The King nodded to the servants, who quickly gathered their things and left the library. "You may go," he said, his voice firm. "Ryker will take care of the rest."

The servants nodded and filed out of the library, leaving Ryker alone with the King. "I want everything to be perfect," the King said, his eyes scanning the room. "The professors will be here soon, and I want to make a good impression. I want you to make sure that every book is dusted, every shelf is polished, and every corner is spotless."

Ryker nodded, taking a deep breath. He was determined to do a good job, to prove himself to the King and the rest of the castle staff.

The King nodded, seemingly satisfied. "Good. I'll leave you to it, then. You may work on your own, but make sure everything is perfect before you leave."

With that, the King turned and left the library, leaving Ryker to his task. Ryker watched him go, feeling a sense of determination wash over him. He was going to do a good job, no matter what.

As soon as the King was gone, Ryker began to work. He started by dusting the books, carefully wiping down each one with a soft cloth. He moved on to the shelves, polishing each one until it sparkled.

But as he worked, Ryker couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He had noticed a glow at the top of one of the shelves, and he was curious.

He walked over to the shelf, his eyes scanning the top of it. And there, nestled between two large tomes, was a small, glowing crystal.

Ryker's heart skipped a beat as he stared at the crystal. What was it doing here? And why was it glowing?

He reached out a hand, hesitantly, and touched the crystal. As soon as he did, the glow grew brighter, and Ryker felt a strange energy coursing through his body.

He pulled his hand back, startled, and looked around the library. Was he alone? Had anyone seen him touch the crystal?

But the library was quiet, the only sound the soft creaking of the shelves as they settled. Ryker was alone.

He took a deep breath, his mind racing. What had just happened? And what was the meaning of the glowing crystal?

As Ryker watched, the crystal began to float in the air, still glowing with an otherworldly energy. It rose higher and higher, until it was level with Ryker's head. He felt a sense of wonder and trepidation as he watched the crystal hover in front of him.

And then, in an instant, it bolted forward, piercing Ryker's forehead with a sudden, searing pain. Ryker felt his consciousness begin to slip, his vision blurring as he stumbled backwards.

But even as his world went dark, he heard a voice in his mind. A voice that was both familiar and yet completely alien.

"Welcome, Host," the voice said, echoing through Ryker's brain. "I am Kairos. I have been waiting for you."

Ryker's mind reeled as he struggled to comprehend what was happening. What was Kairos? And what did it mean to be a "Host"?

As his consciousness slipped further into darkness, Ryker felt a sense of wonder and trepidation. He had no idea what lay ahead, but he knew that his life was about to change in ways he could never have imagined.

The last thing he remembered was the feeling of Kairos's presence in his mind, a sense of power and energy that was both exhilarating and terrifying.

And then, everything went black.

Ryker slumped to the floor, his body limp and unresponsive. The crystal, now merged with his brain, glowed with an intense, pulsing light. It was as if Kairos was still awakening, still spreading its influence through Ryker's mind.

The library was silent, the only sound the soft hum of the crystal's energy. Ryker's fate was now inextricably linked with that of Kairos, and the world would never be the same again.

Here's the continuation of the chapter:

Ryker slowly opened his eyes, groggily taking in his surroundings. He was in a bed, and a white sheet was draped over him. He tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over him, forcing him to lie back down.

As he looked around, he saw the castle nurse standing near him, a look of disdain on her face. "Good morning, Ryker," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I see you're feeling a bit...under the weather."

Ryker tried to speak, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible. The nurse simply scoffed at him and turned to leave.

But she returned a few minutes later, this time with the King by her side. "Ah, Ryker," the King said, his voice cold and unforgiving. "I see you're awake. And I see you've managed to fall unconscious just from cleaning the library. Congratulations, you're a true master of your craft."

Ryker tried to defend himself, but the King cut him off. "No, no, no. I don't want to hear it. You're incompetent, Ryker. You're a waste of space. I don't know why I even bother with you."

As the King spoke, Ryker felt a strange sensation in his mind. It was as if he was being shown a series of numbers and statistics. He looked around, confused, and saw that the King was still ranting at him.

But Ryker's attention was focused on the numbers in his mind.

“Ding!

Strength: 10

Intelligence: 5

Agility: 12

Health: 100

Stamina: 80

Spirit: 50.”

As he looked at the numbers, Ryker felt a sense of wonder and curiosity. What did they mean? And how did they relate to his current situation?

But before he could ask himself any questions, the numbers in his mind changed.

Ding!

Strength: 20

Intelligence: 15

Agility: 22

Health: 100

Stamina: 90

Spirit: 60.”

Ryker's eyes widened in surprise as he realized that something was happening to him. He was changing, evolving in some way. But what did it mean?

As he looked at the numbers, Ryker felt a sense of excitement and trepidation. He had no idea what was happening to him, but he knew that his life was about to change in ways he could never have imagined.

The King stormed out of the room, leaving Ryker and the nurse alone. The nurse looked at Ryker with a scowl on her face. "You're such an incompetent freeloader," she spat. "You can't even take care of yourself, let alone do your job. I swear, you're a waste of space."

Ryker felt a surge of anger at the nurse's words, but he said nothing. He was too tired and too weak to argue with her.

A few minutes later, the Princess returned to the room. She looked at Ryker with a concerned expression, and then at the nurse. "What's going on here?" she asked.

The nurse shrugged. "Just the usual. Ryker here fell unconscious from cleaning the library. He's a complete failure as a prince."

The Princess's eyes softened as she looked at Ryker. She walked over to his bedside and took his hand in hers. "Don't listen to her, Ryker," she said. "You're not a failure. You're just...different."

Ryker looked up at the Princess, and saw the sadness in her eyes. He knew that she was worried about him, and that she didn't think he was capable of being a good prince.

But Ryker was determined to prove her wrong. He took a deep breath, and spoke in a low, steady voice. "Before you give birth, Princess," he said, "I will become just as powerful as the King. I will show him and everyone else that I am not a failure. I am a force to be reckoned with."

The Princess looked at Ryker in surprise, and then a small smile played on her lips. "I believe you, Ryker," she said. "I always believed in you."

Ryker smiled back at her, feeling a sense of determination and purpose. He knew that he had a long way to go, but with the Princess's support, he felt like he could conquer anything.

As the Princess continued to care for him, Ryker felt a strange sensation in his mind. It was as if he was being connected to something, something that was powerful and ancient.

He looked at the Princess, and saw that she was smiling at him. "What's happening to me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
