The morning sun spilled warm, golden rays into the cozy dining room of the Fuentez family's house. Vere sat at the table with his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez, and his wife, Mira, having some breakfast. After They had just finished a delightful meal, Vere knew it was time to say his goodbyes.
Pushing his plate aside, Vere cleared his throat and addressed his family.
"Mom, Dad, Mira, I'm heading back to the city today. There are some urgent things I need to take care of. I can't seem to sleep well lately, especially after those dangerous threats from Mr. Perry."
Mira looked at her husband, her eyes filled with concern.
"You're leaving already Vere? Can't you stay a bit longer?"
Vere smiled gently, his love for Mira evident in his eyes.
"You're here with your parents, my love. Enjoy your time with them. As soon as I return, promise you we'll have all the time in the world to bond, okay?"
With a nod, Vere kissed his wife on the forehead and stood up from the table. He was ready to face whatever awaited him in the city. Mrs. Fuentez stepped forward and embraced her son-in-law.
"Be careful, Vere son," she said with a worried expression. Mr. Fuentez, a strong and sturdy man, joined the embrace, patting Vere's shoulder firmly. "Vere, son, we are very proud of you. You've proven to be the perfect husband for our daughter. You're a great man, a real protector of the family. The care you've shown to us, to Mira, it means the world."
Vere, touched by their words, replied humbly, "Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez. Since I lost my father and I faced the challenges that life threw at me, I don't fear anyone instead all of those have given me the strength to conquer my fear and there's a person behind my strength none other than my beautiful and lovely wife your daughter, Vere said with a smile in his face while looking to Mira. I'll protect all my loved ones, no matter what happens whether it's Mr. Perry, Mr. Jones, or anyone else."
The Fuentez family shared a heartfelt moment, their bonds growing stronger in the face of adversity. Vere grabbed his bag and headed towards the car where his bodyguards were waiting. At that moment he couldn't feel anything but a surge of determination.
As Vere's car pulled away from the Fuentez family's house and disappeared down the winding road, another car arrived at Mira's doorstep. It was an unassuming vehicle, and Vere noticed it in the side mirror as he drove away. However, he didn't pay it much attention, assuming it might be a relative or a visitor for the Fuentez family.
His mind was preoccupied with the journey ahead as there were a lot of things to handle. After thirty minutes of driving, Vere's cell phone suddenly rang. He took it out into his pocket and saw it was a call from Mira's name flashing on the screen. With a sense of unease, he answered the call and slowed down his driving.
"Vere, I called you because I got news to tell you, "Mira began hesitantly. "For sure you're not going to like it, but you need to know this."
Concern etched into his voice, Vere replied, "What's wrong, Mira? Why do you sound so worried?" Mira took a deep breath before continuing, "Mr. Perry's representative came here with some documents."
The mention of Mr. Perry's name sent a chill down Vere's spine. Panic welled up within him, and he couldn't believe that Mr. Perry or any of his associates would dare to approach the Fuentez family's residence.
He had assumed that the car he saw earlier belonged to a relative of Mira's. "What?" Vere exclaimed, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. "Mr. Perry's representative? Are you sure, Mira?"
Mira's responded, "Yes, Vere. They came with some legal documents, and they said they needed to talk to my parents regarding our company. And they left the document for my parents to think whether they agree or not. I didn't know what to do, so I called you immediately." Vere's mind raced as he contemplated the implications of Mr. Perry's presence at the Fuentez family's home. He knew that Mr. Perry had been a source of trouble and danger in their lives, and he couldn't help but worry about what this unexpected visit might mean for the family. "I'm going back there," Vere said firmly, determination in his voice. We'll face this together, Mira."
“No, they aren't here anymore they left about ten minutes ago," Mira answered. And please continue your journey. My Dad is calling his lawyer right now to handle it”, Mira added.
"Oh, okay, my love. Just give me an update about those documents and the decision of your parents. Give me a call when they're done with their discussion. Love you, Mira," Vere said.
Full of gratitude and relief, Mira's voice replied, "Thank you, Vere. I love you so much. Be careful on your way to the city"
As Vere continued his journey to the city. Three hours passed before he finally arrived and headed straight to his office, where James, his trusted representative, was waiting. "James, I want you to continue monitoring the status of the Fuentez company," Vere instructed, urgently in his voice. James nodded and replied, "We already have an asset there, Mr. Vere.”
