Rebecca packed her car and at the Knowles garage and she strode into her family home, her heels clicking against the marble floor with each determined step. The air inside the house was cold, reflecting the tension and bitterness that often permeated their conversations. She was greeted by the stern faces of her mother, Mrs. Knowles, and her younger brother, Theron, who were waiting for her in the grand living room."Rebecca," Mrs. Knowles began, her voice icy. "I hope you have news for us. This vendetta against Ashton and his friends needs to be resolved swiftly." She said to her daughter. Theron, lounging on the sofa with a drink in hand, chimed in, "Yeah, sis. What's the plan? I can't stand those self-righteous idiots, especially Thomas Gomez. He acts like he's untouchable." He said. Rebecca sighed, her frustration evident. "I'm working on it, Theron. Ashton and his friends are more resourceful than I anticipated, but I'm not backing down." Rebecca said. Mrs. Knowles leaned for
Rebecca knew way too well that time was of the essence. As she drove to Thomas Gomez's office, her mind whirled with strategies. Strategies on how to get things done and in the way she wanted. She needed to isolate Ashton and his friends quickly, and a direct confrontation with Thomas was necessary. She had to offer him one last chance to back out, to save himself from the coming storm.Thomas was after all the backbone of Ashton. Him getting out of the way would mean a whole lot to her. She simply couldn't understand why he was still with that lowlife ex husband of hers. He was just being too pathetic, Ashton. It had been a while since she last visited Thomas' office and the last time she checked Thomas' office was located in a modest building downtown, a stark contrast to the grandeur of the Knowles estate. Well what could she say? She was already made. Rebecca's heels clicked against the polished floor as she walked through the lobby, the receptionist gave her a wary glance. She i
Ashton sat back in his chair, still processing the conversation he'd just had with Thomas. The thought of Mr. Cooper's offer gnawed at him, but Thomas's words had struck a chord. Healing Elizabeth was an act of compassion, not commerce. He couldn’t let money or power tarnish that."Thanks again, Thomas," Ashton said, standing up. "I really appreciate your support."Thomas nodded, his eyes softening with empathy. "Anytime, Ashton. Now, how about we take a break? We’ve been working ourselves to the bone. Let’s go out tonight, have a drink, and unwind a bit."Ashton’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Clubbing? I didn’t know you were into that sort of thing."Thomas chuckled. "I’m not, really. But we need a distraction. Let’s just go, have a few drinks, and forget about all this for a while."Ashton hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, you’re on. A night out might be just what we need."Later that evening, the two friends found themselves at a trendy nightclub downtown. The pulsat
"Yeah," the old drunk dude said while Ashton watched him. "Beauty gets into their heads and they ask for divorce. You could have gone for someone else, someone less, prettier." He said to Ashton and he wasn't even slurring. Ashton couldn't tell whether or not he was drunk or if he could still maintain soberness with that bottle of..... was that vodka in his hands? Ashton had thought that it was beer, but upon closer look he could see that this old man probably was having a great night keeping himself warmed up."Want a sip?" He asked Ashton. He had noticed that Ashton was staring at the bottle in his hand. Ashton shook his head no and the man let out a shrug. "Oh well, more for me then." He said and Ashton looked away. "You should get married again." The man opined and Ashton rolled his eyes. Okay who gave this guy the right to advise someone else? "I mean, I can see that you're not over this girl." He said to him and Ashton sighed. Too bad he was going to have to see this through.
Ashton stirred and opened his eyes to see that he was in his bedroom. He groaned as he rolled on the bed and his hand touched something warm. It was so warm, he wanted to snuggle up close to that warmth and stay that way for the rest of the day even though it was still only morning. The next thing and his eyes flew open in an instant. Wait! What was that? His eyes shot up to see that it was a female figure. That made him panic and he got up immediately from his bed as he looked at the female figure that lay on his bed. He had to look again at the room to be sure that this was his room. How did this happen? What was a woman doing in his bed and how did they get there? He wondered as he glanced at the sleeping form of the lady. The next thing and he heard her groan still engrossed in her sleep and then she turned to reveal her face and that gave Ashton the shocker of his life in a long while. Elizabeth Cooper?!He was alarmed. Oh shit! What was she doing here and in his bed? He wasn
Ashton awkwardly shuffled into the kitchen, his mind was filled with so much embarrassment and confusion. He filled the kettle with water but was still lost in thoughts, his hands were shaking slightly and he couldn't even control himself any longer. How the hell could he have forgotten everything? Everything! The relief of not having crossed a line with Elizabeth was there and it was enough to power a house but then, the evident embarrassment of the situation was kind of bigger than the relief. He went on to prepare two cups of coffee, for himself and Elizabeth. He made sure to add extra milk and moderate sweetener to one, just as Elizabeth had requested while he made his own to his taste, dark, strong and in a tall cup. He took a deep breath, as he tried to steady himself before walking back to the bedroom with slouched shoulders. Elizabeth was sitting up, her hair was still slightly tousled but her smile was bright. Ashton handed her the coffee as he looked away from her and av
Ashton watched Thomas walk out the door and saw the door slam shut behind Thomas. He knew something was up but couldn't tell. He just had to place it on the fact that Thomas was still upset about this whole blogger's nonsense and so he was only heading out to feel a bit better. He made a mental note to treat him to a couple of his favourite drinks at their usual bar later when he was back from wherever he was headed to at the moment. While he waited for him, he would check if the freelance jobs he had applied for online would go through. So he grabbed his laptop computer and began scrolling through his email to see if anyone had responded to his applications. There were quite a few newer emails but nothing of them showed that his applications had been received nor had they viewed his portfolio. He let out a sigh and pushed the laptop computer away from his front. He let out a sigh and looked at the screen dejectedly. Suddenly, an email popped up on his screen. He sat up and looked a
Ashton let out a scoff at Theron's accusations. What was he yapping on about? He wondered. What the hell was he saying? "After you had had your day's fill with my sister and now you're seeing other women?" Theron asked again and this time, Ashton shook his head in disbelief at Theron's audacity. "Bold of you to make such claims as that." He told him. Theron let out a scornful laughter. "What is the case then if I am telling a lie?" He asked him with wide eyes. Then Thomas turned to Elizabeth. "And you," he said spitefully to her. "Do you even think you're any better? You're as bad as he is and that is because you're moving around like a freaking a-" he was saying but Ashton had had enough of his antics and so the next thing was that Theron was flying into the air and to a corner right there in that restaurant. Ashton was fuming, he had shoved Theron away and he didn't waste any time further as he immediately folded the sleeves of his shirt while he approached Theron with a mean gl
