The Proposal

Ashton stood in front of the full-length mirror in his bedroom, he carefully adjusted the collar of his crisp, white shirt. His hands trembled slightly, it was a mixture of nerves and anticipation as they surged through him. Tonight was the night. He had waited long enough, and it was time to take the next step with Elizabeth.

Thomas’s words from earlier that day echoed in his mind.

"Rebecca’s not going to do anything to you, mate. She’s lost her leverage. It’s time to focus on your future." Thomas had said to him while they had lunch.