Vere continues "Please, also visit Janet's family and offer our assistance if you could. I will provide a lawyer to seek justice for her death. And if there's anything they need don’t hesitate to give me a call.”
James nodded off at the gravity of the situation and nodded to Vere solemnly. I’ll handle it Mr. Vere please have some rest James added.” You go take care of yourself. We've got everything under control here."
With that, Vere left the office, his thoughts still consumed by the unexpected visit from Mr. Perry's representative and the potential danger it posed to the Fuentez family."
As the sun began its descent, casting a warm, over the city, Vere left his office and made a detour before heading to his mansion instead. Vere headed to the cemetery first to visit Janet's grave, a solemn place where he could pay his respects and make a promise to his late ex-girlfriend.
He arrives at the cemetery it is quiet around, with only the soft rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze breaking the silence. Vere stood before Janet's gravestone, a sense of sorrow washing over him. After he placed a bouquet of fresh flowers by the headstone, a gesture of remembrance and love.
Vere's voice filled with emotions, and he started to whisper Janet I'm sorry "I couldn't protect you when you needed it the most, but I promise you this, that justice is done for your death, and I will not stop haunting them. And I will make sure that those responsible for your suffering are held accountable."
Vere remained by Janet's grave for a while longer, lost in his thoughts and memories of their time together. He recalled the happiness they had shared and the pain of losing her.
After some time, Vere rose to his feet, wiping the tears away that had escaped his eye. Then he looked down at the gravestone one last time, his resolve firm. "Rest in peace, my dear Janet. I won't let your memory fade. Justice will be served."
With that promise in his heart, Vere turned away from the grave and headed back to his car and the other car where his bodyguards were waiting for him and they headed to the mansion, to take a rest and to get ready to continue his quest for justice, no matter the obstacles that lay ahead.

When Vere arrived at the mansion where his mother was engrossed in watching a show, he greeted her, saying, "Hello, Mom, I'm back." His mother inquired, "Where's Mira?" Vere responded, "I need to leave her with her parents, Mom, so she can spend quality time with her family. While I am taking care of some things," Vere answered. At that moment, Vere informs his mom to increase the security at their home. He carefully explained the reason, considering his mother's health, and assured her not to worry. He mentioned that he believed it was necessary to enhance security due to their changed circumstances and his newfound fame as a billionaire. He emphasized that was the only reason, keeping the real purpose involving Mr. Perry a secret from his mother. After a few conversations with his mother, Vere says goodbye to his mother and goes to his room to rest. Suddenly while he was lying in his bed, he felt the chill-filled air in the room, and it sent shivers down his spine. During th
Vere found himself unintentionally dozing off while watching television on the comfortable couch during the early morning hours. As he lay there, his cell phone suddenly sprang to life, silently vibrating and casting a subtle glow across the room with its screen. An unknown caller's name blinked on the display, causing Vere to briefly hesitate. However, the thoughts of Mira, his beloved, swiftly overcame his momentary uncertainty, and he quietly chose to answer the call. His response was a soft-spoken, "Hello," tinged with both curiosity and concern. The voice on the other end, identified as Mira, replied, "Dear, it's me," yet it was evident from the slurred speech that she had been indulging in some drinks. Vere's heart quickened its beat. "Mira, sweetheart," Vere confessed, his voice filled with relief upon hearing her voice, "I've been so worried about you." Mira let out a soft, slightly slurred chuckle. "I used my friend's cell phone, it's Ivie's number, we had some shopping
