That day, the couple had just left the cozy cafe and went straight to the car that was parked in the parking area of the cafe. As Vere and Mira settled in the car still they could see from a distance in the mirror of the cafe of Mr. Perry's eyes looking at them as its gaze lingered on them, making them both uneasy.
"Do you think he's just being friendly or is there something more to it?" Mira whispered, her voice filled with concern.
As they are heading home while on the road Vere's eyes flicked to the rearview mirror, where he caught a glimpse of a dark car trailing them a little too closely. His heart quickened.
"Vere there's a car behind us”, Mira said. "Yeah, I noticed it too. It's strange. We must be careful", Vere added.
As they continued along the winding road leading to their mansion, the dark car maintained its relentless pursuit. Vere's knuckles turned white as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. They exchanged worried glances, anxiety gnawing at their nerves.
Finally, they reached the imposing wrought-iron gates of their mansion. With a sigh of relief, Vere pulled the car through the entrance, and the gates swung shut behind them with a resounding thud. The dark car was left stranded outside.
"We need to find out who's behind this," Vere said, his voice determined. He went to the barracks of the mansion where the security and bodyguards stayed, and he looked for Detective Lee. He was the trusted leader of their security team.
"Detective Lee," Vere said, "Mira and I are being followed. Get our security team on it immediately."
Detective Lee's voice crackled. "Understood, Sir. We'll pull up the CCTV footage from the front of the house."
As Vere and Mira anxiously waited in the comfort of their mansion, Detective Lee and his team sprang into action. The mansion's security system had state-of-the-art surveillance cameras that covered every inch of the property.
Within minutes, Detective Lee called back. "We've got eyes on the car that followed you. It was parked a short distance away. Let me review the footage."
Vere couldn't shake the feeling that something weird was afoot; with Mr. Perry's lingering gaze and the strange car that had followed them, they were left with more questions than answers. “Please keep a watch on the situation, and if anything, more happens, let us know right once” Vere instructed Detective Lee.
Vere sat back on his study's luxurious leather couch, a strong sense of exhaustion pulling at him. The day's disquieting incidents, including the strange car that had been following them and their conversation with Detective Lee, had left their mark.
Mira sat close by, her face reflecting his tiredness. Vere's phone rang, shattering the room's enveloping calm just as he was about to close his eyes and enter the realm of sleep.
It was an upcoming call from his trusted representative "James" on the caller ID. Vere answered the call with a groan, his voice sounding worn out. The question "James, what's the news?"
James, his devoted agent, paused briefly on the other end after noticing Vere's voice was worn out. He spoke hesitantly, "Mr. Vere, I want to inform you that Mr. Jones has a rumor of selling his company," Vere unintentionally tightened his grasp on the phone and suddenly remained silent as he reminisced about his past on that company and how this ex-boss Mr. Jones maltreated him.
He was overcome with resentment as he was reminded of his turbulent relationship with Mr. Jones. This was the same man who had fired him after he begged for a raise in pay so that he could pay his mother's medical expenses, who was ill. Mr. Jones, instead of showing sympathy, leaves him buttered until he ends in dire straits, and the man behind Vere's deceitful ex-girlfriend, a betrayal that had left him hurt and furious.
Due to the pressure of his past with his boss. Vere's silence lingered ominously in the air. His voice was firm when he finally spoke.
"Okay, James, Tell Mr. Jones that I'll take the offer to buy the company," Vere answered.
James seems surprised by Vere's choice as there was a pause on the other end of the line. It won't be a simple road, and it might revive old scars, sir, so are you sure about this? As James questioned him once again.
"Well, this is an opportunity for me to make amends for a previous mistake and make sure that no one else suffers as I did, I'm very sure of this, James please take care of this for me just send me the papers after you and Mr. Jones."
“Alright Mr. Vere I will send them a notice right away," James answered on the other line.
“Thank you, James,”, Vere answered.
