Miranda hands Liam the water bottle and lingers at his side. “Tell me about your parents, I had no idea you were like such a big deal. I thought you were just--’’

''Just what?'' Liam asks.

But Miranda doesn't answer.

‘’Never knew my mother and I hardly remember my father,’’ Liam tells her in a clipped tone.

‘’Oh, do you have siblings?’’

“Why are you prying so deep into my life?’’ Liam pauses what he is doing to look at Miranda.

She gulps. ‘’I’m not, just curious about you.’’

Liam raises a brow.

“But if you don’t want to tell me it is totally fine, I shouldn’t be asking all these questions. You are the boss and all.’’

‘’What about your family?’’ Liam asks.

‘’My dad is a farmer, or at least he is trying to be and my mom is a nurse, but they have laid her off.’’

‘’Why did you give me back the money?”

‘’Well, I didn’t want to ruin my friendship with Mercedes. She is the only person I talk to on the entire campus.’’