On that fateful day, Vere was stunned by the unexpected turn of events. His heart weighed heavy with remorse for what had happened to Mira. Nevertheless, amid the turmoil, both he and Red were steadfast in their commitment to keep searching the dense, overgrown terrain. They made the difficult decision to split up briefly, thinking it might improve their chances of finding Mira sooner. Vere wasted no time and suddenly he heard Red shouting “She here”. Vere hurried in the direction of Red's voice. When he reached the place where Mira lay, his heart sank at the sight before him. Mira was unconscious; her injuries were extensive. Tears welled up in Vere's eyes as he rushed to his wife's side, desperately trying to rouse her. "Mira, please wake up.", but Mira remained unresponsive. Though she still had a pulse, her condition was critical. With no cell phone signal in the area, Red took it upon himself to rush to a nearby station center in search of help. The minutes seemed to drag on en
It was afternoon and Vere and Mira's schoolmate, Red, arrived at the resort and wasted no time they headed straight to the room where Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez were staying and Vere and Red began their story about what happened. "Huh? How did that happen when you were together? And it's your fault because you invited them to go to that mountain," echoing Mrs. Fuentez's frustration pointing at Red. "I'm so sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez," Red began, his voice filled with genuine remorse. "I truly dislike what happened. Please forgive me. I promise that I will do everything I can to find Mira." Mr. Fuentez sighed deeply. "Vere, do what you have to do." " Yes, I promise you that I will not stop looking for Mira," Vere assured Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez. With those words, he and Red said their goodbyes and left their room. As Vere and Red walked towards the hotel lobby, Vere pondered his next move. He sent Red to the city which is an hour's travel by sea vessel to deliver a message to James,
Vere was once again staying at the majestic Fuentez Family Mansion, three months after his previous business trip. A vast and beautiful home, the mansion was a blatant indication of the family's riches and prestige. Vere's wife, Mira, embraced him tenderly as he exited his car and moved toward the front door. The lines of worry on her face have progressively faded since she was hurt on the island. "Welcome home, my love I have missed you so much," Mira whispered, her eyes filled with affection as she held Vere tightly. Vere smiled down at her, his heart swelling with love for the woman who had been through so much. "I missed you, Mira." Their lives had become peaceful since they had returned from that ill-fated trip. And the specter of Mr. Perry, who had once plagued their every move, had seemingly vanished into thin air. It was a welcome relief, and Vere had grown complacent about traveling alone without his usual contingent of bodyguards. As they entered the mansion
That night while they were still on the road Vere's thoughts were preoccupied with the health of the people who held a special place in his heart as the vehicle drove towards the hospital. “We're nearly there, Vere, so keep going strong”, Mira murmured, breaking the hush. Vere inhaled deeply and braced himself for the battle they faced as they pulled into the hospital's parking area. He was certain that no matter how difficult it might seem he had hopes that they would find a way to overcome the obstacles in his life, whatever it may take their tenacity serving as their shield. They entered the hospital holding hands, their hearts brimming with hope and a firm determination to overcome whatever obstacles were ahead. Vere and Mira rushed to the hospital receptionist's desk with a sense of urgency. "Excuse me, I need to know which room my mother, Elena Mendez, has been admitted to," Vere said with trembling in his voice. Kindhearted and demure, the receptionist quickly looked over
That night in the hospital, Vere was sound asleep on the couch next to his mother's bed but suddenly he woke up when he heard a movement. When he opened his eyes, Vere was shocked to see his mother struggling. Vere instantly stood up and punched the emergency button in the room. The doctor and nurses quickly arrived and led him out of the room. Vere could see the medical professionals trembling through the glass window as he was outdoors, including the nurses and doctors. Vere began to cry at that point since he felt so helpless watching his mother in that circumstance. That time Vere noticed the exchanging anxious glances of Dr. Lewis and the nurses. Suddenly as minutes passed Dr. Lewis went out of the room, approached Vere, and reached out to touch Vere's shoulder. "Mr. Vere, we did everything within our capabilities to save your mother, with a compassionate voice he said, but I regret to inform you that, despite our best efforts, your mother didn't make it and she didn't respond.