Vere hung up the phone with James after finishing the conversation. Mira was looking at him, admiration and affection mixed in her eyes. She grinned as she remarked, "I've always known I made the right choice in offering you, my help." Vere, glanced at Mira as her words warmed his heart. “It's not just for you, my love; everything here is for us and our future together," he said as he drew her into a close embrace “I love you.”
Mira clung to him; her eyes glowing with emotion. She sweetly retorted, "I love you."
Vere lay beside Mira, his thoughts wandering back to the days when they had first met and the elaborate ruse of their marriage. "I used to think that charade marriage," he mused, his voice tinged with nostalgia.
" Now it's real and never imagined it." Mira turned to him, with a soft smile on her face.
" And yeah, it's funny how life surprises us, isn't it? Our pretend marriage turned into something beautiful." Vere reached for Mira's hand and held it gently.
"Yes, my love, it did. And now we're here, I can't imagine my life without you."
As they lay there, their fingers intertwined, they began to discuss their plans to visit their parents. Mira spoke up first, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "I miss my parents, Vere. We should plan a trip to see them soon."
Vere nodded in agreement. "I miss my mother too. Let's set a date for the trip. How about next month? It would be a perfect time to visit."
Following their conversation, the couple drifted into slumber that night, finding solace in the stillness around them. The day had been long, filled with the trials and tribulations that life had thrown their way.
Days turn into months. The situation is getting better and there were no imminent threats from Mr. Perry. So, Vere and Mira began to feel a sense of relief. With the tension somewhat eased, Vere and Mira plan the trip and their decision to visit their parents. On that day, the married couple was busy preparing for their departure from the mansion. And they decided to take four security personnel with them on their trip, including Detective Lee. Although the situation had calmed down, but still had to assure their safety. "Mira, are you ready?" Vere inquired; his wife engrossed in her primping. "Yes, I'm done. Let's go," Mira replied, a sense of determination in her voice. As Vere and Mira stepped out of the mansion, their waiting vehicle, a sleek black car, was parked right at the entrance. Their four bodyguards, including Detective Lee, were already on standby. The couple got into the car, ready for their journey to the airport. Vere's private plane was waiting, and they boa
That day, after Vere and James had their conversation at the office, he quickly headed home to the mansion where his wife, Mira, awaited his return. Upon arriving at the mansion, Vere made his way straight to the living room, where Mira and Vere's mother were engrossed in watching television. "Are you ready, Mira?" Vere asked. Mira looked up, a hint of surprise in her eyes, and responded, "Oh, Vere, you're back so soon?" Vere nodded and smiled, keeping his tone casual. He didn't want to let them know what was going on that James had shared some sensitive information with him, especially with his mother present. "Yeah, James and I just had a quick conversation at the office," Vere replied, choosing his words carefully. Mira, sensing that something might be amiss, decided to play along. "Oh, alright then, wait and I have to prepare myself," she said, with her excited tone to see her parents. While Vere waited for Mira, he took the opportunity to speak with his mother. "Mom,
The morning sun spilled warm, golden rays into the cozy dining room of the Fuentez family's house. Vere sat at the table with his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez, and his wife, Mira, having some breakfast. After They had just finished a delightful meal, Vere knew it was time to say his goodbyes. Pushing his plate aside, Vere cleared his throat and addressed his family. "Mom, Dad, Mira, I'm heading back to the city today. There are some urgent things I need to take care of. I can't seem to sleep well lately, especially after those dangerous threats from Mr. Perry." Mira looked at her husband, her eyes filled with concern. "You're leaving already Vere? Can't you stay a bit longer?" Vere smiled gently, his love for Mira evident in his eyes. "You're here with your parents, my love. Enjoy your time with them. As soon as I return, promise you we'll have all the time in the world to bond, okay?" With a nod, Vere kissed his wife on the forehead and stood up from the table. H
