Ryker's thoughts raced as he considered how much to reveal about his identity. The merchant's genuine gratitude and the guards' respect made him hesitant to disclose his royal connection.

"I'm just a traveler," Ryker said with a humble smile. "Glad I could help."

The merchant nodded, his expression thoughtful. "You're no ordinary traveler, sir. You've got skill and bravery. We could use someone like you in our caravan."

Ryker's instincts whispered caution, but Kairos's systems remained silent, offering no guidance.

"I appreciate the offer," Ryker said, "but I've got my own path to follow."

Ryker's cautious nature prevailed, and he declined the merchant's offer. Trust was a luxury he couldn't afford, especially after being betrayed by his own father.

With a nod, Ryker bid the merchant farewell and returned to the fallen bandits. Their lifeless bodies served as a grim reminder of the danger lurking in these unfamiliar lands.

Ryker methodically searched their belongings, uncovering:

17 gold coins

53 silver coins

A worn leather map

Unfolding the map, Ryker's eyes widened as he realized he was far beyond Azura's borders. The landscape seemed to stretch endlessly, with unfamiliar symbols and markings.

"How did I end up here?" Ryker muttered, confusion etched on his face.

"Ding!

System Analysis. Host's location. Estimated 300 miles east of Azura's borders.

Ryker's mind reeled. "How long was I unconscious?"

Studying the map, Ryker identified nearby landmarks:

The Wandering River

Oakwood Forest

Raven's Peak Town

Ryker charted a course for Raven's Peak, seeking answers and supplies.

"I need information," Ryker said to himself. "And a safe place to rest."

With the map guiding him, Ryker ventured into the unknown, Kairos's presence a constant companion.

As he walked, questions swirled, How did he end up so far from Azura? Why did the guards decided to spare his life at the last minute? And above all What exactly will await him in Raven's Peak?

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows. Ryker pressed on, determination fueling his steps.

Ryker followed the winding road, the map guiding him through the rolling hills and dense forests. As the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow, Raven's Peak emerged from the landscape.

The town's imposing walls, crafted from sturdy stone, stood vigilant against potential threats. Ryker approached the gate, where two burly guards eyed him warily.

"Halt! Who goes there?" one guard barked.

Ryker stepped forward, hands visible. "Traveler seeking entry."

The guards exchanged skeptical glances. "Identification papers, please," the second guard demanded.

Ryker hesitated. "I don't have any."

The first guard rubbed his chin. "No papers? That'll cost you. Two silvers to prepare new documents."

Ryker weighed his options, then handed over the coins. "Name's Ryker Hartford."

The guards nodded, scribbling on parchment.

"Ryker Hartford, welcome to Raven's Peak. You're now officially documented." The guard handed Ryker a crude but legitimate-looking paper.

Ryker pocketed the document, feeling a sense of security.

"Thanks," Ryker said. "What's the town like? Safe?"

The second guard leaned in. "Raven's Peak's got its share of troubles, but within these walls, you're safe. Just watch yourself at night."

Ryker nodded, tucking the advice away.

As he entered Raven's Peak, Ryker absorbed the sights and sounds:

Merchants hawking wares

Children laughing

The smell of roasting meats

"Ding!

System Analysis. Raven's Peak. Population 5,000. Primary industries: textiles, blacksmithing.

Ryker wandered, taking in the town's rhythm.

Ryker approached a passing townsman. "Excuse me, sir. Could you recommend a good inn?"

The townsman smiled. "You're looking for the Silver Stag Inn. Best in Raven's Peak. Clean rooms, warm food."

Ryker thanked the man and made his way to the Silver Stag. Inside, the cozy atmosphere enveloped him, fire crackling in the hearth.

"Welcome!" The innkeeper beamed. "Room's 1 silver coin per night. Food's extra, 50 copper coins."

Ryker calculated.

53 silver coins from bandits, 53 nights

Plus 17 gold coins, equivalent to 1,700 silver coins, 1,703 nights

Comfortable for a while.

"I'll book for ten days," Ryker said, handing over 10 silver coins.

The innkeeper nodded, handing Ryker a key. "Room 3A. Enjoy your stay."

Ryker climbed the stairs, unlocking his room. Simple, yet clean and cozy.

"Ding!

System Financial Analysis. Current funds. 43 silver coins, 17 gold coins. Estimated stay duration, 3 months.

Ryker smiled, feeling secure.

Morning sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating Ryker's cozy room. He stretched, feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep.

Ryker began his morning routine. Bathed in the inn's communal bathhouse, Cleaned his mouth with minty herbs, Paid 50 copper coins for breakfast

The innkeeper, Elara, presented him with a hearty meal: roasted eggs, crispy bacon, and warm bread.

As Ryker savored his food, he approached Elara. "What's the most lucrative business in Raven's Peak?"

Elara's eyes sparkled. "Adventuring, hands down. Brave souls seek fortune and glory in these uncertain lands. You can either choose quests to uncover uncharted lands, or go towards the forest or dungeons and slaughter monsters."

Ryker's interest piqued. "Where can I find more information and register?"

Elara gestured toward the town square. "The Adventurers' Guild is your best bet. They handle quests, provide resources... and danger."

Ryker nodded, committing the location to memory.

"Ding!

Adventurers' Guild detected. Potential opportunities:

Quests, Training, Networking"

Ryker finished his meal, feeling invigorated.

"Thanks, Elara. I'll check out the guild."

Elara smiled. "Be careful, Ryker. Adventuring's not for the faint of heart."

Ryker nodded, shouldering his pack.

Ryker approached the Adventurers' Guild, his heart beating with anticipation. He pushed open the heavy wooden door, stepping into a bustling hub of activity.

The room was packed with burly men and women, each sporting varying physiques and attire:

Steel armor glinted on some

Leather armor creaked on others

Swords hung at sides, ready for action

Ryker wove through the crowd, reaching the receptionist's table.

A stern-looking woman with a hint of warmth in her eyes greeted him. "Identification, please."

Ryker handed over his papers, obtained earlier at the town gate.

The receptionist scrutinized the document, nodding. "Welcome, Ryker Hartford. I'm Eluned. Let's get you registered."

She scribbled on a parchment, muttering to herself. "New recruit...F-Rank..."

"Please wait for a few minutes," Eluned said, disappearing into a nearby room.

Ryker waited, observing the guild members,

Laughter and camaraderie filled the air

Some honed their skills, practicing swordplay

Others pored over maps and scrolls

Eluned returned, a small badge in hand. "Here's your guild badge, Ryker."

On the badge, a single letter stood out: F.

"F-Rank," Eluned explained. "Our lowest rank. Prove yourself, and you'll rise through the ranks."

Ryker pinned the badge to his tunic, a sense of pride and purpose swelling within.

Ryker smiled, feeling a sense of belonging.

"What's next?" Ryker asked Eluned.

"Browse the quest board," she replied. "Choose your mission wisely. F-Rank quests are...simple, but be cautious."

Ryker nodded, scanning the room for the quest board.