Weeks become months. Vere awakens early on that particular morning while his wife Mira is still asleep, and it is a sunny morning. Vere enters their spacious mansion's living room after softly leaving their bedroom. Vere has many fond recollections of his mother watching her favorite films in the living room. Pictures of his mother that document many events in her life and her love for him adorn and surround the space. Vere still mourns the loss of his mother, and he often wishes that only he could go back in time and spend time together. He continues to be committed to his job, which he started with his mother as his inspiration and his strength.Vere drew in a deep breath and then quietly uttered to himself, a resolute look in his eyes, "This is the way life is, but I must keep pushing forward, confronting the challenges that lie ahead." His words brimmed with unwavering determination, serving as a personal affirmation that he wouldn't shy away from life's unpredictable journey, r
But before Vere took any steps outside, he abruptly halted. Hastily, he ascended to the mansion's second floor, entering his room to retrieve the gun. Swiftly returning to the screen where they observed the parked car near the mansion, Vere continued monitoring the situation."Mr. Wayne, hold off on using the gun, especially if you're not sure who these people near the mansion are," Ronnie advised, his tone conveying concern.Vere glanced at Ronnie, acknowledging his words. "Yes, Ronnie. Thank you. I'm just really cautious in these situations, given past experiences," Vere explained, his eyes reflecting a sense of vigilance.Ronnie, understanding Vere's heightened state, nodded in agreement. He empathized with Vere's wariness, comprehending why he was on high alert. As they continued observing the screen, Vere kept a watchful eye on the parked vehicle, his instincts on edge. The uncertainty and the possibility of a threat lingered in the air, intensifying Vere's vigilance and wariness
On that night, Vere drifted off while waiting for Olivia's text. The next morning, he was roused from slumber by the persistent ringing of his cell phone. Rubbing the drowsiness from his eyes, he answered with a hint of grogginess."Hey, Olivia, I was worried about you!" Vere started, concern evident in his voice."I'm sorry, Mr. Wayne, oh, hahaha, Wayne, I mean," Olivia replied, her voice tinged with inebriation."Are you... drunk?" Vere inquired, noting the telltale signs in her speech."Yeah, friends invited me to a birthday party," Olivia explained.Without skipping a beat, Vere dove into the purpose of his call: "I need you to know about Mr. Smith. He's going to sell his company.""Seriously?" Olivia's tone shifted to seriousness."Yes, and that's why I've been trying to reach you," Vere continued. "I've decided to buy his company.""This is the happiest news I've heard from you!" Olivia exclaimed, her enthusiasm apparent. "So, okay, what are you waiting for? Grab it!"Vere felt
A few had boarded their respective vehicles and left. Vere waited a few minutes before driving towards the mansion. As he entered, he hurried to the CCTV screen to check and see who the visitors outside were. Despite scrutinizing the CCTV footage, the faces of the unfamiliar men didn't ring a bell. Vere was at a loss trying to identify these unexpected visitors loitering outside the mansion's gate. After reviewing the footage, Vere dialed Olivia. During their conversation, he mentioned the visitors, but Olivia denied knowing them, expressing her surprise at their unexpected arrival."Olivia, did you recognize those men in the video that I sent you?" Vere asked, concerned about lacing his voice."No, Mr. Wayne, I have no idea who they are. I wasn't expecting any visitors today or later as I am focusing on my business here in California," Olivia responded, her tone mirroring Vere's unease."This is puzzling. They didn't seem like delivery or service personnel," Vere pondered aloud, his
"You?" Crystal, Ronnie's visitor, exclaimed upon seeing Vere. Vere met her gaze and courteously greeted her, "Good afternoon, ma'am."Ronnie, taken aback by Crystal's arrival and the interaction between her and Vere, introduced them. "Ah, Crystal, this is Mr. Wayne, the one I told you about who saved me."Crystal's voice lowered as she acknowledged Vere, "Hello, Mr. Wayne. Nice to meet you for the second time around."Ronnie, slightly confused by their familiarity, inquired, "Oh, you know each other?"Vere nodded, maintaining his composure. "Yes, we've met before," he confirmed, careful not to reveal too much about their previous encounter. In that moment, despite sensing Crystal's apparent displeasure, Vere knew he had to remain composed, disregarding any impressions she might hold. Unbeknownst to them, the individuals they once knew were now in the presence of Vere, bearing a different face and name, yet still the same person.Vere felt a pang in his heart, realizing the company of
