the door.

"I am her boyfriend, not her ex . I need to talk to her! Philip, stay out of this!" I yelled at the man as we both pushed the door, trying to overpower the other.

   Philip, who was angrily glaring at me, was trying so hard to close the door but I was pushing the door as if my life depended on it.

"Open this door!"I yelled.

"Philip, what are you doing, shut the damn door before this mad man comes in here!" Laura hissed at Philip and I was taken aback at the way she was glaring at me.

"You better leave now that I am asking you to leave nicely!'' Philip yelled as I overpowered him and pushed the door open and he fell to the ground as I walked into the apartment and Laura finally turned to me.

"Laura, call the police!"Philip yelled.

"Bruce, I think you should leave, we are over, there's nothing between us, don't ruin your life because of me ,you will regret it."Laura warned with her arms crossed as she stared at me with disgust written all over her face.

 I couldn't believe that those words were coming out from her mouth. 

"What are you saying Laura? I just saw you last week. How can you tell me that I am your ex boyfriend today when I just spoke to you yesterday?" I asked in a pain filled voice as tears stung the corner of my eyes.

 Philip , Laura's boyfriend and my half brother, got up from the floor and rushed to take his phone to call the police.

 I couldn't even process what was going on here. Why did this happen? Why did I come here?

"Bruce, let's just end this relationship okay, just move on with your life and stop pestering me, it's becoming annoying!" Laura yelled with a deep frown as she waved her hand dismissively at me and I just didn't want to believe that this was the woman that I was dating.

  Laura's voice was always soft and calm,she never yelled at me or anybody.

   "I can't believe that all the time we spent together meant nothing to you,why would you deceive me like this? " I asked sadly.

"The police are on their way, I suggest you leave if you don't want to spend some time in custody."Philip said but I made my way towards Laura and she took cautious steps back as her boyfriend came to stand in front of her blocking me.

 "I can't believe a man would be so stuck on one woman."Philip jeered at me.

"I am her boyfriend Philip, how could you do something like this to me, I am your brother!" I yelled at Philip.

"You should remember you are my half brother ,besides you don't deserve such a beautiful woman like Laura , how could she date a poor scumbag like you!" Philip hissed at me as he charged towards me to hit me but I dodged and punched him on the face, causing him to fall down again.

"Philip!" Laura squealed as she ran over to him.

 I know I was acting like a fool in front of them even after Laura called me her ex when we had been dating for a year.

       My heart shattered into pieces as I was unable to comprehend what was going on,all I could do was stand there like a man who lost his way.

How could Laura, my girlfriend and Philip, my half brother, do this to me?

I haven't even introduced them to each other before, because I know Philip would try to ruin my relationship with Laura so how did he find out?

"Bruce, how dare you hit me?" Philip asked angrily as he recomposed himself. 

"Shut up your damn mouth Philip and stay out of this, Laura is my woman and you can't take her away from me!" I yelled at Philip whose face twisted in anger and embarrassment that he couldn't kick me out of the apartment.

"Why am I the only one in her house, not you? " He yelled at me, not backing down.

"Bruce don't you have any shame just stop already! Just leave and stop embarrassing yourself!" Laura yelled at me. I was stunned for a split second before I recollected myself.

   I can't believe she said that to me.

"Let me tell you this ,your brother takes care of me more than you. I can't date a poor man that checks his wallet first before taking me out on a date, I need someone that spoils me like the princess I am!" Laura yelled at me and my eyes widened.

"I don't know how stupid you are to think I would actually date you, I love you brother and he takes care of me." Laura jeered.

My mouth just hung open as I didn't want to hear her words because my head couldn't comprehend it.

"Laura what nonsense are you saying?" I was hurt by her words.

"Bruce, take a look at yourself,do you think you can take care of me?" Laura asked me with a glare.

"You can't even feed yourself let alone take care of me!" Laura yelled and bowed my head in defeat because I knew her words were true.

I stood rooted to the spot when my eyes became blurry with tears.

How could she say such hurtful things to me,was this what she thought about me all these while?

"Seriously you are the biggest fool I have ever seen." She hissed at me and I winced as she added more salt to my injury.

"You should leave before you are arrested,that's the least I can do for you." Laura said.

    I suddenly remembered that Philip said that the police were coming.

 It would be foolish of me to get arrested by the police for breaking and entering. I turned to leave but it was too late because when I turned I saw two police men standing in front of the door.

"That's him ,he forced his way into the apartment and attacked me!" Philip yelled while pointing an accusing finger at me.

I knew there was no way I was going to get out of them unscathed.

The police men asked Laura who was there if it was true and she said yes and I was apprehended by the policeman and taken to the police station. Philip said he wanted to press charges.

I don't know what I ever did to him to deserve this betrayal.

Mr Chase my Father came to bail me out of jail and when we got into his car he yelled at me all the way home.

We got home and Philip was sitting in the living room waiting for our return.

"Dad he can't stay in this house anymore,he came to my girlfriend's house and attacked me!" Philip got up from the couch and yelled while pointing accusing fingers at me.

"Laura is my girlfriend and you still chased after her!" I shouted back.

"Shut up Bruce, who are you to think you can drag a woman with my son!" Mrs Chase yelled at me.

"You are just an illegitimate child that doesn't know his place!" She shouted.

I wasn't her son but father's child so why would she even believe me.

"Bruce, go to your room, I will deal with you later!"Mr Chase ,my Father yelled at me.

"I am going to press charges because of this I won't let you off the hook easily!" Philip yelled at me as I headed to my room.
