UNWINDING TENSIONS

Ashton sat back in his chair, still processing the conversation he'd just had with Thomas. The thought of Mr. Cooper's offer gnawed at him, but Thomas's words had struck a chord. Healing Elizabeth was an act of compassion, not commerce. He couldn’t let money or power tarnish that.

"Thanks again, Thomas," Ashton said, standing up. "I really appreciate your support."

Thomas nodded, his eyes softening with empathy. "Anytime, Ashton. Now, how about we take a break? We’ve been working ourselves to the bone. Let’s go out tonight, have a drink, and unwind a bit."

Ashton’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Clubbing? I didn’t know you were into that sort of thing."

Thomas chuckled. "I’m not, really. But we need a distraction. Let’s just go, have a few drinks, and forget about all this for a while."

Ashton hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, you’re on. A night out might be just what we need."