At that moment, when Vere turned to face Ronnie, he hugged him, stunned by the stark contrast in Ronnie's appearance from when he last saw him during rehab. Ronnie then invited Vere to his apartment. However, Vere kept his identity hidden due to his altered appearance."Mr. Wayne, thank you so much for saving my life." Ronnie expressed his gratitude.Vere glanced at Ronnie, smiling softly. "It's okay; don't thank me. I owe you a lot."Ronnie was taken aback and confused by Vere's words. "Owe? What do you mean?"Realizing his slip, Vere quickly recovered. "Uhmm, I meant you're welcome. Sorry, I remembered my friend; his name is the same as yours," he explained, smiling warmly at Ronnie."Ah, okay, hahaha," Ronnie chuckled, though a hint of curiosity lingered in his eyes.Despite Vere's attempt to redirect the conversation, Ronnie seemed intrigued by the slip-up. Nevertheless, they shared a light moment, both laughing at the easy camaraderie they shared.Later, as they conversed in Ronn
Vere shrugged off a seemingly misplaced call, attributing it to a simple dialing error. Ignoring whoever might have been trying to reach out, he resumed his slumber. The next morning, Vere woke up early, diving into his emails. Among them was a message from James. "Mr. Wayne, I am sorry to inform you that one of Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez's properties has been sold to the millionaire, Mr. Luke. We won't be reserving it for you due to an important reason, likely one you're already aware of, being Miss Olivia's assistant. You know that in the business world, it's all about give and take."Vere's brow furrowed as he absorbed the contents of the email. It seemed that a significant property deal had slipped through their grasp. The implications were clear, tying back to Miss Olivia's affairs. In the cutthroat realm of business, it appeared that personal connections often dictated the course of transactions. He pondered the intricate dance of favors and influence in the corporate landscape, where
Vere was astonished when he saw the woman get out of the car. "Crystal? Oh my, it's her," he whispered to himself, lowering his car window. "Hey, mister!" A woman's voice interrupted her thoughts. "You've blocked my way!"Realizing he had inadvertently obstructed the path to confront her from her driving she hit vere's car side but instead, Vere swiftly apologized, "I am sorry, Crystal. I didn't mean to." The woman was taken aback. "What? Did I hear right? How do you know me?" Vere was momentarily stunned, having forgotten that he now looked different, thus unrecognized by Crystal. He quickly diverted the conversation. "I'm sorry, Ma'am. I gotta go." With a farewell, Vere left Crystal standing there, equally bewildered by the unexpected encounter. At that moment, Vere hurriedly drove off, leaving Crystal behind. The chance meeting had stirred a whirlwind of emotions in both of them. Vere's mind raced with memories of a past where he and Crystal were acquainted. However, time had chang
The next day, as Vere was busy reviewing business files in Olivia's mansion, he was interrupted by the doorbell. Vere quickly checked the CCTV to see who was at the door. When he saw a delivery truck parked outside, he went to the gate to talk to the delivery man. To his surprise, the package was from Olivia. After receiving the package, Vere went inside. The package was long and had some weight to it. Vere eagerly opened it, finding a small note from Olivia that read, "Wayne, this is the present that I promised. I know you will use it for our safety and protection." Vere was astonished as he unveiled a gun from the package. Holding the firearm in his hand, he murmured to himself, "Now, whoever tries to harm me or tarnish our reputation will have something to reckon with."Inside the package were two valuable firearms, a George Washington saddle pistol, and a Cabot Guns meteorite pistol. Vere couldn't believe his eyes. It was a moment of astonishment as he gazed at the stunning and hi
When Vere arrived at the mansion, Olivia greeted him with a question, as she was quite curious about his sudden return. "Mr. Wayne, have you come back already?" Olivia asked. To which Vere replied, "Yes, Olivia. I didn't expect to find Mr. Perry and Mr. James at one of your establishments, waiting for you."Confused by this revelation, Olivia inquired about the situation. "Oh, I don't care about this, Mr. Perry, but why do you hate Mr. James, Mr. Wayne?" she asked, her brow furrowing in puzzlement. Before answering Olivia's question, Vere sighed and then clarified, "That time, before I respond, let me tell you, I am Wayne. There's no 'Mr.' before it." He raised an eyebrow with a smile.Olivia couldn't help but chuckle. "Alright, alright. My apologies, Wayne. Haha!""So, what happened?" Olivia added another question.Vere went on to explain that he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw them together, but when he confronted Mr. James, the latter mentioned that he worked for Mr. Perry as