When Vere arrived at the mansion where his mother was engrossed in watching a show, he greeted her, saying, "Hello, Mom, I'm back." His mother inquired, "Where's Mira?" Vere responded, "I need to leave her with her parents, Mom, so she can spend quality time with her family. While I am taking care of some things," Vere answered. At that moment, Vere informs his mom to increase the security at their home. He carefully explained the reason, considering his mother's health, and assured her not to worry. He mentioned that he believed it was necessary to enhance security due to their changed circumstances and his newfound fame as a billionaire. He emphasized that was the only reason, keeping the real purpose involving Mr. Perry a secret from his mother. After a few conversations with his mother, Vere says goodbye to his mother and goes to his room to rest. Suddenly while he was lying in his bed, he felt the chill-filled air in the room, and it sent shivers down his spine. During th
Vere found himself unintentionally dozing off while watching television on the comfortable couch during the early morning hours. As he lay there, his cell phone suddenly sprang to life, silently vibrating and casting a subtle glow across the room with its screen. An unknown caller's name blinked on the display, causing Vere to briefly hesitate. However, the thoughts of Mira, his beloved, swiftly overcame his momentary uncertainty, and he quietly chose to answer the call. His response was a soft-spoken, "Hello," tinged with both curiosity and concern. The voice on the other end, identified as Mira, replied, "Dear, it's me," yet it was evident from the slurred speech that she had been indulging in some drinks. Vere's heart quickened its beat. "Mira, sweetheart," Vere confessed, his voice filled with relief upon hearing her voice, "I've been so worried about you." Mira let out a soft, slightly slurred chuckle. "I used my friend's cell phone, it's Ivie's number, we had some shopping
On that fateful day, Vere was stunned by the unexpected turn of events. His heart weighed heavy with remorse for what had happened to Mira. Nevertheless, amid the turmoil, both he and Red were steadfast in their commitment to keep searching the dense, overgrown terrain. They made the difficult decision to split up briefly, thinking it might improve their chances of finding Mira sooner. Vere wasted no time and suddenly he heard Red shouting “She here”. Vere hurried in the direction of Red's voice. When he reached the place where Mira lay, his heart sank at the sight before him. Mira was unconscious; her injuries were extensive. Tears welled up in Vere's eyes as he rushed to his wife's side, desperately trying to rouse her. "Mira, please wake up.", but Mira remained unresponsive. Though she still had a pulse, her condition was critical. With no cell phone signal in the area, Red took it upon himself to rush to a nearby station center in search of help. The minutes seemed to drag on en
It was afternoon and Vere and Mira's schoolmate, Red, arrived at the resort and wasted no time they headed straight to the room where Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez were staying and Vere and Red began their story about what happened. "Huh? How did that happen when you were together? And it's your fault because you invited them to go to that mountain," echoing Mrs. Fuentez's frustration pointing at Red. "I'm so sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez," Red began, his voice filled with genuine remorse. "I truly dislike what happened. Please forgive me. I promise that I will do everything I can to find Mira." Mr. Fuentez sighed deeply. "Vere, do what you have to do." " Yes, I promise you that I will not stop looking for Mira," Vere assured Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez. With those words, he and Red said their goodbyes and left their room. As Vere and Red walked towards the hotel lobby, Vere pondered his next move. He sent Red to the city which is an hour's travel by sea vessel to deliver a message to James,
Vere was once again staying at the majestic Fuentez Family Mansion, three months after his previous business trip. A vast and beautiful home, the mansion was a blatant indication of the family's riches and prestige. Vere's wife, Mira, embraced him tenderly as he exited his car and moved toward the front door. The lines of worry on her face have progressively faded since she was hurt on the island. "Welcome home, my love I have missed you so much," Mira whispered, her eyes filled with affection as she held Vere tightly. Vere smiled down at her, his heart swelling with love for the woman who had been through so much. "I missed you, Mira." Their lives had become peaceful since they had returned from that ill-fated trip. And the specter of Mr. Perry, who had once plagued their every move, had seemingly vanished into thin air. It was a welcome relief, and Vere had grown complacent about traveling alone without his usual contingent of bodyguards. As they entered the mansion
