"Today, Mom came over again. She’s been visiting a lot since the divorce, and I know it’s because she worries about me. I appreciate it, but it’s also a reminder of everything I’m trying to move past. She doesn’t realize how much her concern sometimes makes me feel even more broken.
I told her I need space, and I hope she understands. It’s hard to explain to someone how much you need to be alone to heal when all they want to do is help. But I have to do this my way.
Writing helps. It’s like I can pour all my thoughts and feelings onto the page and see them clearly for the first time. It’s messy and painful, but it’s also freeing. Maybe that’s what healing is supposed to feel like—messy, painful, and freeing.
I think about Ashton sometimes. I wonder how he’s coping. I saw him the other day, and it looked like he’s struggling too. Maybe we’re both just trying to find our way in the
Rebecca briskly walked to her office, she was greeted by her assistant, Stephan. She let out a curt nod as she passed him and headed for her office. "Brief me on the latest developments." She instructed Stephan as she walked and he hurried to match her pace. "Okay, MacBridge constructions are set to partner with the Chinese Winchang Bank on a project and they are soliciting for more sponsors, " he said, breathing hard as he doubled with trying to keep up with her pace and reading out of an iPad in his hands. "Apparently this is promising to be the biggest project for the MacBridge construction company and they have promised to not let this flop.." he said and stopped momentarily to get her feedback on what he had just told her.Rebecca thought about it for a moment. She had only been away from work for a couple of days and was back now to see that a lot was now in her hands to handle. She let out a sigh as she made up her mind on the next line of action to take concerning what Steph
The waiter walked away from them after he had taken both their orders. Rebecca smiled at Elizabeth Cooper who was taking a sip from her glass of water. She noticed that Elizabeth didn't drink pure water. She was sipping from a glass of sparkling water. Rebecca on her part had a glass of champagne in front of her. She had opted for that when Elizabeth had requested for her water."Seems like you like your water sophisticated. " Rebecca let out a smile so that Elizabeth could see that she was joking around. Elizabeth smiled at that. She picked up the napkin on her lap and dabbed on the sides of her lips with it while she smiled. Rebecca watched her place the napkin back onto her lap and she looked up to her."Well, " Elizabeth said with that soft voice of hers. Rebecca could almost think that she was fragile. "It's really not like that. I kind of had a medical condition and so I have decided to stay away from.... you know....so much wine, so instead I opt for
"So how do you want to help him?" Rebecca asked as she took a slice of food into her mouth and chewed well mannered while she waited for Elizabeth."Well," Elizabeth said. "I was thinking of doing something for him, something that would not seem like it came from me but would be so helpful to him that he wouldn't want to refuse it. " She said and Rebecca nodded her head at that. That was indeed thoughtful she thought as she waited for Elizabeth Cooper to say what it was on her mind that she wanted to do."I want to open up something for him." Elizabeth said to Rebecca and Rebecca raised an eyebrow at that. "I mean, it's not like he doesn't have something doing already, but...." She trailed and Rebecca tried to put herself in Elizabeth's shoes as it was. Maybe she wanted to help this man out. She could see that Elizabeth liked this person a lot. This man that she was talking about.<
Rebecca simply couldn't believe what had transpired at the restaurant that day. She was beyond surprised and shocked. Even more, she was angry. She was enraged that Ashton had to slither into every damned thing that she decided to do for herself. It was mortifying. Now he has found his way into Elizabeth Cooper's life as a commoner who had to literally beg in order to eat his meal. And frankly, it gave her so much satisfaction to hear that Ashton Pierce was struggling with life but why the hell did he have to go to Elizabeth Cooper and her family? And now he had made her act abnormally in the presence of Elizabeth. She paced around her office for minutes and hours unending. She was enraged and seething with so much hatred that she could at any moment explode. It was way past lunch time, she could see it, and she could also see that she had missed an interview with a popular television station. She had given it all up just for this freaking lunch with Elizabeth Cooper and now
Ashton held the cup of chilled coffee in his hand as he walked into Thomas' office. "Dude?" Thomas said as he looked up to him with an annoyed expression on his face. "What?" Ashton asked as he watched him, whizzing on his drink. "Freaking knock." Thomas berated. Ashton rolled his eyes at that. He has grown past that stage. "I apologize, apologize, sir." Hesaid this said this to him as he turned back and pretended to knock on the door. "Aren't you supposed to be working?" He asked him, him, and Ashton rolled his eyes. "I guess I'm too acquainted with my boss,, so he can let me be lazy about it." about it." Ashton said as he sipped on his drink. Thomas rolled his eyes in mock annoyance at him. "I was thinking about a collaboration." Ashton suggested. "Why don't we do something together?" Hesaid that, said that, and Thomas rolled his eyes at him. Ashton was in a good mood that day. "Go away, Pearce." Thomas muttered as he typed away on his laptop computer. "I am busy with work." H
Rebecca walked out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped around her body. She walked towards her closet. She took out her body serum as well as her skin care products and took her seat at the table and there she gently began to apply the ointment on her body. She felt satisfied with herself and so she hummed a song she was now familiar with. Suddenly her cell phone began to ring. Casually, she glanced at her bed where the phone was. She let out a smile before she got up from where she was seated and headed towards the bed. Glancing at the screen of her phone, she let out a satisfied smile as at the name that was displayed on the caller ID. About time, she thought as she picked up the phone and replaced the smile on her lips with a frown. "Long time no see. " She said to the speaker. "Finally deemed it fit to return my calls?" She asked him. "What has he done to you this time?" Thomas gritted out angrily. "Who are you speaking about?" She asked him. She knew exactly who it was he
"So what do you think we can do next?" Rebecca asked Myles from over the phone. She was still clad in her towel and her skin had long gone dried without her having to apply her serums and lotions on it. And how she hated applying her skin lotion on her dried skin. Now she was going to have to go back for another bath. Freaking perfect. She thought as her subconscious rolled her eyes. She hated that everytime she had something to do with Ashton, she ended up getting irritated and frustrated. This was no different from every other time. She was beginning to think that Ashton was some sort of wizard or something. Why did he always have to punish her even when he was not even trying to?"I guess now we just need to search for other ways to get at him then." Myles said, voicing out his thoughts. A thought came to Rebecca's thoughts. "And you," she said to him, Myles braced himself for whatever it was that was coming from her. "Why the hell did you not pick something legal from him? Pro
The sheriff unlocked the door to Ashton's cell and allowed him to come out. Ashton eyed him with tired eyes as he headed out and met face to face with Thomas. He let out a smile as he walked towards where Thomas stood. No doubt, Thomas had done something about his arrest and he was thankful for that. "Hey man." Thomas said to him as Ashton raised a brow at him tiredly. "How are you feeling?" Thomas asked him and Ashton nodded his head. "I'm good." He said to Thomas. He felt tired and exhausted. He wasn't able to have a good night's sleep because the bed in that cell was full of dirt and the sheets looked like someone had jerked off in the sheets. The mere thought of it made him want to gag. "I've been better." Ashton said, correcting himself, deciding that he in fact wasn't good. Thomas, ever ready to taunt him, saw this as an open opportunity, chuckled at him. Ashton rolled his eyes when he saw that that was what Thomas was trying to do. "I bet you had fun with them cell mates."
